Simultaneous Journey: Starting from Holy Terra

Chapter 106 Skaven, Assassination in the Shadows

The latest chapter is now available! Book lovers, hurry back!

The Skaven are the oldest and most vicious race in Warhammer Fantasy, bar none.

They are a group of technologically advanced, morally nihilistic mutant rats, ugly, evil, spreading plagues everywhere, and capable of destroying a country for amusement or petty gains.

Although they are all bad people, vampires, dark elves, greenskins, ogres, wild men, and even chaos warriors all have some commendable or similar qualities.

For example, the most powerful vampire is Aborash, the founder of the Blood Dragon Knights, and the first vampire to successfully overcome his thirst for blood and become unaffected by Nashgar.

He pursued glory, adhered to his beliefs, and behaved very uprightly, appearing to be lawful and neutral.

Take, for example, the dark elf Marus Blackblade. He is selfish, arrogant, and evil, and fits all your expectations of a typical dark elf, but he is loyal to his family and trusts and is friendly to his companions.

Or perhaps there is a primal friendship among the greenskins, and the Chaos Warriors are unwaveringly loyal—at least they don't always think about killing their superiors and taking their place.

As we said before, the Ratman has none of all of the above qualities!

They have no other qualities that can be considered noble or positive. The ratmen openly hate all races. They are more cowardly and paranoid than goblins, more cruel and insidious than dark elves, and more violent and insane than chaos.

Trustworthiness, loyalty, and honor are completely foreign concepts to the Rat People.

Because they are accustomed to slandering others behind their backs, no race will believe the ratmen. As the saying goes, everyone hates the ratmen who cross the street, and the ratmen treat others in the same way.

Of course, aside from the Dark Elves, the two occasionally make pacts and then betray each other.

If we had to sum up this race with just one quality, it would be extreme selfishness!

Every ratman is extremely narcissistic, paranoid, greedy, and vicious!

In essence, every ratman is evil, and at no time will any ratman have any positive feelings toward any creature other than himself!

Rat people can only understand that certain individuals are very valuable assets to them, and are worth cultivating or protecting to avoid wasting them.

But at the same time, they are also very strange.

On the one hand, they are incredibly cowardly, only willing to risk their lives to fight for the sake of high rewards or to avoid being killed by their superiors. Most of the rats would run away as soon as they saw the situation was not good.

On the other hand, they are incredibly reckless. They are extremely bold in gambling games involving profits. If you offer a higher reward, they will point a revolver like the ones used in Russian roulette at their own heads and shoot themselves wildly!

The kind that fires five shots at once!

This created their unique society, where the strongest clans take everything, and every ratman desires to take their place. They are not willing to make sacrifices; they only act to save their own lives.

At the same time, because they are fast in every aspect—running fast, thinking fast, being born fast, growing fast, and dying fast—this unique high metabolic rate makes their brains active and gives them superb control over their bodies.

This allows trained ratmen to easily become powerful assassins!

Meanwhile, the assassins had already infiltrated the room, while the scouts inside were still fast asleep.

This is not to say that they lack professional skills, but rather that these night-running rats moved very quietly and professionally!

The Night Rats' eyes flashed with a cold light as they split up and pounced almost simultaneously.

"Pfft!"

The knife plunged into their bodies, slitting the throats of the still-sleeping scouts.

They killed Ye Ming's elite warriors silently and easily.

If it were on the front lines, these elite scouts could take on three at once and wipe out the entire horde of night-running rats!

Unfortunately, the opponent was not just any Skaven, but an assassin from the Isin clan.

at the same time.

Inside Ye Ming's room, the clan chief, who had cast a strange spell, quickly slipped in from outside the door in an extremely bizarre manner, and then approached Ye Ming's bed with a knife in his hand.

He walked in from the direction of the door, and moonlight shone in through the cracks in the window, casting his shadow on the wall in a dim light.

The grotesque, gigantic rat projection grinned, its sharp knife raised high, and without hesitation, it stabbed towards Ye Ming's pillow.

Stab it!

The blade pierced through the cotton quilt, penetrating into the softness.

not good!

The clan chief instantly sensed something was wrong with the touch!

"Ha ha!"

He whirled around and was greeted by a laughing dwarf, a strange battle axe, and—his head, split open!

"Thump!"

The clan chief was cleaved in two by Gotrike, his blood and brains splattering everywhere.

Gotrick nimbly dodged, and Ye Ming, who was hiding by the bed, was far away. Only Felix was unlucky enough to get splashed on his clothes.

Fortunately, he was wearing the inn's bathrobe.

"They really are ratmen! What do we do next?" Felix asked.

Ye Ming stood up, put on his clothes, quickly gathered his belongings, and prepared to push open the door.

They discovered it by chance. Because Gotrike hadn't been drinking, his nose was incredibly sensitive. As soon as the clan chief ratman approached the door, he smelled the stench emanating from him!

"First, check on the situation of the others. There can't possibly be only one assassination attempt. We need to be careful."

Ye Ming was about to push the door open when Gao Cuike gripped his axe tightly, squinting at the corpse of the clan chief ratman.

"What's wrong?" Ye Ming subconsciously turned around and exclaimed in surprise when he saw what had suddenly appeared.

"This is!?"

……

The ratmen heard the noise and moved quickly, trying to eliminate all the remaining scouts.

However, not everyone was assassinated. Only the Night Rats in the first room succeeded perfectly. The Night Rats that went to the other three rooms accidentally woke up the others after killing one or two people!

"What is that!?"

"Enemy attack!"

The surviving scouts reacted quickly, blocking the incoming blades with pillows or bed boards.

A few of the few who managed to keep their weapons at the edge even managed to turn the tables and kill their opponents!

Upon seeing their target awaken, the ratmen did not hesitate; they roared and jumped out of the window to escape.

"Damn it! There really are rats!"

"Quick! Check on how the adults are!"

The scouts who had miraculously survived grabbed their weapons and, regardless of whether they had killed all the ratmen, rushed out the door and ran towards Ye Ming and his companions' room.

Just as they reached the spot, a shadow suddenly expanded from the darkness, and a sharp dagger silently extended, slicing through the first man's throat.

Then came the second, the third...

Without exception, all the scouts who wanted to support Ye Ming died under the blade of this person hiding in the shadows.

After killing everyone, his eyes were filled with cunning and contemplation. He then rushed back into the shadows and headed towards the underground city.

Inside the room, Ye Ming and his three companions saw a blue portal.

A portal unfolds beneath the feet of the clan chief ratman corpse!

"It's Tzeentch—"

Ye Ming only had time to cry out in alarm and reach out to grab Gotr beside him before he was pulled into the portal beneath his feet by the forces of gravity and the air...
