You on the other side of time

Chapter 30 I Come From the Future

This statement clearly startled Song Wanxi.

She had always been seen as a composed academic star, but Si Yang's words were so contrary to common sense and pushed the boundaries of understanding. She froze on the spot, not knowing how to respond. But when she met Si Yang's extremely serious gaze, she inexplicably became certain that he was not joking at all.

Si Yang had already made up his mind.

If Song Wanxi didn't believe him, he would stop immediately and not explain anything further, so as not to cause her any more trouble. But if she trusted him even a little, he would take the gamble and tell her the story from several months later, bit by bit. After all, there were still many things that required her cooperation and help, so he might as well go all in.

After all, even if he wanted to hide his thoughts and subtly try to get Song Wanxi to do something, he couldn't bear to see her looking so lost and helpless. So he decided to lay all his worries bare at once, accepting whatever fate brought, whether it worked or not. If it didn't work, he would think of another way.

The air seemed to freeze for a few minutes. Si Yang watched as Song Wanxi sat helplessly in front of him, and suddenly felt a pang of regret. If someone else had told him this, he would probably have thought they were talking nonsense, or even that they were crazy.

"That's outrageous! So, from what point in the future did you come here?"

Si Yang was startled by Song Wanxi's sudden and vivid language.

"I thought this kind of scene only happened in novels, but I never thought I would actually witness it with my own eyes..." Song Wanxi's eyes brightened again. In Si Yang's eyes, that shimmering light was like a flame of hope igniting for his future.

"To be precise, I'm from March 9th of next year..."

Si Yang slowed his tone and told her in great detail what had happened in the past few months. He had kept these things, which others might see as stories, to himself for too long. They felt like a heavy stone pressing on his heart, making it hard for him to breathe.

"This..." Song Wanxi was stunned again after hearing this. She was very smart and immediately understood why Si Yang was so obsessed with landlords, renting, moving... She used to think that she was a very optimistic and strong person, and that all the unpleasant things in life were just thorns on her road to success. But she did not expect that someone else was also carrying the same pressure.

"Do you believe what I'm saying?" Seeing that she had been silent for too long, Si Yang couldn't help but break the silence.

"I believe you. Your sister is a good person, and you must be a good person too," Song Wanxi replied decisively, without the slightest hesitation.

Then, she told Si Yang that ever since she met Si Chuying, Si Chuying would always bring her various books, notebooks, and pens—her favorite archaeology textbooks, blank notebooks, and smooth pens. Si Chuying told her that she had too many at home, and they were just sitting there unused, but it would be a waste to throw them away. But Song Wanxi knew that Si Chuying was saying this on purpose to help her and to protect her self-esteem.

Si Yang was taken aback. No wonder his notebook and pen kept disappearing mysteriously. Si Chuying always smiled mysteriously, leaving him completely baffled. It turned out she had been using them to curry favor. Xu Qingwan would also occasionally mention that her books were missing, but she figured no one would steal such dry and boring books; she probably just couldn't remember where she had put them.

But none of that matters. The important thing is the sentence that struck him deeply: "I believe you must be a good person."

Si Yang, a grown man, was almost moved to tears by those words. You have to understand that in the correct timeline, he was a "murder suspect." He couldn't even be a normal person, let alone a good person.

At a time when everyone was avoiding him, he felt like he was fighting alone, and at one point, he didn't dare to tell anyone about what he had been going through.

So this "good person" is too heavy a burden, so heavy that he can hardly bear it.

"Are you alright? If there's anything I can do to help, just let me know."

The two had been chatting for quite a while without realizing it. It wasn't that she wanted to send Si Yang away, but she had an interview at the Jinchuan Museum at noon. She had tried countless times, and despite her academic prowess, she didn't know why explaining those lines was so difficult.

When giving presentations, she always has her own ideas, which has caused her to fail part-time job interviews, something she has recently regretted.

"If you had money, would you consider moving?" Si Yang knew this was a selfish question, but since they had already gone this far, there was no need to hide anything.

"Actually, I think it's okay to consider it now. After all, constantly troubling the community isn't a good thing." Song Wanxi paused. "I'll try harder to save some money. Because I just paid my tuition..."

As she spoke, the tips of her ears involuntarily began to burn.

Si Yang knew, of course, that Song Wanxi had said those things because of him, and her understanding made him suddenly feel a little sorry for her. After all, for someone like him with a "dark future," being trusted was already a great honor, and her words were undoubtedly an attempt to help him.

"I'm a bit slow. I haven't been able to get a part-time job at the museum. It only pays 100 yuan an hour for a guided tour. I wish I could have gotten the job sooner."

Song Wanxi sighed, her words filled with regret.

"Don't feel guilty. Actually, I'm fine too. Let things take their course," Si Yang forced a smile. In a way, they were the same kind of people; she was trying to live, and so was he.

"I have to go out... I have to go to my museum interview." Song Wanxi's cheeks turned red as she said this. She was afraid that Si Yang would misunderstand and think that she was telling him to leave. She really didn't want to miss the interview, otherwise she would have to wait until the weekend.

"Well, I also have something to do, so I'll be going too." Si Yang didn't think much of it. He just had someone else to confide in. He thought of everything he could do, even the most hopeful methods, and left the rest to fate.

As Si Yang reached the door, Tangyuan on the sofa slowly followed him to within a meter. In Tangyuan's eyes, Si Yang felt he saw a familiar helplessness. They say cats are supernatural creatures; could it be that it saw its own tragic future, one it couldn't change?

He smiled bitterly to himself, but appeared calm and collected on the surface.

Song Wanxi's clear voice came from behind her. She stood by the door and waved vigorously at him, "Senior Siyang, you can definitely handle your own affairs. Don't give up. According to Song Wanxi's Nth Law, good people will always be rewarded."

Si Yang turned around, looked at Song Wanxi waving vigorously at him from behind, and slowly nodded.
