The sage Zhunti replied, "The Buddha Tathagata has been reincarnating for countless eons, and said that one must accumulate thirty million merits before one can become a Buddha."

Thirty million merits—this Buddha is truly thoughtful.

But what kind of merit is it? Is it to enlighten sentient beings? Or to compassionately save people? Or perhaps to sacrifice oneself for benevolence?

"The Buddha cares for all sentient beings and is compassionate and benevolent. Sages should worship Him as the master of Buddhism in the Western Paradise," Luo Zuye replied.

The Sage Zhunti did not answer.

But at this moment, silence speaks louder than words; the silence itself is the response of the sage Zhunti.

He also wanted to elevate the Tathagata Buddha to the position of the Buddha Lord of the Western Paradise, but there are many Buddhas in the Buddhist community now, including the World-Free King Buddha, the Medicine King Buddha, and Amitabha Buddha (Infinite Light King Buddha), as well as many other Buddhas, big and small. Although the Tathagata Buddha was appointed by two saints, his foundation was not stable, and the other Buddhas did not submit to his rule. Therefore, the position of the Buddha Lord was just an empty title.

Therefore, these two probably have other plans now. When the Buddha has accumulated thirty million merits, they will make proper arrangements for him.

In addition, in the Western Buddhist community today, the position of Buddha has been rotated among several ancient Buddhas.

"Does the sage want me to become a Buddha of the past?" Luo Zu asked.

The Sage Zhunti replied, "There is actually not much difference between the past, present, and future. Becoming a Buddha in this life is the most important thing. Past Buddhas and present Buddhas are the same."

That's something you can't fool a three-year-old with.

How can the Buddha of today compare to the Buddhas of the past?
