I'm the King of Curry at Hogwarts
Chapter 283 Clues to the Resurrection Stone
Chapter 283 Clues to the Resurrection Stone
"Who's laughing like an idiot! Harry tripped over himself, and you won't let me laugh!" Ron seemed a little aggrieved, but as he said this, the famous scene of Harry's fall flashed through his mind again, and he couldn't help but burst out laughing again.
"I'm just nervous!" Harry quickly explained to himself. "This is my first time attending a ball like this. Can't you let me be nervous just this once?"
"You're right, Harry, you should be nervous," Ron said, immediately trying to defend Harry when he saw Hermione's murderous glare.
He always followed his heart, especially when Hermione or his mother were around.
"Alright, how much longer are we going to stand here?" Louis coughed, reminding them, "The ball is about to start, are we going to stand here forever?"
They then realized what was happening and walked toward the dance floor. On the way, Hermione could be seen pinching Ron's waist.
Louis didn't really like dancing, but he knew that whether he liked it or not wasn't up to him at this time, and he still had to consider Catherine's feelings.
So Louis had to stay with Catherine and dance in the arena for almost an hour and a half, until he was a little disoriented, before Catherine reluctantly led him back to the sidelines.
However, he was not idle. Ye Ziyan came to ask him to dance again. After finally getting rid of Ye Ziyan, Christa and Sakuya also came to invite him. So he had no choice but to endure his impatience and go to the dance floor with them.
It took Louis a long time to regain his freedom, and he returned to his seat with a look of utter despair.
"I have to admit, I didn't eat enough just now." Louis sighed, tapped the table as usual, ordered a bunch of things he wanted to eat, and then rested his chin on his hand to watch the people dancing in the room.
The main table was now empty. Professor Dumbledore was dancing with Professor Sprout, the Headmaster of Hufflepuff, while Ludo Bagman was dancing with Professor McGonagall. Mr. Lovegood, the stay-at-home dad, was with his daughter Akko, letting her step on his feet as he slowly taught her how to dance, though Akko's expression clearly showed some reluctance.
Karkaroff had vanished by now, and the most eye-catching figure was Mrs. Maxim, who was waltzing with Haig, weaving joyfully through the students, leaving a wide, avenue-like path across the dance floor. One might irresponsibly guess that this was due to their physiques.
As another piece of music ended, everyone applauded again. Ludo Bagman, with great gentlemanly manners, kissed Professor McGonagall's hand and nimbly made his way back into the crowd. At that moment, Fred and George caught up with him.
Louis didn't seem to care much, picked up a piece of blueberry pie and took a bite.
"Tell me, what are they doing?" A voice rang in his ears. Louis turned around and saw that it was Percy.
"Percy? What brings you here?" Louis swallowed his blueberry pie and asked curiously.
Percy smiled sheepishly. "Am I bothering you? Mr. Crouch has been missing lately, and the Department of Law Enforcement is in complete chaos without him... Good heavens, this is terrible, so I thought I'd come to Hogwarts to see if Headmaster Dumbledore had any thoughts on it."
"What could he possibly think?" Louis smirked, glancing at Percy. "But you, you only think of going back to Hogwarts when something happens?"
Percy was a little embarrassed; he didn't know whether to sit there or leave.
"I told you long ago that the Ministry of Magic is unreliable, but you wouldn't listen and sided with Barty Crouch. That old man doesn't respect you either, he can't even pronounce your name correctly..." Louis sneered twice. "It's good for young people to want to climb the ladder, but they can't forget their roots just because they want to climb the ladder."
"I'm sorry, Louis." Percy felt his face burning. Louis was right, his words were spot on, and they had pierced his heart completely.
"What's the point of your apology?" Louis forked a piece of chicken leg and elegantly stuffed it into his mouth. "Think about it carefully. Since you graduated and started working at the Ministry of Magic, how much time have you actually spent with your family?"
Percy opened his mouth, speechless. He didn't even need to recall that for the past few months, he had been spending all his time with Mr. Bagman, barely going home, and had even had a fierce argument with his mother.
"A man who doesn't take care of his family is never a real man." Louis started spouting his famous quotes. "I won't say anything more. Think it over yourself. Come back to me when you've figured it out."
With that, Louis turned his head away, no longer looking at Percy.
Immediately afterwards, Catherine walked over with a cold expression.
"What's wrong, Little Moon?" Louis asked curiously. "Didn't you go to the bathroom? Did someone upset you?"
"Huh? No." Catherine's expression instantly thawed. "Why would you say that?"
Louis shrugged, indicating that he had asked the unnecessary question.
“I understand, Louis,” Percy said from behind him. “I forgot I’m a Weasley. I should stand with my family, not with those officials at the Ministry of Magic…”
"Good that you understand." Louis smiled and patted Percy on the back. "It's not hopeless yet. Here's what we'll do: I can help you with the deputy director of the Enforcement Division, but don't forget what I told you, what you just thought about, understand?"
"I understand!" Percy nodded solemnly.
At that moment, Harry also came down. The moment he saw Percy, he had an urge to call out "Wetherby," but looking around, the twins weren't there, so he didn't say it.
Otherwise, Percy might blow up the temple.
"Percy," Harry greeted, "what brings you to Hogwarts?"
"I've come to see Headmaster Dumbledore about something." Percy gave an awkward smile, stood up, greeted Louis, and then left, heading towards Dumbledore.
Harry sat down with Lylas Stassah, crossed his legs, and acted very maturely: "What's he doing here? I heard Aunt Molly had a big fight with him. Honestly, I thought he would be the most worry-free child in the Weasley family."
"Every family has its own problems, Harry," Louis said nonchalantly. "We shouldn't meddle in other people's business. What we can do is focus on eating well."
