Chapter 94 Teacher, can I be sisters with Reina?

This was Haruhi Hina's first time visiting Kitagawa Shinichi and Kitagawa Rena's home.

After receiving permission to enter, she gently pushed open the courtyard gate, her peach blossom eyes scrutinizing every nook and cranny of the yard. There was a clothes rack with her siblings' clothes drying, and roses and morning glories that Reina must have planted in the yard.

There was also the bicycle that Shinichi Kitagawa often rode, parked in the corner.

The thought that this was the place Shinichi Kitagawa returned to every day gave Haruna a special feeling.

Seeing her cautious demeanor, Kitagawa Rena closed her eyes, let out a long sigh, and stood up from the steps: "It's too sunny outside, let's go inside and talk."

Haruhi Hina's journey went much more smoothly than she had imagined. In fact, ever since Kitagawa Shinichi started dating Aoki Akemi, Haruhi Hina could clearly sense that Rena was no longer as wary of her as before.

They don't keep staring at me during English class, and my grades are much better than when I first transferred here.

"Sorry to bother Reina."

She went into the entryway, took off her high heels and put on shoes.

The air conditioner in the room was humming continuously. Kitagawa Rena went to the refrigerator to find a drink: "What would you like to drink? Do you have various juices or would you like some herbal tea?"

"Juice, any kind of juice is fine."

Rena Kitagawa took out a glass of melon juice, poured it for the other person, and handed it over.

Haruhi Hina sat on the sofa, looking at the silver-haired girl who was also wearing a white dress. The two actually looked quite like sisters based on their clothes.

However, Hina's own skirt wasn't that white; it was more yellowish, so there was still a color difference.

Haruhi Hina took the drink from the tray and said thank you. Kitagawa Rena looked at this beautiful and generous woman.

She plopped down on the sofa: "I didn't expect the teacher to come and talk to me. Is there something important?"

Haruhi Hina took a sip of the cool watermelon juice and smiled gently: "Nothing special, it's just that it's summer vacation, and I wanted to come see you."

"Look at me? What's so interesting about me?" She picked up her drink but put it down without drinking it, because she had already drunk too much today. She asked curiously, "You're not here to see Xin Yi, are you? He went out with someone this morning and won't be back until the day after tomorrow, assuming he's willing to see you, of course."

Hearing this, Haruhi Hina could already picture him and Akemi being intimate on the train, and her heart still ached a little. "No, I really wanted to see you." She didn't beat around the bush. "Dad has been talking about you a lot lately, but I've only given him half-truths. After all, I don't know much about Reina's situation either, and I haven't told you about it."

Kitagawa Rena blinked as she observed the other woman's elegant and beautiful appearance. Sometimes she could understand why Shinichi would fall in love with this woman.

Aside from one outrageous flaw, almost everything else is a strength.

Even he himself thought the other person was good-looking, let alone Shinichi, who had a soft spot for Haruhi Hina.

"How is Mr. Murata doing these days? Is his health alright?"

Haruhi Hina nodded, "Everything's fine. Daddy's still very healthy."

"Yeah, he seems to be only in his fifties, still a young man." She sighed. "Since he asked, just say whatever you want. Actually, nothing much has happened to me recently, I just live like this every day."

Rena Kitagawa hesitated for a moment before asking the question she wanted to ask. She didn't really have much to say about her father, as long as he was healthy: "Did Shinichi visit you a month ago?"

Haruhi Hina was stunned, realizing what she meant by "a month ago," and put down her cup: "Yes, Shinichi told me about his relationship with Aoki Akemi, and I wished them well."

"bless?"

Haruhi Hina didn't intend to hide it, and lowered her eyes helplessly, saying, "I gave my blessings while crying. Rena-san knows that my personality is quite different from yours, and I'm really not that strong when facing Shinichi."

Rena Kitagawa didn't answer, because she wasn't exactly tough in front of Shinichi either, and continued to ask, "Do you still like Shinichi?"

Are you still planning to win him back?

