Decades ago in Amegakure, there lived a black salamander with deadly venom, who was Hanzo's companion in his youth. Unfortunately, it was just an ordinary salamander with a limited lifespan. After the black salamander died, at Hanzo's insistence, its venom sac was implanted into his body.

With the presence of highly toxic venom sacs, Hanzo also developed a very strong resistance to biological toxins.

However, the black salamander's venom was so terrifying that with each breath Hanzo exhaled, a horrifying venomous gas would be released, causing many Amegakure ninja to die from poisoning. Furthermore, the venom intensified with Hanzo's age, to the point that Amegakure practically trembled at the mention of his name, treating him with even greater dread than other Jinchūriki from other villages. Hanzo thus earned the title of Amegakure's Poison Jinchūriki.

Hanzo was forced to wear a mask at that time and started breathing through his mouth, which finally stopped him from accidentally injuring his teammates. That's why he always looked like he was wearing a breathing mask, and he wore it for decades.

During this time, Hanzo rose from an ordinary ninja in Amegakure to his current position as leader. He made Amegakure famous during the Second Shinobi World War, becoming a legend in the ninja world and earning the title of demigod of Amegakure.

In commemoration of their greatest leader, many Rain Ninja in the village have taken pride in wearing breathing masks since then, which has almost become a characteristic of the Rain Ninja.

What no one except himself knew was that the poison sac greatly increased Hanzo's strength and gave him a tremendous resistance to poison, but it was also his weakness. The moment the poison sac was punctured would be Hanzo's death, as even Hanzo could not withstand that deadly poison.

However, this weakness is also Hanzo's last trump card, allowing him to perish together with the enemy.

Hanzo was severely injured and, having used all his trump cards, knew he was no match for Pain and had no way to escape.

So he chose to make a final gamble and puncture the poison sac!

Unfortunately, he didn't know that the Yahiko in front of him was not a resurrected corpse; he was just a corpse, a puppet that appeared to be alive but had actually lost its life.

In the thick, foul-smelling purple poisonous fog, Pain's face remained completely unresponsive, showing no signs of poisoning whatsoever. He gripped Hanzo's neck tightly with one hand, lifting him into the air.

Hanzo gripped Pain's arms with both hands, his eyes wide and bloodshot, staring intently at Pain. His face was filled with disbelief as he forced out a few words through clenched teeth: "Why...why...why is my poison ineffective against you..."

He couldn't understand why this terrifying and potent poison, which even taking the antidote in time wouldn't guarantee survival, and which even he, who had been with the poison for decades, couldn't be immune to and could only last a few seconds longer than others, had no effect on the other party.

This doesn't make sense!

Hanzo faced the same situation as Sasori; even though the black salamander's poison was more potent than Sasori's, it was still useless.

...Poison is useless against puppets, and it's useless against people who are already dead...

"Hanzo..." Pain calmly looked at Hanzo, who was struggling to breathe due to his own poison: "Even on your deathbed, you still didn't understand why you lost to me... If you are a demigod of Amegakure, then I am a god who reigns supreme over the ninja world."

"How could mere poison possibly harm a god?"

Could the Rinnegan really grant immunity to poison? Besides reviving the dead, does it possess such miraculous abilities? Is the Sage of Six Paths' eye truly so powerful? Is he really a god? Do gods really exist?

Countless questions swirled in Hanzo's mind.

Unfortunately, his doubts were destined to remain unanswered.

Pain will not tell him the truth.

"Your time has passed."

Pain looked at Hanzo, who was on the verge of death from poisoning, and said softly.

"Disappear, Hanzo."

Death from poisoning? Pain wouldn't give Hanzo that chance.

Pain's fingers tightened slightly, and Hanzo's struggles intensified. The veins on his forehead bulged, and his face turned red from lack of oxygen. But it was all in vain. Pain wouldn't let him go, Nagato wouldn't let him go, Konan wouldn't let him go, and the poison from the salamander that had been with him for decades would certainly not let him go.

His future was predetermined from the very beginning, and there was absolutely no possibility of changing it.

With a "crack," Hanzo's head tilted to one side at an extremely unnatural angle, and his hands hung limply at his sides.

A legendary ninja who once dominated the ninja world has now died in an extremely ordinary way, his neck snapped.

The moment Hanzo closed his eyes and his heart stopped beating, the seemingly endless, never-ending rain in the sky suddenly stopped. The sky, which had been shrouded in countless thick, dark clouds over Amegakure, slowly opened a crack, as if an invisible hand had torn away a heavy curtain.

A ray of warm sunlight streamed through the crack, landing squarely on Pain. The chakra fluctuations around him hadn't completely subsided, and his pale purple Rinnegan gleamed mysteriously in the sunlight. His slightly raised head gave him the air of a god descending from the heavens, sacred and inviolable. This starkly contrasted with Hanzo, now slumped on the ground, a former legend of the ninja world reduced to a mere roadside figure.

This scene was witnessed by the Rain Ninja, who had been drawn by the battle between the two sides, and it was deeply imprinted in their hearts. The unparalleled shock created a stark contrast, completely overturning their worldviews of the past ten or even decades. In their minds, Hanzo was an invincible legend, the absolute ruler of Rain Village, but the reality before them shattered that legend.

Pain raised his hand again, this time aiming not at the ground, but at the sky.

In an instant, his chakra surged wildly.

"Shinra Tensei!"

A deep, resonant sound echoed throughout the heavens and earth. This was not the ordinary version of Shinra Tensei, but an enhanced version. Although it was still some distance from the Super Shinra Tensei that could destroy Konoha, it still possessed earth-shattering power.

The thick, dark clouds, like a flock of startled crows, vanished without a trace in an instant. Countless rays of sunlight shone down without obstruction, dispelling the perennial gloom of Amegakure, shining on the surviving Amegakure ninja, and illuminating every corner of the village.

The dark clouds that had been hanging over Amegakure Village dissipated.

The sky over Amegakure Village has cleared up.

"From today onwards, I am the new leader of Amegakure." Pain's voice wasn't loud, but it carried an undeniable authority that clearly reached the ears of every Amegakure ninja present. His gaze swept over the crowd, and the cold indifference deep within his Rinnegan inspired awe in everyone.

"Who's in favor, and who's opposed?"

The Rain Ninja exchanged bewildered glances, their eyes filled with shock, confusion, and a barely perceptible glimmer of hope. Shocked by Hanzo's defeat, bewildered about the future, they hoped this powerful and mysterious ninja could bring a different tomorrow to the perpetually war-torn and rain-soaked Rain Village.

No one dared to voice their opposition; in the face of absolute power, any resistance seemed futile.
