Witch Training Manual: My Water Magic Is Wrong
Chapter 273 Framed
Wayne's gaze fell on Ambesse's face, and he casually steered the conversation toward something he was more interested in.
"By the way, how's Roland's curse going? It's been more than half a year since I sent him that batch of potions and haven't inquired about it in detail in my letters."
When Ambrose heard this topic, his smile deepened, and his tone became much more sincere.
"Thanks to you, the young master is much better now. After you lifted the curse on him, his health improved day by day, and his magic circulation stabilized. He used to have two or three attacks every month, but now he only experiences a slight fluctuation once every six months, which is suppressed after drinking one dose."
Wayne naturally understood what Ambace meant by "drinking once," which was related to Ambace's original racial talent.
She possessed the bloodline of a latent cow race, which brought her not only physical advantages but also a special constitution—her bodily fluids contained a high concentration of life force, naturally suppressing curses. Therefore, Ambace had always been Roland's inseparable attendant.
Anbesi continued.
"Speaking of which, thanks to you, young master, I no longer need to provide you with the service of suppressing the curse all the time. So the Haishan family transferred me from the main store to be the manager of the Bellino branch."
Wayne smiled. "Miss Ambace, you're too kind. Roland is my friend; it's only right that I help him."
Anbesi waved his hand: "No matter what, you are a benefactor of the Haizan family. If you need anything in Bellino in the future, just let me know. Don't stand on ceremony."
The Anbesi panel popped up again.
[Anbessie's Current Psychological State]
[Status: Her gratitude towards you is genuine. Without you, she would probably still be constantly by Roland's side. In a sense, you changed both Roland's and her destiny.]
[Note: Over the years, she and Roland haven't developed any romantic feelings for each other. Their relationship is more like that of siblings. However, as they've grown older, recalling the ridiculous games they played to suppress the curse, they now find each other somewhat repulsive.]
[Note 2: Ambrose's physical abilities gradually awakened starting at age thirteen. Her abilities are innate racial traits; she can control them freely without any external guidance. Of course, external guidance might enhance their effectiveness.]
The two chatted for about an hour.
If Wayne hadn't ended the conversation, Wayne probably would have continued the conversation.
Ambrose was quite satisfied with the conversation and with Wayne as well. Since awakening her racial talent, she seemed to have a natural sensitivity to the muscularity of men. So, during their conversation, she seemed to have seen through Wayne's strong physique, and she was quite pleased with his build.
Daydreams replayed in Ambace's mind. She finally decided to give thanks to the goddess and, incidentally, repent for her sins.
Wayne saw all of this through the panel.
However, he didn't say.
After settling Emma and the others in.
Wayne went to the church alone.
Bellino’s cathedral is located in the south of the city center. Unlike the old cathedral in Audrien that is constantly being repaired, this building is clearly well-funded.
Wayne stood at the bottom of the steps in front of the door, looked around for two seconds, and then stepped up.
The interior of the church was even more spacious than the exterior. Two rows of pillars supported the towering dome, and the pews were arranged in neat rows. At the front was a marble altar. Behind the altar hung a huge portrait of a goddess, whose eyes were lowered and whose face was compassionate.
A few believers sat scattered on the benches, heads bowed in prayer. A young monk in a grey robe was wiping candlesticks in the corner when he heard footsteps. He looked up and his gaze fell on Wayne.
"Hello, sir." The monk put down the rag he was holding and took two steps toward him. "Is there anything you need? Are you here to pray, or would you like to speak with a member of the clergy?"
Wayne pulled out his bishop's badge from his pocket and showed it to the other person.
The young monk's gaze lingered on the badge for a moment, then he immediately adopted a respectful expression: "So you're a colleague. Please wait a moment, I'll go and fetch the parish bishop."
After saying that, the young cultivator turned and left.
He walked quickly into the depths of the corridor, and just as he turned the first corner, a hand blocked his way.
"stop."
A young man in a dark blue bishop's robe emerged from the shadows of the side of the corridor. He had a thin face, high cheekbones, and a faint smile playing on his lips. He looked to be in his early thirties, and the silver piping on the hem of his robe indicated his high rank.
The gray-robed cultivator immediately stopped and bowed in respect.
"Auxiliary Bishop Dalton".
Dalton didn't return the greeting, but merely raised his chin and glanced towards the hall: "Do you know that person outside?"
The grey-robed monk shook his head: "I don't recognize him. But he showed his bishop's badge; he's a colleague of the Vatican, and according to procedure, I should report him..."
"Rules?" Dalton interrupted him, his tone imposing. "Do you think just any Tom, Dick, or Harry can see His Holiness the Bishop? If His Holiness saw everyone, wouldn't he be exhausted?"
The gray-robed cultivator was momentarily speechless and didn't dare to refute.
Dalton took half a step forward, his tone flat: "Leave this to me. Go back to your post."
The gray-robed cultivator hesitated for a moment, but nodded and quickly retreated.
Dalton stood at the corner of the corridor, watching the grey-robed monk's figure disappear at the end of the porch. He didn't leave immediately, but lingered in the shadows for a couple more seconds, the smile on his lips slowly deepening.
"Wayne, Wayne. I never imagined that after all this time, you would end up back in my hands."
Ten minutes later.
At the corner of the church hall.
A team of inspectors dressed in black Vatican uniforms filed in, led by Dalton. He held a roll of parchment in his hand, a faint smile playing on his lips.
Soon, Wayne was surrounded by inspectors.
Dalton unfolded the parchment in his hand, cleared his throat, and his voice echoed in the empty church hall.
"Bishop Wayne of Frosttown committed the following crimes during his term of office: 1. Colluding with witches, maintaining close ties with members of the Witch Cult in Frosttown, and using his position to provide them with protection; 2. Blaspheming, taking advantage of his position while serving as Bishop of Frosttown, engaging in improper relationships with multiple female believers under the guise of so-called 'water magic healing,' thus damaging the reputation of the Holy See; 3. Causing chaos within the Holy See, overstepping his authority in dealing with missionaries of the Holy See of St. Hilde, arbitrarily executing eight people, leading to tensions between the two churches and seriously damaging the interests of the Holy See."
