Everyone has awakened, but I am the only mortal!

Chapter 42 No Monsters Can't Get In

Old Zhou's mouth was wide open, but the words that were about to come out of his throat were swallowed back down.

Even with his sharp tongue, he knew that offending someone with special abilities in this strange realm was far from wise.

Huang Xiang had no interest in getting entangled with Lao Zhou. It was her first time entering this strange realm, and she was preoccupied with figuring out her situation and finding a way out.

Then he turned to Luo Zheng and asked, "Luo Zheng, you've been to the otherworld. Tell me how you got out? Did your body change after you came out?"

Not only her, but the five men who came with her were also full of curiosity, their eyes all falling on Luo Zheng.

They had never been to another realm before, and were filled with uncertainty and trepidation about everything here.

Luo Zheng didn't hide anything and simply told the whole story.

They recounted the entire process, from initially forming a team based on rumors of the otherworld, to encountering monsters along the way, to unexpectedly entering the otherworld and struggling to survive.

When everyone heard about the bizarre sights, deadly traps, and terrifying monsters in the otherworld, they all held their breath, their breathing slowed, and their faces were filled with horror.

After Luo Zheng finished speaking, he took the opportunity to introduce the people next to him to Huang Xiang and the other six: "This is Su Bai. We were able to get out of the otherworld last time thanks to him. The 'idiot' you just mentioned is Lao Zhou, and the one you suspect is a monster is Chen Hua. And this is Hei Zi."

The five men beside Huang Xiang were still in shock.

Only Huang Xiang had clearly already digested all of this.

She nodded slightly, her gaze returning to Chen Hua: "So, we are indeed in another realm now. Opening this realm requires a monster to trigger it, so among the people present, there must be one monster."

She paused, then looked at Luo Zheng: "When we were outside, I could clearly sense the evil aura emanating from him. You also said that Chen Hua came out of the other realm alone, so what makes you so sure he's not that monster?"

The topic has circled back to where it started.

Luo Zheng frowned slightly: "But we don't have any evidence to prove that he is the monster. The most important thing now is not to dwell on who the monster is, but to find clues about the otherworld and figure out a way to get out. Last time we entered the otherworld, we could clearly feel that there was a time limit. If we can't solve the problems in the otherworld in time, we will all be killed."

Huang Xiang was extremely dissatisfied with Luo Zheng's attitude of "shelving doubts" and was about to speak in rebuttal when Luo Zheng interrupted him first.

His gaze swept over Huang Xiang: "There's one more thing I must remind you of. In this strange realm, if you kill the wrong person, you'll be killed by the monsters in return. That's why I asked you to temporarily set aside your suspicions about Chen Hua. Are you willing to risk your life betting that he's definitely a monster?"

Huang Xiang's face froze instantly, a hint of struggle flashing in her eyes.

Everyone could see that she was a proud and arrogant person, and even if she realized that something might be wrong, she would never easily admit her mistake.

A moment later, she raised her chin high, but her forceful tone lacked some confidence: "Since you don't think so, then forget it. Let's just leave it to fate."

Luo Zheng didn't dwell on the matter any longer; finding a way out was the most important thing right now.

He addressed everyone, saying, "Everything in this room could be a clue to breaking the deadlock. Everyone split up and search carefully, don't miss any details."

Having experienced an alternate realm, Su Bai and the others spoke calmly to Luo Zheng as they rummaged through the room.

But Huang Xiang felt extremely uncomfortable.

At the observation post in the Western Regions, Huang Xiang, with her extraordinary ability to sense evil spirits and purify calamities, was always the center of attention. Wherever she went, she had absolute authority, and no one dared to point fingers at her.

Luo Zheng, on the other hand, was just an inconspicuous person among the crowd in the Western Regions, and she never paid any attention to him.

Now, she is being asked to follow Luo Zheng's arrangements, which is undoubtedly a torment for her.

Led by Luo Zheng, Su Bai and the others had already dispersed to carefully inspect every corner of the room.

Huang Xiang stood still, her gaze falling on the window, and noticed that the rain outside had stopped.

She didn't say anything more, turned around and walked towards the door. When she got to the door, she casually opened it.

A cool, damp breeze swept in instantly, dispelling the stuffiness in the room.

Su Bai and the others were closer to the door and felt the dampness in the wind, so they couldn't help but breathe a slight sigh of relief.

Since the end of the world, the air has been dry and humid, with dust flying everywhere. Weather like this, which is humid and refreshing after the rain, is really rare.

The wind carries the fresh scent of grass and the rich aroma of earth, a refreshing and invigorating scent that makes one lower their guard and gradually relax.

Huang Xiang stepped out the door first, stood at the entrance, and looked into the distance.

In the distance are rolling mountains and dense forests, and in front of you is a lush green meadow dotted with colorful wildflowers. Not far away, you can hear the babbling of a stream, and you can vaguely see a small river meandering along.

Such natural scenery would be considered a rare beauty even before the apocalypse, let alone after it.

In the Western Regions, only cold cement houses confined them like prisons. Although they provided shelter from the wind and rain, safety, and enough food, such days were ultimately oppressive and suffocating.

They even thought they would never see such a refreshing and vibrant natural scene again in their lives.

The two men standing behind Huang Xiang could no longer contain their excitement and rushed past Huang Xiang.

The two stood on the grass, gesturing wildly and spinning around, their faces filled with long-lost joy, repeatedly exclaiming, "This is wonderful! There's actually a place like this!"

But this joy lasted only a moment.

One of the men suddenly stopped, his smile freezing instantly. He looked down in confusion and was shocked to find that his legs were slowly sinking into the ground, the soil seemingly living things, gradually engulfing his body.

The color drained from his face instantly, replaced by utter panic. He flailed his arms frantically, crying out, "Help! Help me! Help me!"

Unfortunately, everything happened too fast, so fast that no one had time to react.

Huang Xiang and the people around her could only watch helplessly as the man was completely swallowed up by the ground in the blink of an eye, leaving not a trace, as if he had never existed.

The air froze instantly; the joy from moments before vanished, replaced by a terrifying atmosphere that enveloped everyone present.

This bizarre and terrifying scene instantly frightened the few people around Huang Xiang who had just entered the strange realm, leaving them frozen in place, their faces deathly pale.

Huang Xiang, on the other hand, seemed quite calm.

The other man who had rushed out earlier was terrified after regaining his senses. He scrambled back into the house, bumping into Huang Xiang who was standing at the door. She instinctively grabbed the door frame to steady herself, and the panic in her eyes could no longer be concealed.
