My physics masters couldn't possibly be grand mages.
Chapter 57: The Small Circle
Bourne looked at the two trees that had been pierced.
They had been standing at the door for several minutes, but they didn't go in because they sensed the magical aura.
This usually means that someone is experimenting with magic, and it would be impolite to intrude like this.
Bourne carefully examined the hole in the tree; it was very penetrating, and its power should be around level two or three.
In his mind, only high-pressure jets could usually cause such penetrating damage.
However, there were clearly no water stains around.
The two walked silently into the courtyard. Bourne smelled the familiar ozone in the air and immediately guessed the nature of the magic he had just witnessed.
But... how did you do it?
In his mind, the main destructive power of lightning magic comes from the electric current itself.
However, the trees showed no signs of charring, indicating they were not directly struck by lightning.
It's more like... restraining the raging energy of lightning and then imbuing it into something?
Bourne looked at Tesla and Char in the yard and introduced them to the two people beside him.
"Professor Dore, Elder Barnard. This is Char, Professor Einstein's student, and this gentleman next to him is Mr. Tesla."
Dole nodded to Tesla. "Hello, my name is Dole Vervia, and I'm here to see His Excellency Einstein."
Tesla raised an eyebrow, exchanged a glance with Xia, and then asked, "What do you want with him?"
"Branches—"
The door was pushed open, and Einstein walked out, drawing all eyes to him.
Dolai didn't speak, but looked at the tall, upright old man standing beside him.
"I apologize for the intrusion," Barnard said, bowing slightly to Einstein. "Some of the younger members of our family were rather impetuous recently, causing you trouble. The patriarch sent me to apologize in person, with a small gift to express my sincere respect."
He then took out a silver key from his pocket.
"This is the key to the alchemy laboratory on the seventh floor of the West District of the Tower of Truth." Barnard's tone was even lower. "It's fully equipped, and you can take the materials yourself. The Vilvia family has been using it for three generations, and now... it belongs to you."
Einstein glanced at the key, said nothing, and simply looked at Char.
Char walked over and took the key from Barnard.
Why not take advantage of it?
To be honest, they weren't surprised that the Vilvia family came; in fact, they were even late.
After that incident, the other Golden Families and the Tower of Truth would have grievances against them.
If it could bring Cindy to the family, it would certainly be worth it.
The problem is that Cindy was banished and even provoked such a mysterious and powerful sixth-order mage.
Anyone would feel uneasy.
Char looked at the key in his hand.
Tesla and Einstein have been particularly interested in alchemy these days, so they audited a few advanced alchemy courses, which obviously caught their attention.
Alchemy workshops are important to alchemists because many alchemical products are quite dangerous. Alchemy workshops have specialized magic shielding devices to ensure the safety of alchemists to the greatest extent possible.
Not to mention the furnaces, reaction vessels, and other facilities.
Barnard and Dole took a step back and bowed slightly.
"It's just a small token of my appreciation," he said. "Nothing special."
Einstein did not respond, and seeing that the group showed no sign of leaving, he continued.
"Is there anything else?"
Barnard was silent for a moment, his lips moved as if he had something to say, but he swallowed it back.
Einstein didn't rush him; he simply took out his pipe from his pocket, slowly filled it with tobacco, and struck a match.
"laugh-"
The match was lit, and the cigarette was ignited. He took a drag, and the smoke slowly dissipated in the morning light.
"Speak," Einstein said, his voice not loud, but clear.
Barnard's Adam's apple bobbed.
"Your Excellency Einstein," his voice was lower than before, with a deliberate restraint, "about Cindy..."
He paused, seemingly choosing his words carefully, "You will..."
"Exiled," Einstein said.
Barnard was taken aback and pressed for an answer, "Where?"
"A world that has been destroyed."
Barnard and Dora exchanged a glance; they were actually quite familiar with the concept of "another world."
Hell is a standard alternate world.
However, there are strict boundaries between worlds, such as the boundary between hell and the human world, which is the boundary between death and life.
No one can send a person to another world so easily, not even a sixth-order being.
So what is the true strength of the being before us?
Barnard swallowed hard. He actually wanted to leave, but due to the task assigned by his family, he had no choice but to continue.
