I manufacture weapons in the Middle East and am wanted globally?

Chapter 2: What kind of hard labor? Call in experts!

He stepped back, his back slamming against the metal cabinet with a loud thud.

Those two things didn't move.

She tilted her head and looked at him with an innocent expression, like two pigs who had made a mistake.

Chen Zheng composed himself and looked carefully.

This thing has three fingers, short and thick, but the fingertips are very flexible, and the nail crevices are clean.

He was wearing work clothes—gray with two pockets and a logo on his chest, the same fanged monster icon from his phone.

A monster in overalls?

Chen Zheng opened his mouth, but after a long while, he managed to squeeze out a sentence:

"You...squat down, put your hands on your head, like a Frenchman."

The two things looked at each other, then squatted down, covered their heads, and stuck out their buttocks, their movements so synchronized that they seemed to have been trained.

My phone vibrated.

Chen Zheng looked down at the screen.

Congratulations! Summoning successful!

[Monster Peasant x2]

*Machining accuracy +10%, machining speed +10%!*

[Hint: Monster workers do not need to eat or drink, nor do they need to sleep. They can work continuously for 24 hours. They can understand human language and respond with simple syllables. They are naturally incredibly strong and proficient in using various machines, making them invaluable basic workers.]

[Important Note: The monster workers are seen as ordinary humans by others!!!]

[Important reminder: Monster workers cannot withstand missile or bullet attacks; please take precautions.]

After Chen Zheng finished reading, he looked up and then looked at the two things squatting on the ground.

"You two go and lift the mold off the machine tool so we can take a look." Chen Zheng wanted to see if they were incredibly strong.

The two creatures looked at him and nodded vigorously. The two monster laborers shook their arms and lifted a piece of uncut blacksmith's block off the machine tool.

This... this iron block weighs over 2000 jin (1000 catties)!

Chen Zheng swallowed hard, then thought of those two laborers who had a +15% processing and precision bonus, making their work incredibly enjoyable!

Thinking of this, Chen Zheng rummaged through his office and found a set of motor shaft parts, which he then handed to them.

Those two truly deserve to be called fierce...orcs, masters of all kinds of basic processing!

Once I got the dimensional drawing, I was like a clockwork toy, and I immediately went to the CAK5085 CNC lathe to start operating it.

I don't know if it's just my imagination, but it seems like the machine tools have increased in speed.

After about 30 seconds, the monster peons brought over the motor shaft parts.

"So fast?!"

He checked it with an outside micrometer, and his eyes widened in surprise—it was exactly the same precision as the drawing!

No need for repairs!

Although Chen Zheng hadn't attended any university, he had worked as a CNC operator for several years, so he knew that modern machinery was all about precision.

If both high precision and high speed are required…

To put it bluntly...

What kind of bullshit giants are they! What Volkswagen, GM, Toyota, Samsung, Mitsubishi, Siemens?

They will all be trampled underfoot!

"It looks like we're about to strike it rich!"

……

From level one to level two of the Monster Factory, depending on your regional influence and according to the app's real-world data, upgrading to level two will allow you to summon a wider variety of monsters.

A level 1 monster peon costs 1000 gold coins, which are pegged to US dollars, RMB, and euros, roughly equivalent to 1 US dollar per peon.

The way to get gold coins is to make the monsters earn money.

Items that pass through the monster's hands have "monetary value".

Why not use rubles?

It's too hard even to wipe my butt.

Mercenaries don't recognize rubles... I'm talking about the Indian ruble.

Chen Zheng checked his app and found that the system application had also given him a chance to win a machining tool in a lucky draw.

A Russian turntable was divided into sixty sections, mostly containing pliers, wrenches, impact drills, and even hammers.

There are some large processing tools, but not many.

Chen Zheng clicked on the middle [Lottery] option, and the roulette wheel immediately started spinning.

“!!!!!!”

Chen Zheng watched nervously, and when the pointer slowly stopped in the [T2108 Deep Hole Drilling Machine] column, Chen Zheng was stunned.

"Congratulations on drawing the T2108 Deep Hole Drilling Machine (Excellent Quality). The system is giving you one free item level upgrade. Do you want to use it?"

【Yes! 】

T2108 Deep Hole Drilling Machine (Rare Quality) Attributes: Drilling Speed +120%, Accuracy +70%!

Reminder: All items purchased or obtained through the lottery in the store cannot be sold to others. Once sold or stolen, they will immediately be downgraded to ordinary items without any attributes.

Chen Zheng was very familiar with the T2108 deep hole drilling machine!

His nickname among the common people is—Kojiro!

This thing is extremely popular. It was involved in the NX "underground arms factory" case in 2004, the Wu Zhiqiao major gun manufacturing and trafficking case, and other illegal gun manufacturing and trafficking cases!

This is typical of what the eldest brother uses.

Good heavens…

Is this forcing oneself to become an "underground arms processor"?

