Witch Training Manual: My Water Magic Is Wrong
Chapter 276 Detection of the Anti-Magic Stone
Upon hearing Freddy say that the evidence was on its way, Dalton immediately perked up, as if he had been given a shot of adrenaline, and even forgot to cover the red mark on his neck.
"Yes! The evidence will be here soon!"
He peeked halfway out from behind Freddy.
"Wayne, you're finished!"
Wayne stood there, his expression unchanged, and simply asked in a flat tone, "Are you so sure that I'm the one who's doomed?"
Dalton was further provoked by his indifferent attitude: "What else? You're still stubbornly denying it! Once the anti-magic stone is tested and the identities of those two witches are exposed, let's see how long you can keep up the act!"
Wayne didn't reply, but simply took a step forward.
Dalton almost reflexively shrank back halfway, hiding directly behind Freddy.
Freddy turned his head slightly to the side.
Dalton then realized that his reaction was somewhat embarrassing. He straightened up from behind Freddy, straightened his collar, but his eyes still held a hint of undisguised apprehension.
Wayne looked at him, a slight smirk playing on his lips. "You really are a coward, Dalton. I haven't even done anything yet, and you're already backing away in fear. Is this what you call 'confidence'?"
Dalton opened his mouth, about to retort, when the church door was pushed open from the outside.
All eyes turned toward the doorway.
Two members of the divine servants' corps, dressed in grey robes, escorted two figures into the hall. The two sisters, their hair somewhat disheveled, were pushed and shoved as they entered.
The servant's shoving was rough, and Emma stumbled, almost falling. Ella, her wrists bound, glanced at her sister without speaking, but the suppressed emotions in her eyes were obvious to everyone.
However, when the sisters saw Wayne standing in the center of the hall, their tense bodies relaxed instantly. They quickly broke free of their guards and rushed towards Wayne.
"Owner!"
The servants instinctively took two steps forward, but were stopped by Freddy raising his hand as soon as they took a step.
The two sisters hid behind Wayne.
Emma's eyes were a little red.
"Master...have we caused you trouble?"
Wayne reached out and flicked her forehead lightly.
"Fools, when have you ever caused me any trouble?"
Then, Ella's gaze passed over Wayne's shoulder and landed on a servant of the gods in a gray robe across the hall. She stared at the man for two seconds, her gaze turning cold, before raising her hand and pointing at him.
"Master, it was him. He hit Sister Vera. Sister Vera just ran over to stop them, and he pushed her to the ground. Her head hit the steps, and she bled a lot."
Wayne's gaze followed Ella's finger and landed on the servant of the gods. The man looked to be in his early thirties, with a stocky build and a stubble on his chin. Faced with Ella's identification, his expression remained unchanged, even showing a hint of indifference.
"He's just an ordinary citizen, obstructing the divine servants' law enforcement. What's wrong with pushing him a little?"
Wayne's eyes instantly turned cold.
An invisible pressure surged from all directions, as if the air itself had suddenly gained weight, pressing down on every joint of his body. The servant's body seemed to be nailed to the spot by something; his legs began to tremble involuntarily, and his breathing became rapid.
"As a clergyman, he arbitrarily beats up civilians..."
Before Wayne could finish speaking, an invisible force field swept past from the side and struck the servant of the god in the face from a distance.
Snapped.
It was crisp and clear.
The servant of the god was slapped so hard he staggered two steps to the side, half of his cheek swelling up rapidly. He covered his face, turning his head blankly towards the direction from which the force field had come.
Freddy slowly withdrew his right hand: "The Divine Servant Squad enforces the law with restraint. Who gave you permission to lay a hand on civilians?"
The servant covered his face and quickly lowered his head.
"Your subordinate knows his mistake."
Dalton stood to the side, his face grim.
His gaze swept back and forth between Freddy and the servant of God, a surge of anger rising within him, but he dared not vent it on Freddy. Instead, he turned away and aimed his anger at Wayne once more.
"Hmph, even on the verge of death, you're still thinking of harming others." Dalton sneered. "Damn witch, you won't learn your lesson until you're facing certain death. The anti-magic stone is right outside the door. Once your identities are revealed, I'll personally burn you all!"
Upon hearing the words "anti-magic stone," Emma's body visibly stiffened, and she instinctively shrank back behind Wayne.
Soon, the church doors were pushed open from the outside, and four priests carried in a heavy stone slab.
The stone slab was dark black overall, with various inscriptions engraved on its surface. It was placed on a temporary wooden frame in the center of the hall, and made a dull thud when it was placed down.
Anti-magic stone.
An alchemical product that can detect the magical fluctuations and intensity within a person through contact, and can identify the person by the color of the light it emits.
Contact with ordinary people will not elicit any reaction, but those with magical talent will trigger different colored lights. Witches, on the other hand, will trigger lights of crimson, deep purple, and pure black. This is one of the important methods the Vatican uses to identify witches.
Wayne looked at the two sisters behind him and said.
"Do you remember what I told you before?"
The two sisters nodded.
"Hmm...I remember..."
"Just put your hand on it in a moment. Don't be afraid, I'm here."
Seeing the worried looks on the two sisters' faces, Dalton's expression turned arrogant: "Keep being stubborn! Let's see if you're still so stubborn!"
Emma took a deep breath and stepped out from behind Wayne. She looked at Dalton's face and snorted, "Hmph, my sister and I aren't afraid of you! Just you wait! Master will make you regret this!"
After saying that, she and her sister strode to the anti-magic stone, took a deep breath, and glanced at Wayne.
Wayne nodded slightly to them.
Soon, two hands were placed on the surface of the anti-magic stone.
All eyes were focused on the anti-magic stone, and the hall was so quiet you could hear your own heartbeat.
One second. Two seconds. Three seconds.
The crystal lit up.
Dalton became excited, as if he had been set ablaze. His voice suddenly rose several octaves as he pointed at the stone tablet and shouted loudly to Freddy beside him.
"My lord! Look! It's lit! The anti-magic stone is lit! They are witches! Burn them! They are witches!"
Hearing Dalton's shout, the two sisters' expressions changed from worry to fear.
Are they really going to be a burden to their master?
