Tokyo: My Girlfriend
Chapter 78 Hina and Anzu's Argument
In the hotel lounge, after they had both calmed down for a while, they finally settled down.
Kyoko Tamura sat on the sofa with her head down, the shadow of her short hair obscuring her eyes.
The staff handed the other person two glasses of water, but did not dare to disturb them any further.
After her hands were simply bandaged, Haruhi Hinata went outside and asked for details about what had happened.
Facing the outburst from Kyoko Tamura, Masahiro Horii told her everything.
He did indeed get married five years ago and has a daughter; his wife and daughter currently reside abroad.
He had three lovers in total in Japan. Tamura Kyoko was actually the last one. According to Horii Masahiro, Kyoko was his favorite and also the one he feared the most.
He never hid his philandering from his other two lovers, and they were all aware of each other's existence.
Even his wife knew about his affair and argued with him several times, but everyone, for money or other reasons, did not break up with him after learning the truth.
Only Tamura Kyoko's straightforward, outspoken, and even occasionally dominant personality made Horii Masamichi like her a lot, but he never dared to tell her these things.
He said he truly treated Tamura Kyoko with the same respect he would show a girlfriend; otherwise, given Tamura Kyoko's personality, she would have noticed something amiss long ago, and he spent the most time with her.
This situation was just an accident.
In the corridor, Horii Masahiro's forehead was covered in cold sweat, his voice trembling, yet he still managed to feign helplessness:
"Actually, I did have the idea of marrying Kyoko, but it wasn't the right time... However, it's definitely impossible now. But to make it up to Kyoko, I'm willing to offer a large sum of money as compensation. Ms. Hina, could you please put in a good word for me?"
Before he could finish speaking, even Haruhi Hina couldn't help but slap him, and Tamura Kyoko inside the house gritted her teeth.
Haruhi Hina's eyes widened in shock, and she revealed the truth with disappointment: "Even now, are you still telling me you'll marry her, lying like that?"
The woman in pajamas next to him dared not say anything in the face of this scene.
Women aren't that stupid.
He stopped arguing.
Haruhi Hina told them to wait outside and returned to the lounge alone. Looking at Kyoko Tamura sitting motionless, she frowned: "Kyoko..."
Tamura Kyoko naturally overheard their conversation. The door remained open, and she said coldly, "Just do as he says. Tell that bastard to give me two hundred million yen and get out. Of course, he doesn't have to take the money, as long as he dares to say he won't."
Haruhi Hina nodded slowly: "Okay, I'll go talk to him."
The man standing outside readily agreed. It wasn't the first time he'd known Tamura Kyoko, and given what had just happened, he knew very well that if he really angered her, she was capable of anything.
He promised, "I'll call the company's finance department right now and do everything I can to get the money to Xingzi before noon!"
At noon, the weather was exceptionally hot today.
The air in Tokyo felt surreal, as if scorched by the sun.
Horii Masago and that woman have already left.
The money has already arrived in my account.
Haruhi Hina booked a room and said to Kyoko, who was lying on the bed, "Rest for a while, don't think about it anymore."
With her back to Haruhi Hina, Tamura Kyoko's voice was weak, as if she had lost most of her life. Even the faint sound of the air conditioner seemed amplified at that moment: "Hina, go to the nearby hospital to get it bandaged up. I'm sorry I can't go with you. I'm so sorry I hurt you."
Hearing this, Haruhi Hina felt relieved and smiled reassuringly, "It's okay, it's not a big wound, and it doesn't hurt much anymore, so there's no need to go to the hospital."
"It will leave a scar, but you should still go. Otherwise, Shinichi Kitagawa will blame me in the future."
Haruhi Hina knew she couldn't leave him at this moment. Looking at the bandage on her hand, she said, "It's really okay. It's just a small scratch. What kind of scar could it leave? Go to sleep. I'll stay here with you all day."
Kyoko Tamura didn't say anything more, she just closed her eyes.
Haruhi Hina waited until she fell asleep before finally letting out a sigh of relief and adjusting the thin blanket for her.
She had known Tamura Kyoko since junior high school. She was somewhat surprised when Kyoko pulled out the dagger; she hadn't expected Tamura Kyoko to be so extreme.
She had always said that she had been in many relationships and would never truly fall for a man again.
However, over the past three years, the concern that Horii Masahiro has shown, at least on the surface, has genuinely moved Kyoko's feelings.
Otherwise, given Kyoko's sensitive nature, she would never have ignored such obvious flaws during their relationship.
