Hell has invaded, but my Hextech is invincible!
Chapter 13 Grace
[Story Character Mission: Save Sister Grace (Completed)]
[Reward: 200 Experience Points, 100 Gold Coins]
I'm just 50 experience points away from reaching level 3 and unlocking the next Hextech Crafting item.
The first two Hextech syndicates have already yielded the best results. If we get another Tank Engine or Steel Heart, we'll really be taking off.
However, these experience points can only be obtained through random quests and story character quests, and it's unclear when I'll get those last fifty experience points.
A note is also posted at the bottom of the task panel:
If Grace dies within three days, the mission will fail, and all experience and gold will be recovered.
Hextech's brow twitched.
There's actually such a punishment mechanism.
However, he understood that this was because the system was concerned about the upcoming Gates of Hell event.
It's only a few days, not a big problem, anyway, he'll be leaving Manchester soon.
In this one-bedroom apartment, a headless corpse lies in the center of the room, while another body, twisted like a pretzel, leans against the corner, with blood splattered everywhere.
This bloody scene made even Grace, who was used to seeing corpses, feel nauseous.
"Sister, what happened?" Emily whispered.
"Did those three bad guys escape?"
"It's alright, it's alright." Grace had just hugged Emily tightly and covered her eyes.
"They were driven away."
Hex was speechless. Emily, you're a hypocrite, why are you pretending to be innocent? You can see everything clearly with your telepathy. And Grace, your sister isn't blind, what are you afraid she'll see that she shouldn't?
"Emily, where have you been for the past month?" Grace asked, cupping Emily's face with concern.
"I searched for you desperately, but there wasn't a single trace of you!"
"Sister, I'm sorry... I've been kidnapped," Emily said pitifully, like a little white rabbit.
"It wasn't until today that Mr. Horus rescued me from my cage."
Grace suddenly came to life, looking at Hex with teary eyes: "Thank you, Mr. Horus."
Hex then took a closer look at Grace.
Like Emily, she had light blonde hair with slightly curled ends, like downy hair gently caressed by the wind.
Its eyes were also green, a deeper shade, like the shimmering hollows of leaves after rain.
Freckles dotted her nose and cheeks, one after another, like fruits that had been thoroughly sun-dried and were subtly dusted with gold powder. Her skin had a healthy wheat color, was very smooth, and exuded a vibrant vitality.
Her eyebrows and eyes resembled Emily's, as if she were a pitiful, downtrodden person born with a tragic appearance.
They pose no threat whatsoever; on the contrary, they seem easy to bully.
As expected, the character illustrations in this second game are really good-looking.
Hex said, "We need to get out of Manchester as soon as possible."
"Stop chatting here and leave now."
Grace thought he was afraid of retaliation from the Quink Gang, so she quickly replied, "Okay, let's go out and hide right away."
"It's not about hiding, it's about leaving Manchester immediately," Hex emphasized.
Grace was somewhat surprised: "But the Quink gang's influence doesn't extend to the upper city..."
"Stop talking nonsense." Hex pulled Emily under his arm with one hand and grabbed Grace with the other. "Let's go."
"I... I still have some things to pack..."
"Forget about those junks." Hex dragged Grace out of the house.
As soon as I stepped out, a narrow and cramped alley came into view, with dozens of low and dilapidated houses twisted and intertwined, one on top of another, like a crowded and broken beehive. Several large rats scurried past my feet, emitting a putrid smell.
The Lower City and the glamorous Upper City are two completely different worlds.
This place is even more dilapidated than the poorest slums in the real world.
At least the Grace sisters' house had walls and a roof; other houses were at best just thatched huts.
Who would have thought that just one or two kilometers away lies the Upper East Side, a district lined with villas and filled with gentlemen and ladies.
Dirty, foul-smelling, and devastated, everything in the lower town was unbearable to look at.
Hex, dressed in a sharp suit, shiny leather shoes, a top hat, and carrying a cane, looked completely out of place walking around with two girls.
"Mr. Horus, what is going to happen? Could it be..." Grace grew increasingly nervous.
Emily's return filled her with joy, but the gentleman's ruthless methods of killing her, coupled with his insistence on taking her away without explanation, made her increasingly panicked.
Could it be that rescuing Emily offended some powerful force?
Hex was about to explain when he suddenly tensed up and quickly pulled the two of them to the side under the dilapidated eaves.
Immediately afterwards, four or five cars stopped at the alley entrance, and a large number of gangsters, armed and in uniform, got out of the cars one after another and rushed into the depths of the alley without saying a word.
Hex clicked his tongue: "Your nose is really sharp, and you arrived quickly enough."
It's obvious that these people were sent by the United Front to specifically hunt down Emily and him.
The United Front has money and manpower; their orders are more effective than those of municipal officials.
It's perfectly logical that Emily would go to find her sister as soon as she escaped.
Grace saw them too, and stammered nervously, "Who...who are they?"
"The people who kidnapped your sister have come knocking on our door," Hex whispered.
Grace looked at Emily, but Emily hugged her, saying, "It's okay, sister."
"It would be better to escape Manchester."
"It's not that simple," Hextech said.
"The united front is spread throughout Europe and wields immense power."
"Even if they escape to Shinra, they will still be found."
"Unless you find an equally powerful organization to back you up, the trouble will never end."
Do I need to join a church?
The thought of joining the church flashed through my mind, but I quickly suppressed it.
That organization was a complete rip-off; they had far more charlatans than the United Front, and the protagonist was treated like a mere tool.
"Grace, lead the way, and make sure to go where there are fewer people," Hex said.
Grace nodded quickly and darted into a side alley.
Hex carried Emily on his back and led Grace by the hand, weaving back and forth through the stinking, narrow alleyways.
However, a large number of gangsters have broken into this slum and are searching house to house, and the encirclement is gradually tightening.
"Our clothes are too eye-catching; many people have seen us before," Emily whispered a reminder.
Hex nodded. A tall man with two girls, one big and one small, was quite conspicuous in the slums and had been seen by countless people along the way.
"Mr. Horus, what do we do next?" Emily asked in a low voice.
"If this continues, we'll be caught up sooner or later."
He wasn't afraid of ordinary gangsters, but Hextech was afraid of Ada, that dangerous woman, coming after him.
Hex casually took off his top hat, walking stick, and conspicuous suit jacket, and also changed Emily's exquisite outfit, distributing them to the commoners on the street or hanging them on the wall of another street.
He didn't expect to be able to trick the other party away; he just needed to stall for a few minutes.
Just then, another group of gangsters dressed in black flashed past around the corner. Their waists were bulging, indicating that they were carrying weapons.
Well, it seems like it won't be able to delay for even a few minutes.
"Where's the nearest river?" Hextech asked. "We'll take the waterway!"
