Witch Training Manual: My Water Magic Is Wrong
Chapter 195 Wayne with Confidence
The next day arrived.
Babaka was awakened by the pain.
It's not a headache, it's my butt that hurts.
He slowly opened his eyes.
The first thing I saw was Jenny's face.
The face was very close.
Babaka sprang from the bed, his back slamming against the cold wall, causing him to wince in pain. His gaze shifted downwards, and then his pupils contracted sharply—his clothes had been changed; they weren't the ones he'd worn yesterday.
"What are you doing?"
Jenny was woken up by his shout, rubbed his eyes and sat up in bed, his hair a mess.
"Boss, what are you yelling about so early in the morning?"
"I'm asking you!" Babaka gripped the sheets tightly, his face pale. "What did you do to me?!"
"I didn't do anything."
"Didn't do anything? Then who changed my clothes?!"
"Oh, that. You threw up all over yourself last night, and Sister Mimi asked me to change you. She also brought the clothes, saying they were old clothes she found in the church storeroom, so you can wear them for now."
"Mimi?"
"Yeah, who else could it be?" Jenny yawned again. "Boss, you don't think it's me, do you? I'm not interested in you."
Babaka ignored him.
The pain in my buttocks is real.
His lips trembled twice.
"Jenny."
"Um?"
"Did you drug me?"
Jenny's eyes widened.
"Drug you? Boss, are you crazy? What kind of drug would I give you?"
"Then why does my back hurt so much?"
"What does your back pain have to do with me? Did you press on something while you were sleeping?"
"What could possibly press down there?!" Babaka's voice rose eight octaves as he sprang from the bed, ignoring the pain, and rushed barefoot to Jenny, grabbing him by the collar. "Jenny! Aren't we brothers?"
Jenny was pulled back half a step.
"Yes...yes, we're brothers."
"If you're a brother, tell me the truth! What exactly happened yesterday? Why did I faint? Why did I have to change clothes? Why... why does my back hurt?"
Jenny opened his mouth, then closed it again.
He lowered his head and remained silent for a long while.
"Boss, you really don't remember?"
"Remember what?!"
"After you came out of Tsui Ying Street, you were a bit emotional. You were walking and bumped your head on the stone wall by the roadside. You hit your head and got a big bump, and you passed out right then and there." Jenny rubbed his fingers on the hem of his clothes. "I carried you back. I changed your clothes because you threw up all over yourself. Your back hurts..." His voice trailed off, "It's probably because you were in the wrong position when you hit the wall, that's why you fell."
"Boss, I'm telling the truth..."
"Bullshit!" Babaka shoved him backward, and Jenny stumbled two steps, bumping into the bedpost. "Where can you hit a wall? You try hitting one and see!"
Believe it or not!
next door.
Wayne sat against the wall in the courtyard.
The storage room wasn't well soundproofed, so Babaka and Jenny's conversation could be heard word for word.
He couldn't help but laugh after listening to the conversation between the two clowns.
The panel popped up.
[Babakka - Current Status]
[Status: On the verge of collapse. He doesn't believe Jenny, but he can't find any evidence to prove Jenny is lying. His memory ends at the entrance of Tsui Ying Street; everything after that is a blank. He's most likely lost his virginity.]
[Note: At this moment, Babacar is filled with unbearable grief and despair.]
[Note 2: He simply attributed it to his poor judgment of character.]
Just then, Hena came looking for her.
She stopped beside the rocking chair next to Wayne.
"Aren't you going to do anything about it?"
"What do you care?"
"Those people," Hena said, her gaze drifting towards the church entrance, "are from St. Hilde's, spreading their gospel all over town. I went to take a look this morning, and the blond guy leading them was standing at the bakery door, holding a book of scriptures and chanting with great enthusiasm."
Wayne glanced at Hena.
"and then?"
"And then they started preaching," Hena tapped her fingers on her knee twice, "saying that Frost Town was about to be destroyed, that after the Thousand-Year Purple Sun came, nothing would grow here, they made up all sorts of wonderful stories."
Hena tilted her head to look at him.
"Aren't you worried at all?"
Wayne remained unmoved.
"Don't worry."
Hena turned her head and looked at his profile.
Why?
"Faith is never just a matter of shouting a few words." Wayne picked up his teacup, leaned back in his chair, and said, "No matter how prestigious the Church of St. Hilde may be, how well they recite their scriptures, or how beautiful their promises of tomorrow may be, the residents of Frosttown will not follow them."
How did you know?
"Because nobody's a fool."
Wayne's gaze drifted towards the outside of the church.
"They've lived here for generations, building their houses with their own hands, cultivating their land with their own hands, and enduring each day with their own hard work. You're asking them to leave their homes and go to a place they've never been before, to start all over again? On what grounds? On a few verses of scripture? On some empty promise?"
His tone was calm.
"The people of Frosttown don't believe in these things. Instead of saying all sorts of nonsense, it's more practical to give them two eggs."
Hena's unwavering determination.
"What if someone actually believes it?"
"Those are a minority." Wayne's tone remained unchanged. "There are all sorts of people in a hundred. Some believe this, some believe that, and some believe nothing. But as long as the vast majority of people don't believe, they can't cause any trouble."
He took another sip of tea.
"Moreover, their visit this time is far more than just missionary work."
Hena's hand paused for a moment.
"You mean... a witch?"
Wayne nodded.
"They went up the mountain last night."
The message was something Wayne saw on the panel last night.
Hena lowered her voice.
"Did you find it?"
"No. The cult hid in time; they searched the mountains for most of the night but didn't find a single hair."
"They won't just let this go, will they?"
"Of course not," Wayne said casually. "I don't know exactly what they're going to do, but we'll just have to wait and see!"
Wayne glanced at Hena.
"But you, a demon turned human, aren't you afraid the people of St. Hilde will figure it out?"
Hena confidently raised her chin.
"Even if their cardinal came, he wouldn't be able to tell anything from this body."
She stretched out her hand and looked at her palms over and over; her pink nails gleamed faintly in the sunlight.
"This body is exquisite inside and out. Unless I reveal it myself, no one will be able to tell."
Hena leaned forward.
"What? You don't believe me?"
"Believe." Wayne closed his eyes.
"Just a reminder, don't be careless."
"Okay, okay." Hena waved her hand and swung her legs. "You should worry about yourself. That person is obviously after you. He didn't find the witch last night, so he might cause you trouble."
Wayne wasn't in a hurry.
"This is the Kingdom of Wiggins, not St. Hilde. I won't stop Andre from preaching in Frosttown. But if he wants to mess with me, he'll have to ask the Wiggins Church if it's powerful enough."
Hena laughed out loud.
"You seem quite confident."
"It's not that we're confident, it's that we're reasonable." Wayne continued looking at his scripture. "Five hundred years ago, after the Witch's Rebellion, the seven major papal courts signed the 'Non-Aggression Pact.' Each papacy is responsible for its own affairs, and other papal courts are not allowed to interfere. St. Hilde's capture of the witch on Wiggins' territory was itself a violation of the agreement."
"What if they deny it?"
"Then let them honestly admit it."
