As a venomous snake, I evolved into a god through devouring.
Chapter 32 Fury
Scarface glanced at the jerky in Little Beard's hand, his heart pounding.
"He just went there and nothing happened, so there shouldn't be any danger."
Having forced himself to calm down, Scarface cautiously moved forward in the direction the little mustache had pointed earlier.
Unlike the latter, his observational skills were far superior.
Upon closer inspection, traces of animal activity were found all around, and even gray hairs were discovered on some bushes.
Grey wolf?
Not only that... there seems to be another kind of creature, but due to insufficient information, Scarface cannot determine what it is.
He hadn't walked two steps when he saw the tree with dried meat hanging on it.
There was so much food hanging up there that Little Mustache couldn't collect it all in one trip.
Scarface's gaze unconsciously swept across the tree canopy and branches, and he quickly spotted a small cloth bag.
He quickly climbed up and untied the cloth bundle.
There were no treasures inside, just a yellowed map and an unremarkable notebook.
Seeing this, Scarface's rapid heartbeat calmed down slightly.
Adventurers living in the wild are not uncommon, and it's possible that one adventurer even tamed a gray wolf as a pet when he had nothing else to do.
"So you're an adventurer. That makes no sense, that makes no sense."
He breathed a sigh of relief, but then a wicked thought suddenly arose in his mind.
That lowly adventurer caused him so much fear and anxiety; he deserves to die.
As punishment, he accepted all the food.
Wild rabbits and pheasants must have a unique flavor when eaten.
With that in mind, Scarface swept up all the remaining ingredients on the tree.
Upon seeing him return, the man with the small mustache couldn't help but curse.
"Damn, you looked like you'd seen a ghost just now, I was wondering what happened, but it turns out you got more than me."
I at least know to leave a little bit.
"Leave it behind? Whatever we find, it's ours! Don't you have pockets? Put all that stuff in there."
Scarface was now even more greedy and unrestrained than the bearded man. It was as if he wanted to get revenge on the landowner for the embarrassment he had just made.
He took the bag from the bearded man's hand, hurriedly stuffed the contents into it, and then quickly climbed back up to grab the last remaining pieces of dried meat.
"Consider this our provisions for later. Let's go, have a good meal by the river!"
Scarface swung his half-full pockets, a smug smile spreading across his face.
……
Looking at the mess before him, Casper's breathing became rapid.
All the meat that had been hung up to dry, whether in the canopy or on the branches, disappeared completely.
In addition, the bag that he had hidden in the tree branch was opened, and the diary and map inside were carelessly discarded on the soil.
The loss of several days' worth of hard work infuriated Casper.
Beneath him, Simba the wolf cub let out a low growl from his throat.
When their dwelling is invaded and their stored food is stolen, any animal with a sense of territory will be enraged.
Kasper dismounted from Simba and slithered around the area near his slender snake body.
His gaze swept over the messy footprints on the ground, while he flicked his tongue, collecting the pheromones remaining in the air that belonged to the intruder.
It is a human being.
But not the villagers in the village.
Villagers, considering safety factors, only pick berries and graze cattle on the outskirts of the forest, and do not venture deeper into this area.
Only the cavalrymen who entered the village to loot it had the guts and the ability to come here.
There weren't many footprints, and judging from the number, there were only two people. The main group was either still in the village or had already left the area.
The absence of hoofprints proves that they arrived on foot.
This area is about 2 kilometers away from the village in a straight line. Considering that the mountain road is rugged and difficult to travel, it would take at least an hour to get here.
Why would cavalry go to such lengths and use such a strange method to get here?
None of that matters.
They stole my winter food supplies... ruined my books... and now they want to run away?!
Kasper sneered inwardly.
Think beautiful!
"Simba, can you smell them?"
"Can."
The little wolf's still-childish voice was laced with anger.
"They just left recently, and the wind isn't too strong. If we set off now, we can catch up."
"Simba will tear out the throats of these humans who dare to invade my Lord's land!"
"No need to rush."
Kasper used the snake's tail to lift the map and books, shook off the dirt, and put them back in his bag.
Through training, his snake tail has become very flexible, enabling him to accomplish many things that were previously impossible.
"Your loyalty is commendable, but I don't like what you said."
"I'm sorry, my Lord."
Simba didn't understand what Casper meant, but since its master disliked it, it must have said or done something wrong.
"Simba, you were raised by my own hands, and you are my first family member. I have high hopes for you."
"You shouldn't be content to be just my claws and fangs. You must find a pack of wolves, defeat their king, become the new wolf king, and then command them to serve me."
"Therefore, you must learn how to think like a leader."
Casper's voice was calm, as if he hadn't been the one who was just burning with anger.
Anger can drive a snake to madness, but after deciding to take revenge on the human who offended it, Kasper quickly calmed down.
He realized that this was a good opportunity to educate his family.
For a slightly venomous snake and a newly grown wolf cub to survive and thrive, they need clear thinking.
"Humans have armor, and your fangs cannot pierce steel. Humans have horses, and your speed cannot match that of a strong warhorse."
The weapons they forge can easily cut your fur and tear your internal organs apart.
In this situation, would you still want to confront them directly?
Simba was stunned by these words; his master's words had touched a nerve.
"I'm sorry, my Lord, I... I don't know."
"Use your wisdom, Simba."
Casper climbed back onto its back and whispered.
"I know this is a little difficult for you to understand, but that's okay. You just need to watch and learn from it."
"Chase after them and see what they're doing. Remember, try to make as little noise as possible."
"Understood, my Lord."
In the forest where the sunlight was gradually fading, the little wolf, carrying Casper on his head, followed the tracks left by Little Mustache and Scarface, eventually arriving at a riverbank.
