The Bizarre Adventure of the Warhammer Guard
Chapter 9 Drachner and the End
Drachnien, also known as "the echo of the first murder in human history" and "the end of the empire".
Drachnien was neither a creation of the Chaos Gods nor a creature naturally conceived in the Warp, but rather the pure will that coalesced in the Warp for the first time in human history the sin of fratricide. It symbolizes humanity's instinct for self-destruction.
Legend has it that in ancient times, a young emperor witnessed his uncle kill his father. This event spurred the young emperor to awaken his psychic powers, and he subsequently killed his uncle.
But this action also resonated with Drachner.
After that, Drachnien became the Emperor's eternal reflection of original sin—a primordial demon representing the evil of humanity, one that could never be destroyed.
Draknien emerged from the shadows in the distance of the web, formless, like a black shadow, moving at will. It transformed into a thread, merging from the demon's roar and taking over the demon's body.
It manipulates the demon's body to wander through the net, killing and absorbing any warp creatures it accidentally touches, merging them into this body, making the entire body grow taller and more bizarre.
Then it came to the wreckage of the Titan mech that had fallen in the battle.
As soon as its tentacles touched the mech, its entire body instantly melted into the Titan mech. Under Drachnien's control, the mech stood up, and flesh began to grow wildly at the damaged parts of the mech.
Immediately afterwards, demonic wings sprouted from the back of the Titan mech, which flapped as it flew toward the Emperor.
"attack!"
With a roar, everyone opened fire on the bizarre, flesh-and-blood mecha demon.
Countless bombs, artillery fire, and lasers slammed into the mech's surface, blasting open the armor and exposing the fragile cables inside. But soon, more and more flesh covered it, making the mech even stronger.
"We must use heavy firepower to destroy this thing in one go, otherwise it will only get stronger," Ra shouted into the communication channel.
Elpis was stunned when he heard the message. He looked at the Spear of the Moon in his hand. Even after slaying countless demons, the weapon in his hand was still unstained and still emitted a silvery-white light. The mysterious patterns on the spear flickered, as if it were breathing or summoning.
Elpis gripped the spear tightly with both hands, channeling his will into the energy annihilation cannon on the spear. Instantly, he felt the Spear of the Moon drawing power from him, and the energy generated within his body after communicating with the Spear of the Moon was also being extracted.
The patterns on the spear lit up, as if streams of energy flowed along the spear shaft to the annihilation cannon at the front, even absorbing the imperial light that shone around it, with golden and silver light converging here.
"Scatter!" Elpis shouted to his colleagues, then pointed his spear at Drachnien.
A moment later, a pure white ball of energy appeared at the muzzle of the annihilation cannon, and the surrounding space rippled due to the convergence of this enormous energy.
Energy has reached its peak! Fire!
Elpis controlled it with his will, and a silver-white ball of light flew out. There was no roar of weapons firing; it simply flew silently toward its target, at a speed that even the Imperial Guard could hardly keep up with, heading towards Drachnien.
The moment they made contact, the entire flesh-and-blood mech was engulfed by white energy. Just like the weapon's name, Annihilation, the flesh-and-blood mech vanished without a trace in an instant, leaving only specks of white light and floating ashes in the air as proof that something had once existed.
"Has that strange thing been destroyed?" Ra asked.
Elpis did not reply. He knew that Drachnien would not die. He kept his eyes fixed ahead, in case anything unexpected happened.
Suddenly, a humanoid figure appeared, its body swirling with black energy, gradually stabilizing and taking shape. It resembled a Stone Age tribal chief, wrapped in clothes made of animal hides, with dark skin, and holding a bronze dagger.
"The echo of the first murder," the Emperor spoke, his voice a blend of light and fire.
"I am the end of the Empire!" Draknien stared at the Emperor, his enormous roar echoing through the net. He opened his mouth and laughed wildly as he charged toward the Lord of Mankind.
The battle between the Lord of Mankind and the Primordial Demon was like a one-on-one duel, with a black aura surrounding them, preventing anyone from getting close.
When the Emperor's attacks were applied to the primordial demons, they had no effect whatsoever, while the demons were able to ignore the Emperor's defenses and directly affect the body of the Lord of Man.
The emperor bled; his face, chest, and shoulders were covered in deep wounds inflicted by the demon.
Elpis was frantic; he wanted to help the Emperor. Was everyone's fate truly unchangeable? Elpis refused to believe it. If nothing could be changed, then he would become a blade and slit the throats of the gods.
Elpis poured his last strength and energy directly into the Spear of the Moon. He felt that he had exhausted everything, and his strong will even caused his soul to be absorbed by the Spear of the Moon.
Charging complete! Elpis is finally able to activate the teleportation device on the Spear of the Moon.
In a flash, Elpis broke through the black barrier and appeared between the Lord of Humanity and the Primordial Demon. With all his might, Elpis abandoned defense and slashed the Demon with the Spear of the Moon.
The Moon Goddess Spear, glowing white, successfully struck the demon, severing its right hand that was wielding the blade.
Success! Elpis was overjoyed.
But before Elpis could rejoice, a sharp pain shot through his chest. The fallen demon's right arm had transformed into a spear, piercing his chest and also the Emperor's.
"The end!" Drachnien laughed wildly, his newly grown right hand easily gripping the spear, lifting the Emperor and Elpis together.
Then, a flash of golden light appeared before Elpis's eyes, the demon vanished, and looking down, the spear in his chest transformed into a magnificent sword made of bone and metal.
"No!" A mournful cry came from not far away.
The Emperor moved, supporting the weakened Elpis with one hand and pulling out the longswords that were stuck in his and Elpis's bodies with the other. He then swiftly threw the longswords, which instantly plunged into La Endymion's chest.
"I'm sorry." Elpis's consciousness was already blurred, and he vaguely heard the Emperor's words. He didn't know if it was directed at Ra or at him.
The immense impact caused Ra to fall to his knees. He stared in disbelief at the longsword embedded in his chest, blinking in disbelief.
He swallowed hard, only to find himself unable to breathe; blood filled his airways and flowed from his mouth. He looked up at the Emperor.
Looking into the Emperor's eyes, Ra seemed to understand everything; he understood his mission.
Farewell, my lord; farewell, my friend.
La glanced at the unconscious Elpis, then at the Emperor, before leaning on his spear, struggling to his feet, slowly turning around, and moving unsteadily.
"Be prepared." The emperor's face was extremely haggard. "All that remains is ashes and dust."
The Emperor's Sword was wielded, and two fire dragons flew from the blade, transforming into two walls of fire that protected a path of ashes.
The Emperor spoke to Ra for the last time. It was also the Emperor's final command.
"run!"
La Endymion, the golden jailer of Drachnien, son of a water thief, received his lord's command for the last time, as always.
Deep into the darkness of the web, far from the light that once bathed us.
He started running.