With that, Louis forked a large piece of blueberry pie and placed it in front of Harry: "Here, you just stole my blueberry pie, so here's a big piece for you, eat your fill."
Harry looked at the large blueberry pie in front of him with a somewhat strange expression. How to describe it? It was like the look on someone's face when their stomach is churning with acid.
It wasn't that he had eaten too much earlier, but rather that the blueberry pie was just too cloyingly sweet.
Louis certainly noticed this as well, otherwise he wouldn't have shared the blueberry pie with Harry.
"Are you hungry?" Harry turned to look at Lylastrasa.
Lylastrasa said nothing, took the blueberry pie from Harry, knowing he definitely couldn't eat it.
"So, I still really like the red dragon," Harry said happily. "See, I think Lila is much better than Hermione anyway."
"Don't you feel like there's some kind of murderous intent behind you?" Louis asked Harry cautiously.
Harry chuckled. "How could that be? Who could kill me at this ball?"
As he spoke, he turned his head, and there was Hermione's face in front of him.
"Let's go for a walk, Louis," Harry said decisively, not wanting to stay there for even a minute longer.
Louis glanced at Hermione, whispered a question to Catherine, and after receiving Catherine's permission, immediately got up and followed Harry outside.
"Harry..." Ron murmured Harry's name in an extremely eager tone, but he didn't dare to follow. He knew that if he did, Hermione would definitely punish him.
Louis and Harry walked sideways around the ballroom, keeping their heads down to avoid drawing unwanted attention, and quietly slipped out the door into the foyer.
The front door was wide open, and occasionally a few Durmstrang or Beauxbatons students would pass by. As they descended the steps, the twinkling lights in the rose garden shimmered, as if the stars in the sky were blinking over there.
The layout outside the foyer had been completely altered by magic, with low bushes, ornately decorated winding paths, and enormous stone statues surrounding them.
Louis could hear the very clear splashing sound of water, like a fountain, and occasionally he could see people sitting on carved benches, chatting enthusiastically, and young couples kissing on the benches as if no one else was around.
"The impact is extremely bad!" Louis whispered to Harry. "Look at them, they have no shame. You must never become like them."
Harry nodded awkwardly, blushing as he recalled sitting there with Lyrastassa.
?
A question mark flashed through Louis's mind: Why are you blushing over a teapot?
He didn't press the matter further, and led Harry along a winding path through the rose bushes, but after only a few steps, they heard a very familiar voice.
"I don't understand why you're making such a fuss, Igor."
Louis turned around and gestured for Harry to be quiet, then quietly led him over, just in time to see Professor Snape talking to Karkaroff.
"Severus, oh God, you absolutely can't pretend this didn't happen!" Karkaroff's voice sounded frightened and hoarse, as if afraid of being overheard. "It's become more and more obvious over the months. I'm very worried now, I can't deny it..."
"Then run away," Snape's voice sounded extremely impatient. "Run away, run as far away as possible. Don't worry, I'll make an excuse for you... but don't expect me to come with you. I'll stay at Hogwarts."
"Hogwarts? You've gone mad... Ah, I know, it's because of that woman, isn't it!" Karkaroff's voice was almost frantic. "What's so great about her that she's worth all this..."
Harry glanced at Louise with a smug look and whispered, "Could it be Aunt Emma?"
Then, he stopped laughing.
"Even though she's dead, you're still protecting her son, that boy who survived the ordeal? Ha, how laughable, look at yourself..."
Harry's face grew increasingly grim. Damn it, it's my mom?
It's like someone who's been gossiping about their own home.
Before he could finish speaking, Snape pulled out his wand and blasted the rose bushes apart. His face was grim, and his expression was extremely unpleasant. Screams erupted from many of the rose bushes, and several dark figures sprang out from within.
"Ten points deducted from Ravenclaw, Fawcett!" Snape berated fiercely as a girl ran past him. "Ten points deducted from Hufflepuff too, Stebbins!" another boy chased after the girl.
"And what are you two doing?" Professor Snape appeared in front of the two who were eavesdropping.
"Of course not because I saw you chasing away those two lovebirds, Professor," Louis replied politely, glancing at Karkaroff, who returned a forced smile. Louis continued, "Professor, you know me, I'm afraid of the dark, so I brought Harry with me to find you."
Snape squinted at him, his expression indifferent, clearly not believing Louis's nonsense.
"Of course, I didn't want to come to you either," Louis shrugged, deciding to pass the buck. "But my mom insisted I come, so I had no choice."
Snape hesitated for a moment, then instinctively chose to believe Lewis's version of events. He asked, "What is it?"
"Oh, it's nothing serious." Louis glanced at Karkaroff again, then hesitated, as if he wanted to say something but didn't.
Karkarov coughed twice and tactfully said, "Well, I have something to attend to, so I'll take my leave first."
After Karkaroff left, Louis leaned close to Snape and whispered, "The Resurrection Stone."
Snape immediately perked up, straightened his back, and made as if to go back, but was stopped by Louis.
"I lied just now, Professor. It wasn't my mother who called you." Louis rubbed his nose. "The news about the Resurrection Stone is just a clue I have. Don't ask where it came from. Anyway, this clue is absolutely reliable."
"I believe you." Snape nodded. Although his student was usually a bit unreliable, when it came to reliability, no one at Hogwarts was more reliable than him, not even Dumbledore.
"Then let's do it tomorrow, Professor," Lewis said softly. "After Karkaroff and the Weasley twins have finished their match, we can talk about it together in the Headmaster's office. I think Professor Dumbledore will be interested in it too."
Snape glanced at him, as aloof as ever, nodded dramatically, flicked his cloak, and vanished like a bat, leaving without a trace.
