Vayne was forced to use his water elemental form to barely escape the onslaught.

Immediately afterwards, all five of them pressed forward again at the same time.

Wayne did not pull out his staff.

He clasped his hands together in front of his chest, and a layer of warm, moist light spread from his palms.

The water didn't condense; instead, it flowed into the ground beneath his feet, forming a slowly spreading ripple.

Ripples covered the entire open space.

The five people paused for a moment.

The leader was the first to sense something was wrong. The moment he stepped on the ripple, the power within him seemed to be suppressed by something, and its circulation suddenly became sluggish. That forceful sense of power was visibly fading away.

"What is this thing?!"

Wayne did not answer.

Water Magic - Healing Form.

The Crimson Fruit grants power by overdrawing the body's potential, resulting in a temporary surge in magical energy, but at the cost of leaving the body largely depleted afterward. Water magic, in its healing form, is essentially about repairing damage and removing curses; when used on a normal human, it's a divine skill for restoring health.

When used on someone who is overtaxed, the effect becomes to forcibly bring the overloaded body back to a normal level.

In other words, he was "treating" these five people.

It is to curb the power they should not possess.

The leader was horrified; he tried to channel his magic in vain. The boost from the fruit seemed to have been shut off; no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't increase the power.

Even more terrifying was that the painlessness was fading, and his lower back, where Wayne had just kicked him, was throbbing with pain.

He wanted to back out, but it was too late.

Wayne moved.

Within five steps, he didn't use any large-scale magic or elaborate incantations; he simply slipped past them by the gaps in their path.

Water elements condensed into short, thin arrows at close range, silently hovering where his palm swept across.

The first water jet pierced the leader's temple.

It is open and transparent from front to back.

The leader's pupils dilated in an instant, and then he seemed to have lost all support, falling straight backward.

The remaining four people realized what was happening.

However, most of the fruit's amplification had been removed, and the ferocity they had forcibly brought into their bodies was fading at a visible rate. Without the support of pain, fear returned to their eyes.

Some wanted to run, while others wanted to fight to the death.

Wayne didn't give anyone time.

Water jets shot out one after another, each one hitting its mark. The heads of the four men were pierced almost simultaneously, and their bodies slammed to the ground with a dull thud.

The open space fell silent.

Five corpses lay in a circle, blood slowly seeping from their wounds into the soil.

Wayne shook the water off his hands and turned around.

"it's over."

Tessa leaned against the tree trunk and did not answer.

She lowered her head, hugged her shoulders with both hands, her knuckles turned white, and her whole body trembled slightly.

Wayne took two steps closer and sensed something was wrong.

"Tessa?"

Tessa looked up.

An unnatural flush rose to her cheeks, even tinging her eyes with a rosy hue. Her breathing was rapid and shallow, as if she couldn't even manage a steady breath. The way she looked at Wayne had changed, carrying an almost barely concealed urge to cry.

"It's been so long... since I've seen you."

I...I want to...

Her voice trembled uncontrollably as she spoke.

Coming to her senses, Tessa bit her lip and remained silent.

Wayne pretended not to hear.

"Don't speak, let's get out of here first."

He bent down, put one of Tessa's arms on his shoulder, and helped her stand up from the tree trunk. She was practically leaning on him, her knees were weak, and every step she took seemed like she was forcing herself to move forward.

Tessa responded softly, buried her face in his shoulder, and didn't say anything more.

Wayne did not deal with the five bodies.

He helped Tessa walk deeper into the orchard. Soon, their figures disappeared into the dense foliage.

Wayne helped Tessa walk for nearly fifteen minutes before stopping in a cave to make sure no one was following them.

Tessa slid down against the wall, breathing rapidly, beads of sweat rolling down her face.

Her panel appeared.

[Tessa's Additional Information]

[Strength: Tier 6]

[Identity: A legitimate saintess of the Holy See of Saint Hilde. She publicly claims to be in seclusion for years of ascetic practice, but in reality, she has infiltrated the City of Eternal Sleep to investigate the ruins of the divine tomb.]

[Note: You are the only man she has been with all these years. Since that time, she has never forgotten you, but for your safety, she has never contacted you again. If people knew that you were involved with the Holy Maiden, probably half the continent would come to kill you.]

[Note 2: She imprisoned you for over ten days, initially believing she had passed the test of desire. Later, she realized she was wrong; since separating from you, she could only "forgive" her sins by praying to the goddess.]

Wayne reached out and placed his hand on Tessa's shoulder, a warm blue light emanating from his palm. But after glancing at Tessa's flushed cheeks, he withdrew his hand.

Water is a mirror; it doesn't just not purify, it only reflects. What you hold in your heart, it will reveal—but that doesn't seem quite right now.

Wayne decided to switch to Holy Light.

However, as the white light shone at his fingertips and his hand landed on Tessa's arm, Tessa gently pushed his hand away.

"It's no use... This isn't an ordinary aphrodisiac; it's a curse from the abyss. Holy light purification can only suppress the surface; it can't break through the root."

Wayne withdrew his hand and looked at her face.

"Then only water magic remains."

Tessa lowered her eyelids shyly, which was taken as tacit agreement.

Wayne placed his palm on her shoulder again.

Water seeped into her palms and slowly traveled along her blood vessels. At first, it was gentle, like spring water melting ice, and Tessa's clenched teeth loosened slightly, but then her body suddenly tensed up.

The accumulated curses, as if cornered by water, began to retaliate, the two forces tangling within her. Water magic flowed through her veins, washing away the curses layer by layer, while also repeatedly shattering her taut sanity.

Tessa groaned softly.

She couldn't help but let out a soft moan.

"Aaaaaaahhhhhh..."

Wayne did not stop.

Water continued to flow in, washing away the cursed aura that lingered in her meridians layer by layer, until her curled-up body gradually relaxed and her breathing gradually became calm.

He then released his grip.

Tessa slumped against the wall, her whole body soaked in sweat, as if she had just been pulled out of the water.

"Are you feeling better?"

Tessa nodded, her voice weak and listless:

"...Much better. Thanks."

She leaned against the wall to catch her breath, then looked up, her gaze falling on Wayne's face, hesitant to speak.

In the end, she blushed and blurted it out.

"Um... could you... could you step out for a moment?"

Wayne naturally understood; after all, as the one in charge of the treatment, he couldn't possibly be clueless.

He nodded slightly.

"good!"
