Witch Training Manual: My Water Magic Is Wrong
Chapter 215 Relocation Order
The three people walked north along the main street.
The morning mist had not yet dissipated, and their figures grew fainter and more blurred in the fog, eventually becoming a gray-white dot that disappeared at the end of the street.
Wayne stared in that direction and stood there for a long time.
Vera stood next to Wayne.
"Sure enough, the hardest part is saying goodbye after spending so much time together." Her voice was soft, tinged with a faint sense of melancholy. "Before Miss Mimi left, she washed all the dishes in the kitchen, wiped down the stove, and even filled the water tank. I told her it wasn't necessary, but she said it was fine, since she didn't have anything else to do before leaving."
She paused.
"She even folded her maid's uniform neatly and placed it on the bed in the room. It was folded so neatly that even the creases were smoothed out."
Ella stood to the side without saying a word.
Emma peeked out from behind her.
"Sister, will Sister Mimi come back?"
Ella thought for a moment.
"Yes."
Emma looked up.
How did you know?
"Because Master said that the goddess will protect the kind-hearted." Ella's tone was calm. "Sister Mimi is a kind-hearted person. Kind-hearted people, no matter how far they go, will eventually return to where they belong."
Wayne glanced at Ella unexpectedly.
I never expected her to say something so philosophical.
Ella's panel then appeared.
【Ella's Current Situation】
[Status: Calm with a hint of relief. She felt nothing about Mimi's departure. On the contrary, deep down she seemed to feel a faint happiness. She knew what had happened between you and Mimi these past two days, but she understood. She often heard the group of prostitutes who came to the church say that Bishop Wayne never belonged to anyone; he was a gift from the goddess Seurat, a gift from God to all. To monopolize a gift is greed. Greed invites divine punishment.]
[Note: Although she knows you don't belong to anyone, she knows deep down that she and her sister will always belong to you. This is a fact no one can change. They were brought back from the slave market by you; as long as you live, they will be with you. Even if you die, they will not leave. This is her resolve, a resolve that doesn't need to be spoken.]
[Note 2: It seems that women who stay by their master's side receive this treatment whenever they leave. Mayfair is like this, and so is Mimi. She felt a slight envy; she wondered if she should be more proactive. No need to wait for parting, no need to wait for any special moment, it's now, every day, every moment you can see her. She wants to give you everything she can, wants to give, and should give. Nothing left to hold back.]
Wayne reached out and ruffled her hair.
"Let's go back."
Ella's voice was muffled.
"it is good."
Emma jumped out from behind her, stretched her head forward, and squeezed right under Wayne's palm.
"Master, I'm here too!"
Wayne didn't pull his hand away; instead, he moved his palm from Ella's head to Emma's and rubbed it twice. Emma's mouth stretched to her ears, revealing two small fangs, and she jumped up, almost bumping into Wayne's chin.
"Master is the best!"
Vera stood behind, looking at the three people, a slight smile playing on her lips. Without saying a word, she turned and walked into the church first.
……
The third day after Mimi left.
There were more people at the church than usual.
It wasn't because of anything major; it was just that after what happened at St. Hilde, the townspeople's attitudes had changed somewhat. Some said that Bishop Wayne dared to touch even the people of St. Hilde, so following him was the right thing to do. Others said that the way the bishop stood before the bonfire reciting his crimes that night was more imposing than the Pope's. Still others said they didn't want anything in particular, they just wanted to come and see.
They came to pray.
But many beautiful women have other motives.
Meanwhile, news of the St. Hilde incident spread widely and dramatically around Frosttown. Some said Wayne single-handedly defeated a fourth-tier battle priest of St. Hilde, others said he summoned an avatar of a goddess to descend to earth, and still others said he was the reincarnation of a high-ranking angel.
Wayne neither confirmed nor denied this.
He continued his morning prayers, prepared his magic potions, and blessed his followers as usual, neither confirming nor denying the rumors.
He knew that some things didn't need explanation.
Believers will fill in the blanks with their own imaginations. And the versions they come up with are often more convincing than the truth.
Vera calls this "building a reputation." It's not something that happens in a day or two; it's built up one thing at a time. Whom you help, whom you save, whom you speak up for—people remember it, and they'll come to you when the opportunity arises.
That afternoon, Wayne was mixing potions in the backyard.
The stone table was covered with bottles and jars, transparent, brown, and emerald green, each shimmering with a different luster in the sunlight. He held a flask in his hand, a pale blue liquid churning inside. He watched the changes on the surface of the liquid, counting the bubbles.
The panel popped up at this point.
[Millennial Purple Sun - Wiggins Kingdom - Latest Developments]
King Antep III signed a relocation decree three days ago, officially launching the Millennium Purple Sun Response Plan. According to the decree, towns, villages, and mining areas located at the boundary of the abyss's shallow layer must be relocated in batches over the next five months to the capital, Antwerp, and surrounding protected cities.
The first batch of relocations includes Frosttown and seven surrounding villages and towns, with the relocation expected to officially begin next month. The Kingdom will send specialists to oversee the relocation organization, while the Church will be responsible for resettlement and logistical support.
[Note: On the day the relocation decree was signed, the Pope flew into a rage at an internal Vatican meeting. The reason was that the decree made no mention of the Vatican's authority. The Pope insisted that the relocation should be entirely the responsibility of the Church, with the King's people only in charge of transportation and supplies. The Queen did not attend that meeting, but the Pope knew that the relocation decree was her doing.]
[Note 2: The Queen was deeply dissatisfied with the expansion of the Wiggins Church in recent years. In her view, the Church had overstepped its bounds, interfering in everything from faith to civil affairs, from civil affairs to the judiciary, and from the judiciary to taxation. If this continued, the Kingdom of Wiggins would sooner or later become a second St. Hilde.]
[Note: The king himself had no objection to the contents of the relocation decree. He barely even looked at it, signed it, and then went to play with magic.]
Wien put the flask down.
He stared at the panel for several breaths.
It will be launched next month.
It was faster than he expected.
He had thought there were still two months left, but now it seemed the Queen was even more anxious than he was. The Millennium Purple Sun was one thing, but using the relocation as an opportunity to weaken the Church's power was another.
Killing two birds with one stone.
This queen is no ordinary woman.
Actually, you can understand it from another perspective. If she were a simple person, she wouldn't be able to tolerate what ordinary people can't.
After all, the king was a fool.
Who would want to marry a fool?
