Chapter 29 The Senior Who Wants to Eat Louis
But this background music doesn't feel out of place on the two of them at all; perhaps it's a way of compensating for their inability to speak.
There's a saying that goes, "When God closes a door, he closes a window."
Oh no, I'm just opening a window for you.
But then again, Jerry is definitely much more pleasing to the eye than that 1.9-meter-tall dead rat who likes to procrastinate, isn't he?
"What...are they?" Catherine asked, sounding surprised. It was the first time she had seen Tom and Jerry.
The main problem is that Catherine's family doesn't have a television.
"They are two...magical creatures." This time, Louis wasn't lying; the two of them were indeed magical.
And it's incredibly amazing.
Don't you see how they can turn into cat pancakes and mouse chips and still be jumping around like madmen...?
The main characters in hilarious slice-of-life anime are truly invincible, you know?
While Louise and Catherine were talking, Jerry, seeing that the two hadn't noticed him, sneakily pulled a firecracker from behind his back and stuffed it into Tom's arms.
Tom, oblivious to what was happening, kept staring at his new owner. Seeing that Tom hadn't noticed his actions, Jerry grew angry and kicked Tom in the backside.
"Ouch... Ouch ouch ouch ouch..." Tom jumped three feet high in pain, howling loudly. He turned his head and glared angrily at Jerry, but just as he was about to explode, Jerry pointed to his chest.
Along with Jerry's movements, there was also a "ding ding ding" sound effect of fingers tapping.
Tom looked into his arms in the direction Jerry was pointing, and what he saw startled the cat so much that it leaped into the air, its fur bristling and its eyes bulging out in an unnaturally long way.
"Quick...hurry up and throw it away."
Louis quickly told Tom to throw away the huge, frightening firecracker. Tom finally reacted when he heard him shout, and just as he raised his hand to throw it, the fuse burned down to the bottom. With a "pop," the huge firecracker split in two, revealing a smaller, burning firecracker inside.
To Louis and Catherine's astonishment, just like Russian nesting dolls, the firecracker kept splitting open, revealing a slightly smaller one, until finally, a firecracker smaller than a little fingernail was revealed.
Tom picked up the small firecracker, pointed at it with his other hand, gave Louis a classic dismissive smile, and then put the firecracker to his nose.
Louis quickly pulled his arm around his senior's waist and backed away, his hands still moving as he pointed his wand forward: "Protego!"
No sooner had he finished speaking than a loud explosion rang out, and as the smoke cleared, Tom's dark cat face was revealed.
The shockwave from the explosion nearly knocked Louis off his feet. I really don't know how Tom survived such a violent explosion.
Perhaps this is the power of an anime protagonist.
"Jerry's flying in!"
Jerry, who was trying to run away, was pulled into Louis's hand by an invisible force. The situation was beyond his control. Jerry looked at him, his white teeth gleaming.
"You two...sigh." Louis didn't know what to say either: "It's fine to joke around, but don't be so destructive. This school can't afford the mess you two make."
"Did you understand?" Louis looked at the two of them very seriously.
Tom's smeared face had recovered. He wanted to cause trouble for Jerry, but was afraid of angering Louis, so he could only nod. Jerry did the same, nodding rapidly, complete with a nodding sound effect.
"You two can come with me." Louis patted Tom's head and then rubbed Jerry's forehead with his thumb. "From now on... we're family."
The two rascals nodded their heads rapidly, especially Tom, whose greatest fear was being kicked out of the house by his owner and becoming a stray cat. Now that Louise had taken him in, he was overjoyed.
Jerry... Jerry didn't care. The main reason he nodded was that he found Louis pleasing to the eye.
Of course, part of it was because he couldn't live without Tom. He knew it wasn't appropriate to always tease Tom, but he just couldn't help it.
Now that he'd accepted the family, Jerry didn't stand on ceremony. He tugged at Louis's sleeve, pointed to his wide-open mouth, licked his lips, patted his belly, and looked at him expectantly.
They're hungry.
Louis patted Jerry on the head and asked Catherine, "Catherine, want to go to the kitchen for some food?"
Catherine nodded. She liked the cute Jerry, but Jerry seemed afraid of her and wouldn't let her touch him at all.
"Why is he so afraid of me?" the senior asked, puzzled.
"It's in their nature, I learned from Muggle TV shows that rats are one of the snakes' diets," Louis shrugged.
Catherine, who had already walked away, stopped in her tracks upon hearing this, turned back and looked at Louis with a very dangerous gaze, licking her lips with her bright red tongue: "I'd rather eat you than a rat."
Eat me? How? Where?
Seeing his senior's subtle actions, Louis realized in that instant that he had to marry her.
"No, you can't be astringent," Louis said firmly and righteously.
This time, there was no Dumbledore robbing them on the road, nor was there any Filch patrolling. The two, a cat and a mouse, arrived at the Hogwarts kitchen without any trouble.
The main reason is... it's not bedtime yet.
Generally speaking, few young wizards would venture into the kitchen to forage for food, not even the Weasley twins... Oh, they had just slipped out of the kitchen with a paper bag in their arms. When Louis saw them, he greeted them, and then fled in panic upon seeing Catherine.
Their infamous reputation is well-deserved; the twins will never forget the pain of being hung upside down for an hour by the eldest daughter of the Worley family.
It hurts, it hurts too much.
The house-elves were overjoyed to see Louis, especially Aslo, who kept wiping away tears. Louis didn't know why the house-elves were being so kind to him... he felt somewhat overwhelmed with gratitude.
It's absurd to think that a simple act of kindness could win such strong favor from house-elves... He certainly didn't believe it.
But Louis didn't intend to delve too deeply into it. There was no need to look into things too closely, in case something really came up.
As Louis expected, Tom and Jerry were indeed good with pens. Tom ordered a bunch of meat dishes, while Jerry preferred cheese, the kind with eyes. The house-elves brought it out like a whirlwind, and the cat and mouse devoured it with lightning speed. The house-elves couldn't even keep up with their eating pace.
It's funny, when the cheese was first served, Jerry ate it so fast that he swallowed it whole, stretching the mouse into a triangle shape exactly like the cheese...
If we're talking about unscientific things, Tom and Jerry are truly unscientific; magic and shapeshifting are totally lame in comparison...
