Witch Training Manual: My Water Magic Is Wrong

Chapter 255 Marco's Departure

Wayne looked at Naya and gently shook his head.

"Madam, I am an agent of the gods. The path I walk is guided by the goddess. I will not stop anywhere."

Naya's eyelashes drooped, but in the end she only sighed softly: "...I know."

She said self-deprecatingly.

"I knew you weren't the kind of person who would be kept by a city or a woman. I could tell from the first day you came to Audrien."

She raised her eyes, her gaze filled with resentment.

"But... I just wanted to give it a try."

Wayne did not respond.

Then he changed the subject.

"However, if you wish to receive the goddess's blessings, I would not mind performing acts of mercy on her behalf."

Naya's eyes lit up.

"That's wonderful, sir!"

The panel popped up at that moment.

【Naya】

Status: Very happy.

[Note: This is exactly what she was waiting for. To be precise, she had planned all of this from the moment she heard you had returned to Audrien. She knew you would never stay; she was merely using this as a strategic retreat.]

[Note 2: She is pleased with her own intelligence, but doesn't want to show it too obviously, so she tries to keep her lips from turning down.]

[P.S.: She truly needs this blessing from the goddess.]

Soon, Wayne was pulled by Naya deeper into the room, having completely dropped all pretense.

She was very anxious.

I can't wait to feel the goddess's blessing.

Three hours later.

Wayne emerged from the back door of the Viscount's mansion.

The sky had darkened, and the streetlights cast a dim, yellowish glow. A slightly chilly evening breeze brushed against his face, making him feel a little more alert.

The old steward stood at the gate of the mansion, holding an oil lamp in his hand. When he saw him come out, he bowed slightly, asked no questions, and quietly led him to the roadside.

The carriage is ready.

Wayne closed his eyes and leaned against the carriage wall.

His lower back was a little sore.

He underestimated Naya.

To be precise, he underestimated the repression.

That would drive people crazy.

For three hours, he barely rested; it was his duty to help believers alleviate their sorrows on behalf of the gods. The first hour and a half was Naya giving thanks to the goddess, and the next hour and a half was Naya giving thanks on behalf of the deceased viscount.

He politely declined Naya's invitation to stay for dinner.

He feared that if he ate any more, he wouldn't be able to leave that house.

The carriage moved slowly through the night, its wheels making a rhythmic sound as they rolled over the stone pavement.

The panel popped up at this point.

[Viscountess Naya - Current Status]

[Status: Sleeping soundly, with a smile on her lips.]

[Note: She successfully expressed gratitude to the goddess on behalf of the Viscount, performing the act seven times in total.]

[Note 2: She released all the pent-up frustration, resentment, and dissatisfaction she had accumulated over the past six months, and now she feels completely relieved.]

[Note 3: She said she would come to church to confess again tomorrow.]

Wayne glanced at the panel and then looked away.

He recalled that before he left, Naya lay on the bed, barely breathing but with a determined look in her eyes, and told him something.

"Father Wayne... When my father was alive, he had some connections with several old nobles in the Bellino parish. They mentioned something in their letters..."

She took a breath.

"Your father, Marquis Lynch, has already sent someone to wait for you in Bellino. I don't know exactly who it is. But they said the person is already in Bellino and will come looking for you when you arrive."

Naya paused for a moment.

"Be careful yourself."

Wayne snapped out of his thoughts and looked out the car window.

Lynch sent men to wait for him in Bellino.

That's not surprising.

His adoptive father has never given up on bringing him back to the capital. From the initial "political gift" to the Pope, to hiring bounty hunters to capture him, and now sending people to Bellino. What is this old man planning this time?

The carriage stopped at the church entrance.

Wayne got out of the car, thanked the driver, and turned to walk into the church. As soon as he entered the porch, he saw a figure standing at the corner of the corridor.

Ella.

She was wearing a light-colored nightgown.

Hearing footsteps, she looked up.

"Master, you're back."

Wayne nodded.

"Still not asleep?"

"Um."

Ella responded and then walked over and stood in front of Wayne. She didn't ask where Wayne had gone or why he was so late; she simply reached out and straightened Wayne's collar.

Her movements were very natural.

"I've already given Emma a bath, and she's asleep."

She paused.

"I've boiled the water. Master...would you like to take a shower?"

"it is good."

Ella nodded and turned to walk deeper into the corridor.

Wayne followed behind her.

The panel popped up at this point.

[Ella - Current Status]

[Status: Calm.]

[Note: She smelled the fragrance on you. She knows you went to the Viscountess's and what you did there. She doesn't care.]

[Note 2: Because she knows you belong to her]

[Note: If this weren't the Church of Audrian, she would definitely offer to help you bathe. It's precisely because this is Audrian that she's decided to be more reserved.]

Meanwhile, on the other side...

Odrian's temporary camp.

Marco went to his daughter's grave alone again this afternoon. It was a quiet little hill outside the city, and he stayed there alone for a long time.

It was already dark when we got back.

In the camp, Aya was sitting by the campfire, holding a wooden sword and lost in thought. When she saw Marco appear, she stood up.

"Uncle."

Marco walked to the campfire and sat down opposite Aya. He took out a piece of dry rations from his pocket, broke it in half, and handed it to Aya.

Have you eaten?

"No need, I've already eaten, uncle."

Kaven emerged from the nearby tent, saw Marco return, and trotted over to him.

"Master, you're back."

Marco nodded.

A crackling sound came from the fire, and sparks flew upwards. He was silent for a while, then spoke.

"Aya, Calvin."

The two little ones raised their heads at the same time.

"I'm going to Bellino ahead of schedule."

Calvin's smile froze.

"Master... what did you say?" Kaven's voice was a little tense. "Didn't you say... we'd wait until Aya advanced before..."

"Now is the best time."

Marco continued.

"Cavan, tomorrow morning, take Aya to the church to see Lord Wayne. He will make arrangements for you. If things go well, I will come back to you. In the meantime, you two should learn skills from Lord Wayne and not embarrass me."

Calvin's eyes immediately reddened.

"Master, you'll be alright, right?"

Marco raised his hand and flicked him on the forehead.

"What are you thinking?" Marco's voice rose slightly. "Of course your master will be fine. With those secret weapons Lord Wayne gave me, how could anything happen to me?"

Calvin covered his forehead and sniffed.

"Really, Master? Lord Wayne really gave you a secret weapon?"

"That's natural."

Hearing what Marco said, Kaven breathed a sigh of relief.

Marco then stood up and dusted off his trousers. He pulled a worn leather pouch from his pocket, weighed it in his hand, and heard a metallic clinking sound inside; it contained the silver coins he had saved up for a long time.

He shoved the leather bag into Calvin's hand.

"Here you go. When you go to town tomorrow, buy Aya a nice pair of boots, and buy yourself a pair too. Keep the rest for the journey."

Calvin held the leather bag in his hand.

"master……"

"Men, stop dawdling."

"You really think your master is dead?"

"But Master..."

"Hey! You little rascal..."
