Douluo Continent, Reborn: Yuhao and the Silver Dragon Keep Their Appointment
Chapter 14 reveals clues
After an unknown amount of time, Na'er fell into a deep sleep in Huo Yuhao's arms, her hands tightly gripping his clothes, her little head resting against his chest, her little mouth slightly open, and clear drool flowing from the corner of her mouth.
The soul-guiding lamp emitted a faint yellow light, swaying precariously in the darkness. The surrounding air was free of the stench of decay, perhaps because of Na'er's presence, which had finally brought some ventilation. The abducted children nearby slowly closed their eyes and drifted off to sleep.
Huo Yuhao couldn't sleep; the eerie atmosphere made it impossible for him to drift off. He carefully recalled the thugs' words, and the more he thought about it, the more his scalp tingled. It seemed he was destined to be either sold or dissected for his organs. Despite the cool air, a layer of cold sweat silently broke out on his back. He looked down at the sleeping Na'er and couldn't help but find it amusing. This little girl seemed fearless, except for the thought of being without him. Seeing her small hands tightly gripping his clothes and the drool at the corner of her mouth, he could only silently adjust his position to make her more comfortable, slowly resting his chin on her little head and slowly closing his eyes…
As the first hint of dawn appeared on the horizon, sunlight slowly streamed in from afar. Na'er was the first to wake up. She groggily opened her eyes, blinked her purple pupils, and noticed Huo Yuhao pressing his head against hers. She chuckled softly. She noticed his chest was damp and then saw a trickle of drool at the corner of her mouth. Only then did she belatedly realize that she had been drooling all night, wetting Huo Yuhao's clothes. She hurriedly wiped it with her small hands, but this startled Huo Yuhao, who was already in a light sleep.
Huo Yuhao yawned, and seeing Na'er's flustered appearance and feeling the wet touch on his chest, he couldn't help but smile, a hint of doting flashing in his icy blue eyes. However, he felt aches all over his body, frowned, and then carried Na'er to the side, stood up, and stretched.
He then looked around again. The darkness of yesterday was gone, and some light was shining in from the outside. His eyesight was excellent, and he easily saw an iron gate outside. He looked at the children who, like him, had iron balls chained to their ankles. They were huddled in corners, none of them daring to speak, and all of them bore some scars, forming a stark contrast with Huo Yuhao and Na'er.
Huo Yuhao looked at the iron chains binding his ankles, slowly crouched down, grasped the edge of the chains near his ankles with both hands, and pulled hard. A small crack appeared in the chains. Huo Yuhao's eyes flashed, then he pulled again, and with a snap, the chain broke. He thought to himself, "How can the material be so poor? It broke with just a pull." Huo Yuhao moved his feet, then looked at the others and whispered, "Do you want to escape?"
Some people were stunned by Huo Yuhao's actions. One of them came over and asked, "Hey, big brother, could you break mine too? We can figure out a way to escape together."
Huo Yuhao looked up at him and found that he was a head taller than him, quite fleshy, and his arms were thicker than his own—clearly a large fat man. He squatted down speechlessly, grabbed the iron chain with both hands, and with a pull, it snapped again.
The fat man jumped up with joy and screamed, "Big brother, you're so strong! I tried everything I could the other day and couldn't make a single change!"
Huo Yuhao was a little surprised. Could it really be because he was born with superhuman strength? He touched his forehead and whispered, "Shh, don't be so loud. I guess I'm just naturally strong..."
He glanced at the children around him; they had all come over, looking at him with pleading eyes. Huo Yuhao chuckled dryly, "Leave them all to me." With that, he took three quick steps and easily broke the chains binding the children. The children thanked him profusely.
Huo Yuhao wiped the fine sweat from his brow, looked around, and noticed a girl huddled in a corner, seemingly still sobbing. He frowned; he had seen the obvious wound on her ankle. Then he looked at the group behind him, who had huddled together, discussing how to escape.
Huo Yuhao asked, "Do you have any disinfectant or anything like that?"
The fat man said, "How could we possibly carry disinfectant with us normally? Besides, most of us were probably kidnapped when our parents weren't around."
Suddenly, someone reached out a hand, holding a small bottle of medicine, and said, "Brother, I have a bottle of medicine here, but it might be a bit too strong for your nerves. You see..."
Huo Yuhao sighed softly, then took the bottle of medicine and walked towards the girl.
Meanwhile, Na'er, in another corner, panicked instantly. She saw her brother put her aside and then not look at her again, and hadn't said a word to her since waking up. She assumed he was angry that she was drooling, so she could only huddle in the corner waiting for Huo Yuhao to return. But first, she saw Huo Yuhao chatting with others and helping them clear the prison balls from their feet. She had initially breathed a sigh of relief, but now she saw Huo Yuhao walk straight towards a girl.
There weren't many people in this huge iron cage, only eight in total, including Na'er and another girl. When Na'er saw him walk towards the other girls, she instantly panicked. Her hands gripped the hem of her clothes tightly, her fingers turning slightly white, and her face was filled with terror.
Huo Yuhao walked up to the girl, bent down to look at her, and noticed that she looked rather pale, but was still conscious, which relieved him. The girl was about six years old, not particularly beautiful, but her bright, large black eyes were exceptionally striking.
When the girl saw him coming, she quickly wiped away the tears in her eyes and said in a nasal voice, "Can you take me out to find my mom and dad? Please."
Huo Yuhao said softly, "I'll try my best. If you don't mind, put your foot out for me, and I'll use some medicine to clean your wound."
Upon hearing this, the girl gently extended her fair, small foot. A bloody, mangled wound lay on her left foot, the metal ring still firmly clamped to it. Huo Yuhao sighed softly upon seeing this and said, "It might hurt a little in a moment. If you can bear it, then bear it; if you can't, then scream."
The girl looked at his serious expression, trembled a few times, and then nodded, placing her left foot in his palm.
Huo Yuhao first crouched down, then said to the person behind him, "Keep an eye on the wind for me." After receiving a response, he first forcefully broke the iron chains binding the girl, then placed her small feet in his arms, gripping both sides of the iron ring with his hands, his thumbs pressing against the inside, accidentally touching her wound. Before the girl could cry out, the veins in his hands instantly bulged, and with a snap, the iron ring was broken in two.
He quickly poured the medicine onto her ankle, and a slight hissing sound rang out, indicating the pain. The girl didn't cry out; instead, she hugged Huo Yuhao's waist and bit his arm hard.
Huo Yuhao ignored her, quickly took out a strip of cloth torn from his clothes, and instantly tied the wound on her ankle before patting the girl.
The girl felt the pain lessen and realized she was hugging him. Her face instantly turned bright red, and when she saw her soft, white feet still in his arms, her face turned even redder.
Huo Yuhao noticed a bite mark on his hand, which was still painful. He didn't say anything, but simply asked, "Are you feeling better?"
The girl nodded blankly, then gently pulled her foot out, her voice tinged with shyness: "Much better, thank you for helping me. Um... I'm sorry, it really hurt just now, I hope I didn't bite you?"
Huo Yuhao waved his hand and said, "It's nothing. The wound on your ankle has been disinfected, and you should be fine for a while."
He then stood up, clapped his hands lightly, and said, "Once we escape, everything will be fine."
Suddenly, he felt a chill run down his spine. In the corner, Na'er's purple eyes, usually gentle, were now icy cold, a strange smile playing on her lips. She murmured incoherently, "Brother, don't you want me anymore? If I make that woman disappear, will this situation stop? Then will you only have eyes for me?"