"Could you... bring her back?"
He quickly added, "The Vilvia family is willing to pay any price."
Einstein raised his head slightly. "I can indeed bring her back."
Barnard's eyes lit up. "Then you..."
"But...why?" Einstein continued to ask.
Barnard's expression froze.
"What do you think I'd be lacking that would require me to bring back a 'trouble'?"
Barnard thought for a moment and said, "I can assure you, she will never be a 'trouble' for you."
"How can you guarantee that?"
A hint of struggle flashed across Barnard's face, but after a moment he said, "We have a backup plan to make her obey."
Einstein raised his eyebrows slightly, almost imperceptibly, glanced at Tesla out of the corner of his eye, and then spoke.
"What?"
Barnard remained silent.
Einstein smiled. "When you give me this so-called backup plan, then come back and talk to me about releasing her."
He turned around, his back to them, and said, "Xia, see them out."
With that, he turned and walked into the villa.
"Your Excellency Einstein!" Barnard seemed to want to say something and took a few steps forward, but was stopped by Char.
He stood between the gate and them and spoke to Barnard.
"Sir, my teacher usually needs to take a nap at this time every day, and you have already disturbed him."
Barnard glanced at the villa with a hint of reluctance, but still slowly exhaled a breath of stale air.
"Let's go, Dorley."
With that, he turned and left, with Dole following closely behind them.
Bourne watched them leave in silence, then turned and met Char's gaze.
Byrne shrugged slightly. "I won't get involved in their affairs, nor will I be allowed to. After all, I'm just a member of a collateral branch. However, my family owes them some favors in the past."
He murmured softly, "Now... it's almost all paid off."
Byrne turned to look at the bullet hole in the tree. "May I ask what kind of magic that was? Kinetic destruction, but it's lightning magic..."
"It's called the Electromagnetic Cannon," Tesla said.
"Electromagnetic cannon..." Bourne pondered the phrase, then looked at Tesla as if realizing something, "Electricity generates magnetism?"
Tesla slightly raised his head. To be able to deduce these things from a name, his intuition and talent were indeed quite good.
"To be more precise, magnetism can also generate electricity," Tesla said.
"Are these the same thing?"
Tesla nodded. "Both originate from charged particles. Stationary charges produce an electric field, while moving charges produce a magnetic field. To use a somewhat inappropriate analogy, it's roughly the difference between ice and water."
Bourne pondered silently. He had a hunch that behind those two words lay a vast, entirely new magical system, large enough to establish its own school.
"Did you find this?" Byrne asked.
However, to his surprise, Tesla directly said:
"no."
"Is that His Excellency Einstein?"
"No, not exactly." Tesla looked at Berne and uttered a name completely unfamiliar to him, "His name was Michael Faraday. The founder of electromagnetic theory."
Byrne was startled and instinctively met Tesla's gaze. His expression was serious, not like he was joking.
This seems to be a real name.
A genius capable of founding a school of thought must be a Grand Magus of the sixth rank or higher.
As he said before, the magical world is inherently small, and magic needs to be built on a vast knowledge system, so it's impossible for there to be so many unknown sixth-order archmages.
But now, not only have two appeared, but there might even be a third?
What does this mean?
This implies that there may be a fourth or fifth one.
Behind this group of people, there is very likely a small circle independent of the magical world.
In fact, the earliest magical world was composed of one secret little circle after another.
As people delve deeper into the study of magic, these smaller circles can only passively integrate into the larger circles.
It has managed to maintain its small circle status until now, and at least three or more sixth-tier individuals have even emerged...
What kind of monsters are the rest of the people in that circle?
So why are they now entering the world?
The more Byrne thought about it, the more chills ran down his spine.
"What's wrong, Professor Bourne?" Char's voice pulled Bourne back from his reverie. "You don't look well."
"Oh, oh, I'm fine." Byrne snapped out of his reverie. "Then I'll take my leave."
With that, he turned and left.
As he walked out of the villa, he turned back and glanced at it with a serious expression.
Instead of going to his own place, he went straight to where Meredith was.
Things are no longer under his control.
This must be reported!
