Witch Training Manual: My Water Magic Is Wrong

Chapter 323 The Two Who Resigned

After dealing with Aya's apprenticeship, Wayne didn't rest. He had Alice take Aya back to the manor first, while he headed towards the Black Order.

The carriage soon stopped in front of the Black Order.

He pushed open the door and went inside. The atmosphere in the hall was not much different from yesterday.

Anka, however, was not idle. She was standing in front of the row of file cabinets by the wall, rearranging the scattered files.

She heard the door open, turned around and saw Wayne. She put down the file in her hand and came to greet him: "Master, you've arrived."

Wayne nodded.

He glanced around the hall.

Torre had already gotten up from the table and stood up straight. Blair also put down his teacup, and although he wasn't as nervous as Torre, his posture was more upright than yesterday.

Wayne cut to the chase: "What's your thought about what I mentioned yesterday?"

There was a two-second silence in the hall.

Torre and Blair exchanged a glance, then approached Wayne simultaneously. Their voices carried a hint of shame and resolve: "Master... Blair and I have discussed it. We both know our limitations. If the Black Order wants to rise again, it doesn't need people who just coast along. If we stay here, we'll only be a burden to you and Anka. So... we request a transfer."

After saying that, they both took out a pre-written transfer application from their pockets and handed it to Wayne with both hands.

Wayne glanced down at the letter, paused for two seconds, and then reached out to take it.

"Okay. I approve."

Seeing that Wayne readily agreed, Torre relaxed his shoulders slightly and let out a long sigh of relief.

Blair then gave a slight bow to Wayne: "Master, thank you for your help. May the Goddess protect you, and may the Black Order rise again under your leadership."

Wayne didn't say anything to try and persuade you to stay: "I respect your choice. I'll sign the transfer order, and I'll have the follow-up procedures arranged. You can leave with peace of mind."

Torre and Blair bowed again.

Finally, the two walked out the door at the same time.

After they left, Anka couldn't help but ask, "Sir, you just let them go like that?"

Wayne sat down at the table, his tone flat: "What else can we do? People aren't here. Even if we force them to stay, they'll just be decorations. You can't force a relationship. Leaving is the best choice for both of us."

Anka listened without rebuttal.

She knew in her heart that Wayne was telling the truth. Torrey and Blair had been here for so long, yet they had never truly considered themselves members of the Black Order; forcing them to stay wouldn't change anything.

The hall fell silent again.

Wayne's gaze fell on Anka.

"And what about you? Why don't you leave?"

Anka's hand paused for a moment.

She remained silent for a few moments, then finally sighed.

"I have a reason why I can't leave. The cause of my father's death has never been determined. The last place he spent his life was the Black Order. There are some things hidden in the files he left behind. I must find out."

Wayne's gaze sharpened slightly.

Anka's father, Anthony.

He remembered hearing about it somewhere before, but it seemed to have been many years ago.

The panel popped up at this point.

[Anka - Supplementary Character Background Information]

[Identity: Former head of the Dark Order, daughter of Anthony.]

[Background: Eight years ago, Anthony was found downstream in the river west of the city. His body had been submerged in water for several days, with no obvious external injuries. The official conclusion was that he accidentally fell into the water. But Anka never believed this conclusion.]

[Note: Anthony was the last remaining member of the Black Order to continue his work, and he briefly assisted Cecil in investigating internal reforms within the Vatican. Just a month before his death, he privately told Anka that he had found some crucial clues, which he would release to the public once they were organized. Those clues sank to the bottom of the river west of the city with him.]

Seeing Anka's dejected look, Wayne comforted her.

"Don't worry! With me here, the Black Order will definitely not let you down. And I believe there will eventually be an answer regarding your father."

Before Anka could even feel moved, the Black Order's dilapidated wooden door was pushed open from the outside.

A middle-aged man in the uniform of a royal messenger strode in, followed by two fully armed royal guards. The messenger's gaze swept across the hall before finally settling on Wayne, and he said in a businesslike tone, "Wayne Angus, receive the King's decree."

Wayne stood up, straightened his collar, and gave a slight bow.

Anka quickly followed suit and bowed politely.

The messenger read aloud:

"Queen's Decree: Effective immediately, the Black Order is hereby reorganized, and its independent powers of investigation, interrogation, and arrest are restored. Within the capital, the Black Order shall have higher priority than the Holy Knights and the city's defense forces when carrying out official duties. In cases involving personnel of the Papacy, the Black Order has the right to intervene first, and shall report to the Cardinals afterwards. This decree shall take effect upon its reading. So be it."

After the messenger finished reading the decree, he closed the parchment and handed it to Wayne with both hands: "My Lord, the decree has been delivered. Please keep it safe."

Wayne took the parchment scroll.

"Thank you for making the trip."

The messenger waved his hand, offering no further pleasantries, and then turned and quickly left with two guards.

On the other side, Anka was still standing there, stunned.

Her gaze was fixed on the parchment in Wayne's hand, stamped with the king's seal, as if she wanted to make a flower bloom from it.

Anka's feelings were extremely complicated at this moment.

She never expected that what Wayne had mentioned just yesterday would be settled so quickly today.

It seems that the new manager's power is much greater than she imagined, and by a significant margin.

If Torrey and Blair knew that Wayne had just resolved the issue of the Black Order's law enforcement authority, they would probably regret it to the core.

Anka looked at Wayne and couldn't help but ask.

"My lord... how did you manage to issue this decree? Just yesterday you said that the issues were too complex to resolve and required time... how come the palace issued the decree today?"

Wayne put away the edict and explained the reason.

"Just yesterday, I went to see Her Majesty the Queen. We discussed some things and obtained some information. This decree is the result. However, we need to produce results as soon as possible in the near future."

However, Anka's face remained expressionless; he simply nodded solemnly to Wayne: "Understood, sir. Rest assured, I will cooperate fully."

Wayne looked into her eyes, confirmed the change in her mindset, and nodded: "Okay."

Just then, Anka seemed to suddenly remember something. She turned around, walked quickly to her desk, pulled out the top file from a stack of neatly organized documents, and handed it to Wayne.

"Sir, this is the case list I compiled overnight. This case is the easiest to get started with and the most suitable for us to use to establish our authority."