To be honest, Chen Zheng was quite excited...

After all, what man can remain indifferent to firearms?

Chen Zheng stared at the words "[T2108 Deep Hole Drilling Machine (Rare Quality)]" on his phone screen, his heart pounding like a pile driver.

He looked around. The factory was quiet, except for the two monster laborers squatting next to the machine tools, staring at him with wide eyes, occasionally making a "gurgling" sound.

A message popped up on the phone screen: "Summon the T2108 deep hole drilling machine?"

【Yes. 】

In that instant, a machine appeared out of nowhere in the corner of the factory, where there used to be piles of scrap metal.

The machine body is grayish-white, over a meter long and half a person tall. The drill rod gleams coldly, and there isn't a single rust mark on the guide rail.

The oil level was full, the power cord was new, and even the nameplate was shiny, as if it had just been taken out of the box.

Chen Zheng walked over and reached out to touch it.

It's cold.

The metallic feel is real.

Chen Zheng stood up and took a deep breath.

He had an idea, so he took out his phone, opened his browser, and searched for "Makarov PM gun barrel blueprints" on the Schematic-Works website.

There are tons of search results.

This is hardly a secret—it's an old gun from World War II, and the blueprints are already widely available. Of course, the originals haven't been released; most are reconstructed by seasoned military enthusiasts based on actual objects.

Chen Zheng found the one that looked clearest, clicked on it, zoomed in, and took a screenshot.

Then he walked up to the two monster laborers and showed them his phone screen.

"Can you make this?"

Two laborers huddled together, their four big eyes fixed on the screen, blinking rapidly.

Then one of them nodded and made a muffled "Gurgle".

The other one has already started moving.

It walked over to the pile of steel, which was a pile of ordinary carbon steel, No. 45 steel, which his father had bought last year. It was originally intended to be used to make a batch of agricultural machinery parts, which are also quite common in Syria.

The laborer bent down, rummaged through the pile of steel with his three short, thick fingers, and picked one out.

A round steel bar with a diameter of 32 mm and a length of approximately 400 mm.

It clamped the round steel in a vise, picked up a piece of chalk, and drew a line on the steel—the cutting length.

Another laborer had already started the saw.

A hissing sound rang out, and iron filings fell down. Twenty seconds later, the material was ready.

Chen Zheng glanced at the time: 2:47 PM.

The two laborers worked together seamlessly.

One worker carried the cut material toward the drilling machine, while another was already adjusting the clamps and installing the drill bit. The chuck of the T2108 deep hole drilling machine was hydraulic. The worker pressed a button, and the chuck clamped with a click.

The drill bit began to rotate.

High-speed rotation.

The cutting fluid sprayed from the nozzle, poured onto the drill bit, and emitted a wisp of white smoke.

Chen Zheng leaned closer to take a look.

The drill bit advanced steadily through the steel, neither too fast nor too slow. The discharged iron filings were fine spirals, a bluish-purple color from the high temperature. The laborer stood in front of the control panel, three fingers pressed on the feed handle, his eyes fixed on the drilling depth, his pupils unmoving.

The most difficult aspects of deep hole drilling are chip removal and heat dissipation.

If the hole is drilled too deep, the drill bit will get stuck and the workpiece will be ruined. But this T2108 has a rare quality buff—drilling speed +120%, accuracy +70%, and most importantly, the Monster Peasant buff stacks!

The laborer operated the drill with fluid grace, the drill going in and out repeatedly without the slightest hesitation.

Chen Zheng stared at the round steel bar, watching it gradually transform into a pipe.

The first step: drilling through holes. For 45# steel, the through hole is 7.82 mm in diameter and 110 mm in length. In ordinary factories, this work would be done in several steps, and the drill bit would need to be withdrawn to remove chips. If you are not careful, the drill bit will deviate. But the worker drills all the way to the bottom. When the drill bit is withdrawn, the iron chips are completely removed.

The second step: reaming. A reamer is used to enlarge the through hole to 8.2 mm. This is to smooth the inside of the barrel and reduce bullet friction.

The third step: reaming. A reamer is then used to finish the inner wall, bringing the hole diameter to an accuracy of 8.22 mm, with a tolerance controlled within 0.01 mm.

The fourth process is rough turning of the outer diameter. The round steel bar is clamped onto the CAK5085 CNC lathe and cut once to reduce the outer diameter from 32 mm to 14 mm, leaving a 0.5 mm allowance.

The fifth step: external diameter finishing. The finishing tool is changed, and the final cut is made, with the outer diameter accurate to 13.8 mm, with a tolerance of 0.02 mm. Simultaneously, the front sight base at the front of the barrel and the breech profile at the rear are machined.

The sixth step: milling. The workpiece is moved onto the Haas VF-2 vertical machining center. The operator loads the program and presses start. The milling cutter rotates, milling the chamber opening at the rear of the barrel, the beveled surface of the ejection port on the side, and the dovetail groove at the front sight position.

