"That's true, but..." Hermione clearly still couldn't accept this explanation; she was a bit emo. "Well, I don't really know how to describe it, it just feels really off."
"Sometimes, not thinking about anything is a kind of happiness." Louis raised his eyebrows and wrote down the dishes he wanted to eat on the card.
Harry had completely lost interest in playing chess. After quickly losing to Ron, he started asking Jerry all sorts of questions—heaven knows that during countless difficult days, the only solace he found was peeking through the crack in the door at his cousin Dudley playing Tom and Jerry on videotape.
Jerry wasn't averse to this kind-hearted savior. Besides, he was the kind of recklessly bold social butterfly. Social anxiety? Not at all. Only that blonde wicked woman could make him feel a slight sense of danger.
"I have to say, you don't look like my Scabbers," Ron said, chewing on an apple and commenting on Jerry. "Good heavens, even though he's different from other mice, the first thing I think of when I see him is a mouse."
As he spoke, he pulled Banban out of his pocket: "Banban, go and make some new friends."
"I should remind you, Jerry is more like your two older brothers in terms of personality." Louis watched as Jerry pulled out a skateboard shoe from somewhere, put Squirrel inside, and slid it from one end of the table to the other with lightning speed. If Percy hadn't been quick-witted, Squirrel would definitely have performed a flying squirrel act.
"He's just as bad as George and his friend." Ron took the mouse Percy handed him, looking at it with pity. "Oh, my poor Scabbers... he's so old, he shouldn't be treated like this..."
"How big is it?" Louis asked deliberately.
"It's 11 years old." Ron was clearly still reeling from the heartache, and Louis completely understood. After eleven years of companionship, Scabbers was like family to him—even though it used to be Percy's mouse, it still got along well with him.
I wonder what Ron would do if he knew that this rat was a short, fat man with a sleazy appearance.
Will I feel nauseous?
"Eleven years?" Hermione interjected. "Uh, is it really possible for a mouse to live for eleven years? I've heard that cats can live that long, though."
"I don't know, maybe it's very long-lived," Ron sighed.
Jerry was slapping his thigh and laughing heartily, accompanied by the classic laughter of a violin. Everyone stopped worrying about why Banban was so long-lived and turned to look at Jerry, curious about how a mouse could laugh like a violin.
"Mr. Mountbatten? Mr. Mountbatten?" Professor McGonagall's voice came from behind him. Louis turned around and saw Professor McGonagall looking at him from a distance with a serious expression.
He quickly put Jerry in his pocket and went over to ask, "Professor, did you need something?"
"Professor Dumbledore is looking for you. He's in the Headmaster's office on the eighth floor." Professor McGonagall's expression was very serious. "The password is 'Lemon Olaf,' remember it."
"Yes, Professor," Louis replied readily. "But Professor, I have a small question."
"What?"
"I don't know the way..." Louis said innocently.
"Okay, come with me."
Inside the headmaster's office, Dumbledore was chatting with a portrait that appeared to be wrapped in a large turban.
"I don't understand, Dumbledore, why are you protecting him so much... Someone actually broke a classmate's legs in school, he should be punished immediately..."
The portrait conveyed an extremely angry tone.
Dumbledore clicked his tongue and said slowly, "Don't rush, Phineas. He's a Slytherin, well, a pure-blood wizard."
"He should be put on high alert, damn it." Phineas Black's tone took a complete 180-degree turn: "How could he possibly lay a hand on a classmate unless he was driven to desperation? It must be, Dumbledore, ha... Slytherin's genius!"
Phineas looked smug, with a hint of pride in his expression.
"The injured student belongs to the Black family," Dumbledore kindly reminded him.
"Heh... Sirius's in Azkaban, Regulus's dead, how could the Black family possibly have any descendants?" Phineas's expression held a hint of disdain. "You mean Patrick? Heh, that adopted Mud—a Muggle half-breed, begging at the Black's house?"
That expression clearly showed utter disdain.
As they were talking, the principal's office door opened, and Professor McGonagall led Louis in.
"Oh, look who's here! It's our Slytherin genius—" Phineas exclaimed with genuine delight, "So elegant, so incredibly elegant! Truly worthy of being our Slytherin genius!"
Professor McGonagall's lips twitched, and she forced herself to leave the principal's office, suppressing the urge to reprimand him.
"Enough, Phineas!" It was another portrait that spoke, depicting a kind-looking woman: "A first-year student so ruthless, and you not only don't condemn him, but you're actually praising him?"
"Relax, Delis," Phineas said nonchalantly. "Slytherin has finally produced a genius; don't scare our little one."
"You!" Principal Delis was clearly angered and speechless, choked by Phineas's words.
She was an exceptionally talented therapist during her lifetime; she was a kind person and couldn't bear to see others get hurt.
"Alright, Ms. Delis, and Phineas, stop arguing." Dumbledore stopped their quarrel and looked at Louise: "Lemonade, perhaps?"
"Okay, Principal, I just had a bit too much salt this morning," Louis said cooperatively. "Low sugar, thank you."
It's best to eat less sugar first thing in the morning, or you'll end up like Leonardo DiCaprio with a water gun.
"Eating sweets is a happy thing." Dumbledore beckoned, and a glass of chilled lemonade appeared on the table. He gestured for him to sit down. "Please, Louis, tell me why you treated Black that way?"
"He's not surnamed Black, that damned, filthy half-breed, he's a disgrace to the noble soul of the Black family!" Phineas shouted.
Then Principal Delis and several others tied him to a chair, gagged him tightly, and he struggled in vain, which looked extremely amusing.
Louis chuckled to himself, looking down for a moment before finally reacting. He looked up at Dumbledore and replied with a smile, "Professor, I had no choice. Senior Black openly challenged your and Headmaster Snape's policies in the common room and even bullied a fellow student. This wasn't directed at me; it was a challenge to your and Headmaster Snape's authority."
