Chapter 251 Electricity

Cao Xiulian couldn't help but chuckle at Ya Ya's movements. The child was so flexible; she could reach her nose with just a lift of her foot.
Unlike her, she struggles to even bend down and trim her toenails, let alone lift her foot.
My back is straighter than a steel bar.
Cao Xiulian unpacked the newly bought hair dryer, plugged it in, ran her fingers through Ya Ya's hair, and pressed the switch on the side of the hair dryer.
woo-
The sudden noise startled Ya Ya, who shrank back and glanced at the cylindrical container with a handle in her aunt's hand. The strong warm air made her shiver.
What is this?
Cao Xiulian quickly turned off the switch. She hadn't expected the little guy to be so reckless, pressing his face against the hairdryer nozzle to look at it.
The warm breeze stopped abruptly. Ya Ya leaned closer to the cylinder. "Auntie, what is this thing? How can it blow out warm air by itself?"
Cao Xiulian reached out and pushed the little head that was about to get into the hairdryer a little further away before explaining to Ya Ya seriously, "This is a hairdryer, specially used to dry hair. With it, your hair will dry quickly and you won't catch a cold."
Seeing that Ya Ya was completely unaware of the dangers of the hairdryer, and knowing that children are at the stage of greatest curiosity at this age, she earnestly warned, "There's electricity inside, so never get too close to the nozzle, or you could easily get burned. Just keep it blowing from a distance. Don't play with it by yourself."
电?
Ya Ya looked curiously at the long rope behind the ventilation duct, the black rope leading all the way to the white board on the wall. Suddenly, she remembered that Grandpa Fang had told her that the phone would drain the battery, so she quickly said, "Auntie, I took the recording you made yesterday back to Grandma and the others. Grandma was just about to call you back when the phone went dark and she couldn't turn it on no matter what she did."
Grandpa Fang said the phone needs power, and he even asked me to bring the rope. Do you know how to get the phone back on with power?
Cao Xiulian's eyes crinkled with amusement at the little guy's innocent words, and she gently corrected him: "That's called charging, not eating. Electronic products need to be charged when they run out of power. Auntie will do it for you later. Kids shouldn't touch the sockets, especially when their hands are wet."
"Don't look yet, let me dry your hair."
"Okay." Ya Ya obediently turned her head to the right place and sat upright in the chair.
The hot wind made her hair fly everywhere, and before long, Ya Ya found that her hair was really dry, even faster than when it was dried under the summer sun!
"Okay, give me your phone and charging cable, I'll charge it for you." Cao Xiulian unplugged the hairdryer and put it away, then gently smoothed Ya Ya's hair with her hand.
I forgot to buy a comb, but luckily the little guy doesn't have much hair, so I just ran my fingers through it and it was smooth.
Ya Ya instinctively reached into her pocket, but the fuzzy texture made her realize that she was wearing new clothes and there was nothing inside; she couldn't just make something out of thin air.
He quickly slipped to the cart and rummaged around for a while before pulling out a small box and handing it to Cao Xiulian.
"You even brought the box." Cao Xiulian took the box, plugged in the phone's data cable, and then plugged the plug into the wall socket.
In just a short while, the previously dark screen suddenly lit up.
"Wow! My phone is so much better now! It charges so well!" Ya Ya stared curiously at the wall socket. "Auntie, is all the electricity hidden inside the wall? And does it flow out through this board with five holes?"
Cao Xiulian rubbed her temples; she needed to think of a way to explain this.
Is it possible that this little guy's village doesn't have electricity yet? He doesn't even recognize the sockets.
But it doesn't look like it's out of power. It has a light, a flashlight, and even a cell phone. It also uses a small watch every day.
"We can charge our devices here because there are wirings inside the walls that connect to the national power grid. With the national power grid supplying electricity, every household can have access to electricity."
Ya Ya nodded, seemingly understanding but not quite.
It turns out it was a national communication device.
This country is amazing! It can produce such a magical energy as electricity and make it available to every household. It's such a big place and so many people can use it.
Their country doesn't have any; they're so disappointing. It seems they can't use electricity.
She had originally planned to learn how to drill electricity from the wall so she could buy a hairdryer for Aunt Chuntao, Sister Xinghua, and Sister Gouya, whose hair must be very itchy since she hasn't washed it yet.
Gathering her thoughts, Ya Ya picked up her phone.
Cao Xiulian taught her, "See this little battery icon in the upper right corner? It's this square with a little cap. That's the battery level. If it's full, the battery is full. If it's empty, it will automatically shut down. That's why you see it won't light up no matter how you press it."
So you need to charge it when the battery is almost empty!
Ya Ya looked enlightened and said, "Oh, I see. Now I understand."
She had been worried that the phone would suddenly go dark again when she got back, and it just went dark without any warning.
Unlike people, whose stomachs rumble, feel sour, or can speak when they're hungry.
Now that I know there are special little patterns that can change, I feel much more at ease!
As she spoke, Ya Ya picked up her phone, glanced at the battery icon, and saw it was barely showing any power, meaning she needed to charge it again. She immediately put it back, afraid of accidentally running out of battery again; her time was limited.
With nothing to do in the room, Ya Ya and Cao Xiulian stared at each other blankly.
This was the first time Cao Xiulian had such a free time. After thinking for a moment, she said, "Ya Ya, are you going to bring some things to the village today? Thanks to you, Auntie has sold out of everything and has some free time. I can go shopping with you. Do you want Auntie to go with you?"
"Hmm? Okay, okay! Auntie, come with me. I want to buy vegetables. Auntie, you just need to follow me. I know the area very well now!"
Ya Ya's eyes lit up, eager to show off her abilities.
Cao Xiulian couldn't help but laugh out loud, and stood up to support Ya Ya's little stroller: "Really? Then Auntie will have to take a good look at how our clever and capable little Ya Ya usually buys things."
The two brought out the cart, locked the shop door, and Ya Ya happily led the way, chatting and laughing all the way as they walked straight towards the fruit and vegetable stall area.
Knowing the way well, they led Cao Xiulian to the stall of the old man in the floral jacket, which was her favorite spot. Before Ya Ya could even speak, the stall owner greeted them with a smile: "Little girl, it's been a while since you've come to buy groceries. Did your parents come with you today?"
Ya Ya proudly raised her head, "Yes, my aunt went grocery shopping with me!"
Cao Xiulian smiled at the stall owner and looked down at the stall in front of her.
The stall displayed fresh seasonal vegetables, in small portions, all of which looked homegrown, fresh and vibrant, including tender spinach, bok choy, green garlic sprouts, baby radishes, and persimmons.
"What would you like to buy today?" The stall owner asked with a smile as he watched Ya Ya's gaze sweep from the left to the right of the stall.
"Today," Ya Ya recalled Grandpa Zhang's words and declared confidently, "I'm going to buy everything today!"
