Witch Training Manual: My Water Magic Is Wrong
Chapter 164 Future Plans
A thousand-year-old purple sun.
Wien had seen it in the scriptures.
That was the anniversary of the Abyss's demise. On that day, all creation of the Abyss would experience a day of madness. Not a metaphor, not an exaggeration, but literal madness; demons would lose their minds, monsters would go berserk, and even the ancient beings that usually slumbered in the depths of the Abyss would awaken.
As for the abyss, that is not an alternate dimension.
The abyss is the lower space of the continent.
The scriptures clearly state: the continent is like a mille-feuille cake; the surface is the first layer, the underground is the second, and below that, the third. The abyss is not elsewhere, but right beneath your feet, only it is so deep that a normal person would never encounter it in their entire life.
Frost Town is located in a special place with a thin crust and close to the abyss, making it prone to demonic tides. While others might only encounter a demonic tide once every few years, Frost Town experiences it several times a year.
The main entrance to the Abyss is on the island of Abyss.
It was a legendary island, and no one had ever discovered where it was. Some had searched for it in the icy sea at the northernmost tip of the continent, some in the stormy ocean at the southernmost tip, and some had even dived to the bottom of the sea to look for it.
We found nothing.
The island of Abyss is as if it doesn't exist.
But it exists.
It is clearly recorded in the scriptures.
The first pope sealed the seven gates of the abyss on the island of the Abyss, forging seven keys with his own life, and entrusting each of them to seven of his most faithful followers. The descendants of those seven followers are the founders of the seven major papal courts we know today.
The church in the Kingdom of Wiggins was one of them.
Wayne looked at the words on the panel.
Half a year.
There are still six months left.
The milk in the glass has gone cold.
Wayne stopped drinking and put the glass back on the table. Ella was still standing by the table, her hand resting on the edge.
"Master, is the Thousand-Year Purple Sun dangerous?"
"Um."
"More dangerous than a demonic tide?"
Wayne thought for a moment.
"The Demonic Tide is a storm, and the Millennium Purple Sun is a tsunami."
Emma, who was standing next to her, didn't know what a tsunami was, but judging from her tone, it must be much more powerful than a storm.
"Is there anything we can do?"
"have."
Emma's eyes lit up.
"What method?"
Wayne leaned back in his chair.
"Leave Frosttown."
Ella paused for a moment.
Emma stood up from the bedside, rushed to Wayne, and looked up at him.
"Master, why are you leaving?"
"Frost Town is located at the boundary between the shallow and deep layers of the abyss. When the Millennial Purple Sun arrives, the space here becomes extremely unstable, and the aura of the abyss surges up from the ground. Ordinary people cannot withstand it, and witches even less so."
"What about the others?"
"The kingdom will issue a decree that all towns located in the border area will be relocated. It's not just Frosttown, but all the towns, villages, and cities along this entire line. So everyone else will leave as well."
Emma's eyes widened in surprise.
This was the first time she had ever heard of such a claim.
She knew nothing of the boundary between the abyss and the stability of space. But when her master said he would leave, that meant he would leave. Her master's decision was never wrong.
"Where do we go then?"
"To the capital."
"The royal capital?"
"Yes. The capital of the Kingdom of Wiggins is the safest place. During the Millennium Purple Sun, the seven major churches will join forces to maintain a barrier, and only the area within the barrier of the royal capital will be safe."
Emma nodded, then looked up at Wayne.
"Master, when are we leaving?"
"No rush. There are still six months."
"Six months?"
"Hmm. Half a year."
Emma felt relieved. Six months sounded like a long time, long enough for her to touch every single brick in the church.
Wayne ruffled her hair.
"Alright, go back to sleep now."
Emma stood still.
She kept her head down, her hands gripping the hem of her pajamas, clenching and unclenching repeatedly. Finally, she looked up at Wayne.
There was one more thing she didn't say.
"Um... Master..."
"Um?"
"Can we sleep here tonight?"
Wayne looked at her.
"Go to sleep if you want."
Emma's smile stretched from ear to ear.
She pulled Ella around and ran back to her room, grabbed the blankets, spread them out on the floor next to Wayne's bed, fluffed up the pillows, and smoothed out the blankets.
The two sisters lay obediently on the bed.
Wayne looked at Ella.
"You should get some rest too. You don't need to get up too early tomorrow. Not getting enough sleep is bad for your health."
Ella blushed, the color spreading from her neck to her ears. She lowered her eyes, her voice so low it sounded like it was being squeezed from her throat.
"it is good."
The panel popped up.
[Ella - Current Status]
[Status: The master told her she didn't need to get up too early tomorrow. The master knows that if she sleeps here, she won't sleep well tonight. The master knows what she's thinking and what she'll do. The master understands everything. She just doesn't say it.]
[Note: She felt very lucky. Not every slave gets to meet a master who knows everything but says nothing. Most people either genuinely don't understand or pretend not to. Wayne belonged to the third type. He understood, he didn't say it, but he let you know he understood.]
[Note 2: She silently decided to take a day off tomorrow.]
Ella walked to the quilt that Emma had laid out, squatted down, folded one corner of the quilt, smoothed it out, and moved the pillows around.
"Sister, do you sleep inside or outside?"
"Outside." Emma was already lying down.
"Then I'll sleep inside."
"it is good."
Emma's voice was soft in the darkness.
"Master, are we really going to move Frosttown?"
"Um."
"Is the church going to be moved too?"
"The church can't be moved."
"Will we come back in the future?"
Wayne remained silent for two breaths.
"I'm not coming back."
Emma didn't ask any more questions.
the next day.
Wayne woke up before dawn.
It wasn't because someone was making noise; it was because he was used to waking up at this time. Ella and Emma were still asleep on the floor beside the bed. Emma's blanket was kicked to one side, one leg sticking out, her toes curled. Ella slept inside, the blanket pulled up tightly, only a small section of her pale pink hair showing.
Without waking them, Wayne quietly got out of bed, grabbed a change of clothes, and went out the door.
The hallway was quiet, the wall lamps were still on, their flames flickering in the morning breeze. Vera hadn't gotten up yet, and there was no sound from the kitchen. By the well in the backyard, the wooden bucket was full of water, drawn by Thomason the previous evening and left to dry on the well rim overnight.
Wayne carried the wooden bucket into the bathroom.
Wayne carried the wooden bucket into the bathroom.
The bathroom was a small hut in the corner of the church's backyard, originally used for storing odds and ends. After Wayne arrived, Vera, along with Ella and Emma, spent three days cleaning it up, removing the clutter, repainting the walls, paving the floor with flagstones, and building a bathtub in the corner. The bathtub wasn't big; it was just right for one person to soak in, and two people could squeeze in to sit down.
The water temperature is just right.
Steam rose from the water's surface and dissipated in the morning light.
Wayne took off his clothes, stepped into the bath, and sat down. The water reached his chest, and the warmth seeped into his bones from his skin.
He closed his eyes.
The sound of water was especially clear in the quiet morning.
Splash!
He didn't do it.
The sound came from the direction of the door.
Wayne opened his eyes.
The bathroom door opened.
It wasn't blown open by the wind—the latch was still in place, firmly secured. But the door did open, from the inside out, as if an unseen hand had pushed it open.
Wayne looked at the door.
Outside the door frame was a corridor, and there was no one in the corridor.
There was a faint mist in the air, barely noticeable unless you looked closely, like the morning fog seeping in through the cracks in the door and spreading along the ground.
Who is it?