She was too convinced that she had finally met a man who truly liked her and was right for her, so she may have been deceiving herself for a long time.
Haruhi Hina went to the restroom alone and took out her phone to check the time.
But while flushing the toilet, I unexpectedly heard what sounded like a door opening slightly.
Haruhi Hina thought she had misheard. She opened the bathroom door and came out, only to find the bed empty and no one there.
"Kyoko..."
Her eyes widened, sensing something was terribly wrong, and she immediately chased after her downstairs, calling out, "Xingzi!"
When Haruhi Hina came downstairs, she saw Tamura Kyoko, who was already in the car, with bloodshot eyes, and she started the car with trembling hands.
Haruhi Hina couldn't imagine what she was going to do.
He rushed over and opened the car door, stopping her from doing anything foolish: "Xingzi, are you crazy! There's no need to go to such lengths!"
Kyoko Tamura seemed to have lost her mind. Resting didn't calm her down; instead, it made her even more fixated on the situation. She yelled, "Let me go!"
She muttered to herself, "That bastard doesn't think everything will be over just because he gave me money! Does he think I'm only with him for the money?! If he hadn't pursued me for so long and promised to treat me well when he confessed his feelings, would I have dated him?!"
"For the past three years, I've been thinking about him constantly, and I've even made the sacrifice of seeing him only once a month. I was even planning to buy him a gift for his birthday at the end of the month, and then..." she roared, "and this is how he treated me!"
"Kyoko! Don't do this!" Haruhi Hina grabbed her arm, looking at her almost frantic eyes, and tears welled up in her eyes as well. "I know you're in pain right now! But..."
"No buts!" she interrupted Haruhi Hina, her voice hoarse. "Hina, I'm not like you! I would never let the person I love be with someone else. Since he said he would love me forever, he has to keep his promise."
"But things have already come to this! What good will it do if you do something drastic now?!" Haruhi tried her best to dissuade him, otherwise it could very well turn into something he would regret for the rest of his life: "Listen to me, get off the bus, okay?! Don't be impulsive!"
During the struggle, Tamura Kyoko abruptly shoved Haruhi Hina away, yelling, "Get away! I told you not to touch me!" Her eyes were red and her pupils were wide.
"Haruhi Hina? What do you mean by 'impulsive'?! Do you really want me to be like you, giving away everything I want to others and suffering like that to feel better?! I'm not as stupid as you! And I don't need to do something so stupid! Only a brainless idiot like you would do something so stupid!"
"Kyoko..." Haruhi Hina frowned, tears streaming down her face. "I didn't mean it that way, I..."
"How dare you, someone who can't even understand their own feelings, try to advise me! Get lost!"
Haruhi Hina's pupils trembled, and she clutched her chest, suddenly remembering Kitagawa Shinichi, a wave of sorrow washing over her again:
"Kyoko!" Seeing her about to start the car again, he still held her hand tightly, his voice choked with emotion.
"Yes, I don't even understand my own feelings. I clearly like Shin-il, but I still did something stupid like pushing him away! Just like you said, I really was an idiot, a brainless person. That decision has been causing me a lot of pain ever since, and I regret it!"
She cried out, "But back then, my idea was also to make Shin-yi happy!! I still don't believe that if Shin-yi doesn't like me, forcing him to be with me is necessarily the right thing to do! Just like you now, insisting on being with someone who doesn't love you, does that really make you happy?!"
With tears in her eyes, she said, "Calm down, Xingzi. If he still likes you, I'll agree to whatever you do, whether it's trying to win him back or doing anything else."
Haruhi Hina's eyes were blurry with tears, and her voice choked with emotion:
"But now that we know the truth, and since he never loved you in the first place, there's no need to ruin yourself for a man like that. Please calm down. We both need to look forward. Whether it's me or you, you'll find someone better, and I'll start making amends for the mistakes I made with Shin-il, instead of just giving up."
She noticed that Kyoko Tamura's grip on the steering wheel had loosened, so she quickly moved her hands away from the wheel.
He hugged her and said, "Everything will be alright, we'll both be alright, you have to believe me, Xingzi."
Kyoko Tamura felt Haruhi Hina's tight, trembling embrace.
Suddenly, she bit her lip, buried her face in her shoulder, and started crying.
"A bunch of brainless idiots... We're all the same, a bunch of fools... That bastard, that bastard... I was planning to marry him, I had fantasized about our married life countless times, I was planning to spend my whole life with him..."
Her cries were heart-wrenching, her fingers gripping tightly the back of Haruhi Hina's clothes: "Hina... I'm sorry..."