Haruhi Hina smiled inexplicably, straightened her skirt, and said honestly, "I still like him. I might like him like this for the rest of my life. After all, many unforgettable things have happened between us. Even though he is now dating Akemi, it's not realistic to expect me to forget him."

"You're quite honest."

Haruhi Hina smiled at the other person, her expression softening: "Mainly, I definitely can't hide it from you, Reina. Lying is pointless, and besides, I'm really not good at lying. Every time I talk to Shinichi..."

Rena Kitagawa interjected, "Just say Shinichi directly. There's no need to keep calling him 'Shinichi-kun.' At a time like this, why bother with such a respectful title in front of me? Shinichi isn't here anyway, and you two have no chance with each other."

Haruhi Hina hesitated for a moment, then nodded, "Alright, since Rena said so, I'll call him Shinichi too. As for your question about whether I'll try to win him back, I don't think so." She took a deep breath and sighed, "Although I will always love Shinichi, since he has made his choice, I won't ruin his happiness. I will always wish them well."

"What if he breaks up with Aoki Akemi? Would you still pursue him?"

Haruhi Hina was surprised, but she didn't hesitate at all, and even said with great certainty: "Yes, if I were given another chance, I would definitely try my best to win them back. And... actually, even though I say I wish them well, sometimes I can't help but imagine that Shinichi has broken up again. I've become a lot more selfish than before, and I always have a lot of selfish thoughts."

Kitagawa Rena never expected that this woman had changed; she was much more frank than before.

She leaned back on the sofa, her tone softening slightly: "This isn't selfishness, it's just human nature. Like me, I also think about how great it would be if they could break up, even though it seems unlikely." She looked at the chilly watermelon juice and still chose to drink it.

The cold front hit my stomach and intestines directly.

She continued, "I suddenly feel like we have a lot to talk about. I've never asked you before, what was the reason you broke up with Shin-ichi? Although I have a rough idea, is it really what I think? You weren't trying to set me up with Shin-ichi, were you?"

At this point, Haruhi Hina laughed self-deprecatingly, her eyes filled with intense regret. This was the stupidest thing she had ever done in her life, looking back now.

Of course, there's a second stupid thing to do: why did it take a whole month before you thought about making amends? You would have had a chance if you had apologized earlier within that month.

"Yes, that's true."

Rena Kitagawa took a deep breath, finding it utterly absurd: "So, there really are people who can push the person they like onto someone else? Is this something a human being could do?"

Haruhi Hina bit her lip, her face full of regret: "It's not true, but my state of mind back then was different from now. Anyway, it was all a series of unfortunate events, but there's no going back now."

The two were silent for a moment. Haruhi Hina adjusted her mood and didn't beat around the bush, because lying to Reina was useless.

She really can't learn to lie.

"Rena, can we become sisters? Like, really close friends, like best friends?"

"Huh?" Kitagawa Rena hadn't expected her to utter such a bizarre question: "What did you say?!"

Haruhi Hina was very sincere: "It's true! If you'd like, I'm pretty bored at home anyway, how about you come stay at my place? We can keep each other company? I'm sure I won't be away for a long time during summer vacation, right?"

Rena Kitagawa frowned deeply: "Why would you say something like that to me? How could I possibly agree to that..."

After a while, Kitagawa Rena packed her things and moved in with Kasuga Hina.

Haruhi Hina couldn't help but laugh on the way, because she hadn't expected that just half an hour ago she would change her mind immediately after saying "How could I possibly agree?" and add, "No, maybe it really is possible."

The two walked side by side on the road, with Haruhi Hina carrying her schoolbag.

Rena also brought the simple daily necessities she was going to stay in, and said with a haughty look, "Don't overthink it, I'm just too bored. It's definitely impossible for us to become sisters, but... we can be friends."

The reason she agreed was because Rena Kitagawa was very curious about what Haruna Kasuga's life was like and why she could capture Shinichi Kitagawa's heart so well. Was it really because of her face and her kind and gentle heart?

Rena felt that she was also very kind; otherwise, how could she tolerate Shinichi dating Aoki Akemi?

There might be something about this woman that she doesn't know about, and she wants to explore those undiscovered things in order to win back her beloved brother.