The seventh step: drilling. Returning to the T2108 deep hole drilling machine, we drilled the fixing pin holes for the sight base and the rear sight seat. These are small holes, 2 millimeters in diameter, requiring high positional accuracy.

The eighth step: rifling.

This is the most crucial step in the process.

Is the Makarov PM a smoothbore gun? No, that's nonsense. The PM's barrel is rifled, with four right-hand rifling grooves and a twist rate of 240 mm.

Chen Zheng watched as the monster laborer took something out of a toolbox next to the drilling machine: a wire drawing head.

That's an accessory for deep hole drilling machines, specifically designed for rifling.

The laborer installed the machine head, adjusted the angle, and began pulling the cable.

One cut, two cuts, three cuts, four cuts.

Each time it is pulled back, a shallow spiral pattern appears on the inner wall of the barrel.

The cutting fluid kept spraying, and the metal shavings were as fine as hair. (Did you learn that? Just don't reveal it was me later~)

2:59 PM.

The laborer took the finished gun barrel off the machine tool, held it in both hands, and handed it to Chen Zheng.

"Gurgle."

Chen Zheng took it while wearing gloves.

The gun barrel was still hot, at a temperature of forty or fifty degrees Celsius. It had only been out of the coolant for a short time, and he held it in both hands as if it were a freshly baked baguette.

He looked down.

The silver-gray metallic surface bears fine, even marks from the cutting tool, reflecting light like silk. The chamfered edges of the holes at both ends are smooth and burr-free. The dovetail groove of the sight base is sharply defined, and the position of the fixing pin hole is so precise that no deviation is visible.

He raised the gun barrel, looked into the hole in the light coming through the window.

Four rifling grooves spiral out to the other end, with smooth and uniform lines and consistent depth. The inner wall is as smooth as a mirror, with not a single knife mark visible.

Chen Zheng's hands were trembling slightly.

He knows how a gun barrel is made.

In a typical factory, how many processes, how many machine tools, how many workers, and how much time are involved from raw material preparation to finished product?

Material cutting: a saw, one worker.

Rough machining: lathe, one worker.

Heat treatment: Heat treatment workshop, specialized personnel.

Deep hole drilling: For a skilled worker, this process alone takes up most of the day on a deep hole drilling machine—because it requires repeated retraction and chip removal, with the drill bit advancing and retracting a little at a time. If the worker gets nervous, the drill bit will break, and the workpiece will be ruined.

Finishing: CNC lathes, including programming, machine adjustment, and operation.

Rifling: Specialized rifling machines and specialized rifling masters. There are no more than a hundred people in all of China who can do this job well. They are all master craftsmen who rely on their feel and experience. They do it for a lifetime. It is purely hand-rifling.

Whether or not it will work out is a different matter.

Inspection: Endoscopic examination, measuring instrument measurement, target shooting test.

A qualified gun barrel takes anywhere from a week to half a month from start to finish.

The scrap rate is also high; items with even the slightest flaw are thrown away.

And what about yourself?

From the time the blueprints were given to those two people until now—

Twelve minutes.

Twelve minutes had passed, and even as a seasoned pilot, Chen Zheng hadn't taken off yet!

A Makarov PM gun barrel, from the round steel to the finished product, with the rifling already done.

What about precision? He hadn't used measuring tools yet, but just by looking at it, by feeling it, and by his many years of experience in CNC machining, he knew...

This gun barrel is many times better than those cheap, low-quality guns on the market.

It might even be better than the original.

Chen Zheng stood in the middle of the factory, holding the gun barrel, stunned.

Two monster laborers squatted at his feet, looking up at him, waiting for the next instruction.

How much can I sell this gun barrel for?

Chen Zheng's mind was racing.

What is the cost of a gun barrel?

A meter of No. 45 round steel costs only a few dozen yuan. This gun barrel is only 400 millimeters long, so the cost is at most twenty yuan. Electricity? That little bit of electricity is negligible.

Labor? Labor is free; those two things don't get paid.

If you're selling...

On the Syrian black market, a used Makarov PM pistol, fully functional, costs between $150 and $200.

New ones, starting at three hundred US dollars.

The barrel is the core component. A new barrel, paired with an old slide and magazine, can refurbish a gun.

Chen Zheng felt his head was getting hot.

Exorbitant profits!

Exorbitant profits!

It's no wonder Chen Zheng wanted to make quick money. The family of the injured Syrian worker said they'd give him three days, and he meant three days; if they didn't, they'd really kill him.

But who should we sell it to?

Online? No way.

Doing this kind of business online makes you vulnerable to phishing scams. Although Syria is chaotic, it's not a lawless zone; you might end up selling your goods to intelligence agents.

He needs a place.

A physical, offline place with buyers.

Chen Zheng thought for a moment, and a place name popped into his mind:

Delaware City's garbage street!!!
