Witch Training Manual: My Water Magic Is Wrong
Chapter 263 Andy the Clown
By the time Wayne returned to the church, it was already dark.
He pushed open the door; the hallway was quiet. Ella's light was off, and there was no sound from Emma's side. He tiptoed down the hallway, opened his own door, turned on the light, and sat on the edge of his bed for a while.
I'm really tired today.
First, he spent the whole day in the confessional dealing with Princess Isabella and her elf, then he was called to the brothel to woo Wilford, and in the evening he was invited by Viscountess Naya to discuss theology.
Wayne took off his coat and lay down.
We still have to travel tomorrow.
He closed his eyes, preparing to fall asleep.
The panel popped up at this point.
[Viscountess Naya - Current Status]
Status: Grateful.
[Note: She thinks you feel better today than yesterday. She's considering whether to ask you to come over for one more bedtime prayer before you leave.]
[Note 2: She thought about it and decided against it. She was worried you wouldn't be energetic enough for your journey tomorrow.]
Wayne glanced at the panel.
He turned over, closed his eyes, and fell asleep.
The next morning, just as dawn was breaking.
The area in front of the Church of Audrian has become quite lively.
Three new carriages were parked on the stone path in front of the gate, and the drivers were checking the axles and reins. Thomason stood next to the first carriage, holding a list and checking the supplies item by item.
The young monks of the church were loading boxes onto the cart. There were sealed potions, several bags of food, and bottles and jars wrapped in cloth. Andy stood beside the cart, holding an account book, carefully recording the name of the donor for each box.
Wayne walked out of the church, wearing a clean and tidy priest's robe.
As soon as he appeared at the door, someone noticed him.
"Good morning, sir!"
"Father, you're up so early?"
"Sir, breakfast is ready and keeping it warm in the kitchen. Shall I bring it to you?"
Wayne waved his hand: "No need, I can go by myself."
He walked through the porch toward the kitchen. Halfway there, he ran into Ella coming out of the kitchen carrying a tray. On the tray were two slices of toast, a small bowl of chestnut porridge, and a cup of hot milk.
She saw Wayne, paused for a moment, then walked over to him naturally and handed him the tray.
"Master, your breakfast is ready."
Wayne took it: "And you?"
"I've already eaten."
After she finished speaking, seeing that Wayne didn't rush to speak, she added, "I've already woken Aya and Caven up; they're eating in the backyard."
Wayne nodded and sat down in the chair.
The bread was baked to perfection, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The chestnut porridge was thick and creamy, with a subtle sweetness. After finishing his breakfast, he placed the tray at the kitchen doorway and then walked towards the backyard.
In the backyard, Aya was standing in the open space, holding a wooden sword, her eyes closed, as if feeling the morning breeze. She heard footsteps, opened her eyes, saw Wayne approaching, and nodded slightly as a greeting.
"How did you sleep last night?"
Aya nodded happily:
"Great, Vera made us a new bed, and I also successfully achieved a breakthrough yesterday afternoon."
Wayne glanced at her; the aura within her body had undergone a new refinement, revealing the unmistakable presence of a first-tier apprentice.
Wayne praised.
"Well done, not bad."
Aya lowered her head shyly.
"Yes, thank you for the compliment, sir."
He turned and walked back to the churchyard.
The carriage is basically assembled.
Andy stood beside the first carriage, holding an account book in his hands. When he saw Wayne come out, he quickly went to greet him.
"My lord, the supplies have been inventoried. All three carriages are fully loaded. Two of them contain church donations and supplies, and your personal belongings have been placed separately in the third carriage."
He closed the ledger and added:
"By the way, sir, Uncle Thomason went to inform the camp outside the city before dawn. The convoy should be almost ready and can set off at any time."
Wayne's gaze fell into the distance, as if confirming something. Then he looked back at Andy: "You did a great job. You've worked hard these past few days."
Wayne's gaze fell into the distance, as if confirming something. Then he looked back at Andy: "You did a great job. You've worked hard these past few days."
Andy was a little embarrassed by the praise and scratched the back of his head: "It's no trouble at all. It's my honor to be able to help you, sir."
The panel popped up at this point.
[Andy's Current Psychological State]
[Status: When he went to the dungeon to deliver food to Elena yesterday evening, he vaguely heard the sound of a whip. He assumed Elena had been "tortured" by Charman again.]
[Note: He believed Elena was being whipped by Charman. However, the truth is that Charman tied himself up, and Elena whipped him. Charman believes he is guilty because he condoned many of Kasa's atrocities in Audrien to protect his own desires. He is trying to atone for his sins in a different way.]
[Note 2: Charman's rule: Before each flogging, he must kneel and kiss Elena's insteps, requesting her to carry out the punishment on behalf of the goddess. Elena liked this very much. To be precise, she liked seeing an old bishop, who was usually high and mighty, kneeling before her.]
After looking at the panel, Wayne was completely speechless.
He looked at Andy's simple smile, brimming with youthful energy, and for a moment he didn't know whether to pity him or admire him.
In Wayne's eyes, a clown's nose seemed to be already on Andy's face. He even seriously doubted whether Charman had truly reformed, or whether Andy was merely a pawn in the Charmans' game from beginning to end.
Andy felt a little uncomfortable under his gaze and subconsciously touched his face: "Sir, is there something on my face?"
"no."
Wayne looked away, not wanting to dwell on the topic. He nodded to Andy, "Thank you for your hard work. Go on with your work, I'll be leaving in a bit."
Andy gave a slight bow and quickly walked away.
Wayne turned around, about to walk towards the carriage, when he heard the sound of the church doors being pushed open behind him.
"Wayne, wait a minute!"
Charman's voice came from the porch, slightly out of breath. He hurried down the steps, followed by a young monk carrying a bundle.
Wayne stopped and turned around.
Charman walked up to him and looked Wayne up and down, as if he wanted to take a few more glances at his face.
"Are you leaving already?"
Charman's tone carried a hint of reluctance.
Wayne nodded. "It's time to go. The team is waiting for me, and we can't linger too long with Bellino."
Charman was silent for two seconds, then reached out and took the bundle from the little monk behind him, and shoved it into Wayne's hands.
"Take it."
Wayne weighed it in his hand; it felt like several books.
"What is this?"
“These are some notes I took when I was traveling in my youth,” Charman said. “They record some noteworthy people and forces along the way from Bellinor to the capital, as well as some… things that are not convenient to write down openly. You can look through them on the road; you might find them useful.”
Wayne did not refuse and carefully packed the bag.
Thank you.
Charman waved his hand, his tone deliberately relaxed: "What are you thanking me for? You saved my life, what's a tattered notebook?" He paused, his gaze lingering on Wayne's face for a moment, then lowered his voice, "If anyone should thank someone, it's you."
The two exchanged a few more words, and Wayne raised his hand in a brief salute before turning and getting into the carriage.
The carriage moved slowly, heading south along the street.
