Ground football: Ronaldo thought I was going to assist him

Finally, Lokeren actually had a few brilliant shots in this match.

Manchester City's all-out attack resulted in giving the opponent at least three excellent counter-attack opportunities, two of which were one-on-one chances.

But Neuer made two brilliant saves and a clearance inside the penalty area, keeping the goal intact.

Their performance can be described as quite excellent.

The game is over.

Manchester City, having rested and recuperated, are now facing one of their true rivals in the league... Liverpool.

The Premier League has now completed eight rounds.

Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester City are the top three teams in the Premier League with six wins and two draws, accumulating 20 points each.

Manchester United have six wins, one draw and one loss, and are in fourth place with nineteen points.

Following closely behind is Liverpool, with four wins, three draws, and one loss, accumulating fifteen points.

Fulham scored 14 points, Southampton and Birmingham 12 points, and Charlton and Portsmouth 11 points.

Considering the schedule, Newcastle United and Aston Villa might be the only truly good teams this season.

Many of the aforementioned teams have already played against Manchester City.

As a result, Manchester City won quite easily most of their matches.

If Manchester City can beat Liverpool in the next round, they will have a very high chance of qualifying for the Champions League this season.

This match was played at Liverpool's home ground, Anfield.

Both sides are taking this match very seriously.

Manchester City is generally considered to have the advantage.

Liverpool's previous opponent was Arsenal, a tough match. Liverpool ultimately lost 1-2.

Manchester City, on the other hand, took advantage of their rest and waited for the enemy to tire themselves out, which was very unfair.

In addition, there are several other highlights in this match.

How does Gerrard, the newly crowned best midfielder in the Premier League, perform against Duncan?

Will my foot still slip?

How will Robbie Fowler, the genius assassin, perform against his former master?

Can the combination of Michael Owen and English stalwart Heskey be even more lethal than Adriano and Ribery?

Can Johan Riise, the Norwegian drill drill who previously disgraced Liverpool, rise to prominence again in this match?

It is said that Riese has not been entertained by any English streetwalkers in the past six months.

Even spending money won't work.

Because his reputation has been completely ruined.

Everyone knows he's a ruthless piling machine; there's no pleasure in making money off him.

Therefore, Risser had to pay ten times the price to stand out.

Anfield was packed to capacity for the match.

Manchester City's expeditionary force consisted of only a small group of people.

But at least there is.

Last season, Manchester City were undoubtedly the kings of home ground.

But they have very few fans when playing away from home.

Perhaps one day, Manchester City will have fans all over the world.

In this match, Thiago Silva replaced Desailly for Manchester City, earning a starting opportunity at center-back and partnering with Chiellini.

This center-back pairing is not tall and lacks physicality.

However, its strength lies in its mobility and agility.

Because their opponents were the fast and agile duo of Robbie Fowler and Kyrie Irving.

Four or five years ago, it was this same England forward line that struck fear into the hearts of defenses around the world.

Heskey, on the other hand, sat on the bench and became the team's second choice.

As the players lined up in the tunnel to enter the field, Duncan hugged Robbie Fowler.

Although Fowler only stayed at Manchester City for a year, he had a very good impression of the city because it was where he rediscovered his talent.

Deng Kai also shook hands with Gerrard and exchanged pleasantries with Kirkup.

We're all friends.

With the referee's whistle, the match officially began.

Liverpool were clearly more proactive.

Because this is their home ground.

Gerrard was also very active.

Compared to the Liverpool team we faced in the UEFA Cup a year and a half ago, this Liverpool team hasn't changed much.

While some veteran players have declined or left, some promising young players have stepped up to fill the gaps.

However, Gerrard's growth is undeniable.

He has become the ceiling for Liverpool.

Unfortunately, Liverpool fans will gradually realize this in the future.

Gerrard is not their ceiling, but their floor.

Because the midfield can only determine the lower limit.

The backcourt is the team's bottom line.

Forwards, however, represent the ceiling of a team's potential.

Eighth minute.

Gerrard, under pressure from Smick, successfully reached the byline and delivered a cross.

Robbie Fowler made a brilliant run, shaking off Chiellini and getting ahead of Thiago Silva to head the ball into the net!

Anfield, boiling red!

"Goal! Robbie Fowler turns on his former team! Giving his old employer a harsh lesson!"

"There's nothing we can do. Robbie Fowler is too familiar with Manchester City's defensive system. Chiellini and Thiago Silva couldn't stop him in training matches, and they still can't now."

"Robbie Fowler was one of the players who adapted best to Manchester City's tactics last season."

"This is Fowler's seventh goal. His goal tally still places him in the second tier, just behind Henry and Adriano."

"Including Duncan, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Van Nistelrooy, they are all in this group."

Fifteenth minute.

Robbie Fowler once again made a brilliant run into the penalty area and drew a foul from Chiellini.

Yellow dot meal!

Irving then converted the penalty.

Two to zero!

Liverpool took an early lead.

The fans at the stadium kept chanting Robbie Fowler's name.

Fowler's return to Liverpool is as beautiful as a fairy tale!

Deng Kai immediately approached Baggio, Adriano, Ribery, and others to speak.

"Attack through the middle, gather in the middle as much as possible, and try to shoot more." Deng Kai didn't look down on Liverpool's goalkeeper Dudek; he was a good goalkeeper.

However, Liverpool's formation is 4-4-2, and if players go down the flanks, they have to withstand four layers of defense from wingers, full-backs, midfielders, and even center-backs.

If you go through the middle, you'll be facing two midfielders and two center-backs—four people in total.

However, the benefits of playing in the middle are obviously higher than those on the sides.

The central area is always the most dangerous zone in the world of football.

Twenty-third minute.

Deng Kai passed the ball across to Toure, then made a forward run himself.

Liverpool had players at the time to contain Duncan.

Toure split up to find Ribery on the flank, then moved forward himself.

Liverpool's midfield defense is suddenly short-handed.

Where does the logic in having two midfielders pushing forward?

Aren't you afraid of being attacked and retaliated against?

Ribery passes the ball forward.

Touré, making a forward run, ran outwards, received the ball, and chipped it into the far post of the penalty area.

Baggio also shook off Kirop and headed the ball into the penalty area.

Kirop and Hyypia's attention was mainly on Adriano, neglecting Baggio.

boom!

Dudek made a high-level save, denying Baggio's header.

I like playing football on the ground: Ronaldo thought I was going to assist him.
