Witch Training Manual: My Water Magic Is Wrong
Chapter 178 Fourth-Order Witch
Ella looked at Lillian's profile.
This third-order witch.
They have far more practical experience than they do.
Wayne stood at the very front.
He didn't use magic.
An earth dragon emerged from the ground.
It wasn't very big, about ten feet long, and its body was covered in brown scales. It had a single horn on its head. It opened its mouth, revealing a row of jagged, sharp teeth, and lunged at Wayne's leg.
Wayne raised his leg and kicked.
The instep struck the earth dragon's jaw with a dull thud.
The earth dragon's body flew out and crashed into a tree, causing the trunk to shake violently and leaves to fall to the ground. It slid off the trunk, rolled over, shook its head, and was still not quite aware of what had happened.
Wayne swooped down and punched it on the head.
The earth dragon's body twitched twice and then stopped moving.
Emma's lips twitched.
"Master...you're so violent."
Lillian turned and glanced at Wayne.
"Don't you think...it's handsome?"
Emma thought about it.
"Too."
The group continued deeper into the forest.
The number of monsters is increasing.
Wayne's approach was as simple as ever.
One comes, one hammer.
Bring two, and hammer a pair.
His fists slammed into the monster's head, each punch perfectly timed and deliberate.
Not long after.
The forest came to an end.
The view suddenly opened up.
The mine entrance is exposed at the bottom of a cliff, like a gaping mouth, pitch black and bottomless. The entrance is about two zhang high and three zhang wide, with jagged edges, a result of both human mining and natural collapse.
The stone walls at the cave entrance were covered with moss, and the air was filled with a damp, musty smell, mixed with the metallic scent of minerals.
Scattered on the ground were several rusty tools: a pickaxe, a shovel, and an overturned wooden barrel. The barrel was half rotten, the iron hoops had come off the barrel, and it was covered in rust; it lay on the ground like a pile of scrap metal.
Wayne stood at the entrance of the cave and glanced inside.
You can't see anything in the dark.
The panel popped up.
Wayne stood at the entrance of the cave.
The pitch-black mine shaft was like an open mouth, waiting for its prey to walk in.
The panel silently appeared in the darkness.
[Mine Caverns - Deep Information]
Deep within the mine lies a nearly mature "Frostmoon Grass," a fifth-tier medicinal herb with remarkable effects on the advancement of ice-type witches. This is precisely why treants, earth dragons, and sand lizards have gathered here. Monsters possess a far greater sensitivity to rare and precious materials than humans; they have detected the scent of Frostmoon Grass and have come from all directions, waiting for it to mature.
Deeper within the mine dwells a fourth-tier witch, Martha. She is the witch who impregnated Leon, a devotee of demons, whose life's creed is to trace their footsteps. Months ago, she followed a wisp of abyssal energy to this place, discovering a faint connection between the depths of the mine and the shallower layers of the abyss, and thus made it her base, settling down here.
[Marsara's Past: Born in a small town on the Northern Continent. At fifteen, she awakened her witchcraft talents, but was discovered by the townspeople and driven out of town. During her wanderings, she encountered a wandering wizard who taught her curses and dark magic. She spent three years mastering the skills of a wizard, and then killed him. Not because he was a bad teacher, but because she didn't want to owe anyone anything.]
[Advanced Method: Sacrifice of kin's blood. She killed her three children, exchanging their lives for power.]
[Note: She's now eyeing Ella.]
[Note 2: This is a perfect body.]
Lillian stared at Wayne's stunned profile.
"Mr. Wayne, shall we go in?"
Wayne turned his gaze away from the darkness of the cave entrance.
"No need. The mine has a complicated terrain. It's just a mindless rock demon; we can lure it out."
Lillian thought for a moment and nodded.
"How do we induce it?"
Wayne did not answer.
He took a porcelain bottle from his waist.
The bottle is transparent, and the liquid inside is an abnormal bright red, like diluted blood, gleaming eerily in the sunlight.
Lillian's gaze fell on the bottle of potion.
"What is this?"
"Provocation potion"
"provocative?"
"Hmm." Wayne uncorked the bottle. "Rock Demons have an extremely strong sense of territory. As long as it feels that someone has invaded its territory, it will come out on its own."
He turned the bottle upside down, and bright red liquid flowed from the opening, dripping onto the ground and seeping into the soil. The liquid spread rapidly, seeping into an area of about half a meter in diameter in the blink of an eye.
A pungent odor filled the air.
It wasn't a foul smell, but a strange, unsettling odor that sent chills down your spine. You couldn't quite put your finger on it, but the moment you smelled it, your body would automatically feel uncomfortable, as if something was warning you: get out of here.
Lillian covered her nose.
"What does this taste like?"
"The urine of the Abyss Scorpion, diluted."
Lillian's expression changed.
"You...you took this and dumped it on the ground?"
"It works very well."
"What do you mean it works well! This smells awful!"
Wayne ignored her, put the porcelain bottle away, took a few steps back, and stood about three zhang away from the cave entrance.
Emma and Ella followed and stepped behind him.
Lillian covered her nose and retreated to the back.
The four people stood in a row outside the cave entrance.
Time moved so slowly it felt like something was holding it back.
Take a breath.
Two breaths.
Three breaths.
A muffled sound came from the darkness of the cave entrance.
thump.
thump.
thump.
The sound wasn't loud, but it was deep, like something heavy was hitting the ground. It came from deep within the cave, amplified through the layers of the mine, and finally surged out of the cave entrance, making the ground tremble slightly.
Emma's fingers gripped Wayne's sleeve tightly.
"Master, Master..."
"I'm not afraid."
The sound was getting closer.
The ground tremors became increasingly noticeable.
Gravel began to fall from the edge of the cave entrance, crashing to the ground with a clatter and kicking up a cloud of dust. The dust billowed out of the cave entrance, like a layer of gray mist, slowly spreading in the sunlight.
A colossal creature emerged from the cave entrance.
It was even larger than Old Rut had described.
It was three zhang tall, almost reaching the height of the mine entrance when standing. Its body was made of rock and soil, with rough surfaces embedded with large and small ores that shimmered with a grayish-black light in the sunlight. It had no neck; its head grew directly from its torso. Its limbs were as thick as four stone pillars, and with each step it took, the ground trembled.
Emma's mouth opened.
"One, a room?"
Old Rut was being modest.
This thing is taller than two houses stacked on top of each other.
The Rock Demon's gaze swept over the five people outside the cave.
Finally, it fell on Wayne.
It smelled the scent of the provocation potion, emanating from this person. It lowered its head, its yellowish-brown pupils shrinking to slits.
It took a step forward.
The ground trembled.
Emma took two steps back.
Ella's face paled slightly, but she didn't move her feet.
Lillian didn't back out.
She took a step forward and stood next to Wayne, crossing her arms in front of her with her palms facing each other.
"Spirit of the earth, heed the call."
Her fingers traced several runes in the air, which flashed briefly before disappearing into the ground.
The ground in front of the mine shaft cracked open.
It didn't crack naturally; something pushed upwards from underground. The soil arched up, and stones burst out of the crack, piling up on the ground to form a small hill.
The hill continues to rise.
getting bigger.
taller and taller.
A stone statue rose from the cracked mound.
He's half a head taller than the Rock Demon.
Lillian stood behind the statue, her hands clasped together, her gaze resolute.
"Go, Cashuton."
