Witch Training Manual: My Water Magic Is Wrong

Chapter 173 The Unsophisticated Lin Qi

At breakfast time, Vera came out of the kitchen carrying a pot of porridge, placed the pot on the table, and wiped her hands with her apron.

"Sir, those two ladies from yesterday left as soon as the church doors opened this morning."

Wayne scooped up a spoonful of porridge.

"it is good."

Emma sat opposite her, a piece of bread in her mouth, her cheeks bulging. She chewed it twice, swallowed it, and looked up.

"Master, didn't your cousin come to seek refuge with you? Why did she leave?"

Wayne picked up the bowl of porridge and blew on it.

"Maybe something's wrong with her."

Emma tilted her head and thought for a moment, seemingly accepting the explanation, before lowering her head to continue eating her bread.

Wayne turned his head to look at Mimi, who was sitting on the other side of the table.

Mimi was wearing a new maid outfit today, her hair tied in a low ponytail, revealing her clean neck. She was sipping her porridge when she heard Wayne's voice and looked up.

"Why haven't I seen Babacar and Jenny today?"

Mimi put down the bowl.

"I don't know. I saw them ten minutes ago, washing their faces by the well in the backyard. I greeted them when I passed by, but they ignored me."

She paused for a moment, her brows furrowing slightly.

"The two men were squatting on the edge of the well, heads touching, whispering something to each other. I went closer to listen, but they stopped talking. They were being very secretive and wouldn't say a word to me."

Mimi frowned slightly.

"Sir, are they possessed by some evil spirit?"

Wayne continued drinking his porridge without stopping.

"Maybe."

He lowered his head and continued drinking his porridge. After two sips, he put down the bowl. Suddenly, the door was kicked open from the outside.

The person who came was Babacar.

He rushed in with a loud thud, the door slamming against the wall with a loud crash. Jenny followed behind, both of them looking unwell; their faces were red, but not from the sun, but a red that shone through from beneath their skin.

Babaka rushed up to Wayne, bracing himself on the edge of the table, panting heavily. His throat bobbed twice, and the first words he uttered stunned everyone at the table.

"Bibliman... what's wrong with them...?"

The sound is shrill.

Babaka was startled by his own voice, and he quickly covered his mouth with his hand, his eyes wide open like saucers.

Jenny followed behind, opening his mouth as if to speak.

"Your Excellency, Bishop...we..."

Its voice was also shrill, just like Babaka's.

There was a moment of silence on the table.

Mimi's porridge bowl wobbled, spilling a few drops of soup that burned the back of her hand without her even reacting. Her gaze shifted from Babacar's face to Jenny's, then from Jenny's face to Wayne's.

"Sir, what are they doing...?"

Wayne put down the bowl of porridge and wiped his mouth with a towel.

"We forgot to give them the antidote."

Mimi stood there, stunned.

"Wh...what antidote?"

Wayne pulled two porcelain bottles from his sleeve, exactly the same as the previous two, with emerald green bodies and wax-sealed mouths. He placed the bottles on the table and pushed them in front of Babacar and Jenny.

"The cure for gender reassignment."

Mimi stood to the side, her mind reeling. She looked at Wayne's profile, then at the two porcelain vases, then at Babacar and Jenny.

What kind of tastes does Lord Wayne have?!

Does that mean Babacar and Jenny are in trouble?!

Her leg unconsciously shifted back half an inch, not out of fear, but as a subconscious action. Countless thoughts raced through her mind, each one more absurd than the last.

She didn't dare to think any further.

Wayne didn't look at her.

He pushed the porcelain vase forward.

"One bottle for each person, you'll recover after drinking it."

Babaka reached for the porcelain bottle, his hands trembling. He nearly dropped the bottle when he uncorked it, then tilted his head back and gulped it down.

Jenny took it and drank it even faster than Babacar. After finishing, he turned the bottle upside down to drain it completely, leaving not a single drop.

Wayne leaned back in his chair and watched them.

"How are you feeling?"

Babaka touched his throat.

"His voice... his voice is still high-pitched."

"The medicine won't work that quickly. It'll be fine in a little while."

Babaka breathed a sigh of relief, then halfway through, he pulled back up. He glanced down at his chest—flat. Then he glanced down at his crotch—still there.

He breathed a sigh of relief.

Jenny peeked out from behind Babacar.

"Your Excellency, is this antidote... only effective in this way? Will there be any other side effects?"

Wayne glanced at him.

What kind of aftereffects do you want?

Jenny quickly shook his head.

"I don't want it, I don't want it. I was just asking."

Wayne picked up his spoon and continued drinking his porridge.

Just then, the panel popped up.

It's not Babacar or Jenny.

It's the Pope.

[Kingdom of Wiggins - Pope - Latest Developments]

[Wanted: All seven members of the Seventh Holy Knights, led by Lancelot, are suspected of colluding with demons, betraying the Church, and blaspheming the Holy Light. They are hereby wanted nationwide, effective immediately. Dead or alive, no reward will be given. A reward of 500 gold coins will be given for information leading to their arrest; a reward of 1,000 gold coins will be given for each member captured alive.]

[The real reason: Lancelot and the others were sent by the Pope to capture you. Now they haven't been brought back, and instead, they've been kidnapped by the devil. The Pope is losing face and needs an explanation. The charge of "colluding with the devil" is very useful; it can explain why they went missing and also absolve them of responsibility. Whether they actually colluded with the devil or not is unimportant. What's important is that the Papacy cannot lose.]

[Note: The Pope still can't forget you. Ever since he saw the portrait your father sent, he hasn't been able to forget you. The sixty-seven-year-old man has seen countless young and handsome clergy, but he's never seen anyone like you. He can't quite put his finger on what's so special about you, he just can't forget you. But he dares not show it. Although the Church of Wiggins wields great power, the Queen is watching his every move. He dares not give himself away.]

[Note 2: Your cheapskate father, Marquis Lynch, was "invited" into the Vatican by a missionary sent by the Pope half a month ago. The missionary brought a letter of inquiry from the Vatican, "about you." Marquis Lynch went in impeccably dressed, but came out disheveled. As for what happened inside, neither he nor the missionary said. But after Lynch left, two vases were smashed in the Pope's bedroom. It is said that the Pope's original words were: "I wanted to embarrass that old man, but I didn't expect him to turn the tables on me."]

[Note 3: The Pope was so angry afterward that he didn't eat for three days. He wasn't immune to taking advantage of others, but he had never suffered such a great loss. As Marquis Lynch left, he even patted himself on the shoulder, nearly causing the Pope to faint on the spot. From that moment on, the two were completely estranged. Marquis Lynch never set foot in the Papacy again.]

Wayne paused for several breaths on the last few notes.

He looked at it again to make sure he hadn't misread it.

Marquis Lynch, his adoptive father, that bastard who offered his own son as a gift to curry favor with the Pope, actually got involved with the Pope.

And surprisingly, it was Lin Qi who benefited?

When he had given himself away as a gift, Wayne had assumed he was merely a sycophantic minor nobleman. He never expected Marquis Lynch to have such audacity, daring to "turn the tables" before the Pope. What did this signify? It meant his adoptive father's abilities far exceeded his expectations.

This kind of people.

It's far more complicated than it appears on the surface.

Wayne shook his head and put the panel away.
