Ice and Fire: Conquering the World Starting from the Wall

Chapter 35 "Broken Leg" Colin

This was Lynn's first time fighting someone, and the result was pretty good, giving him a clear understanding of his own abilities.

As for Jon Snow, who harbored ulterior motives, he did not intend to deal with him for the time being, and let Tormund keep an eye on him.

After all, it's hard to quantify or explicitly state the murderous intent in someone's eyes, and he can't really cause any big trouble anyway.

Lynn was just starting high school at that age, so it was only to give Mans face.

The next day, Colin, who had a severed hand, finally woke up.

His chainmail protected him from two deadly arrows to the chest and abdomen, preventing the arrows from damaging his internal organs;

The sword wound to the neck looked terrifying, but it only caused blood loss and did not sever the artery;

Ironically, it was a seemingly non-fatal leg injury that nearly cost him his life. The wolf's bite caused a severe infection, and the forest witch had to amputate two-thirds of his body below the knee to barely keep him alive.

He'll probably have to change his name to "Severed Hand + Severed Leg" now.

Out of curiosity, Lynn went to see him, since he was a prisoner he had personally ordered to be captured alive and brought back along the way; he originally only wanted Jon Snow.

If it weren't for Lynn's orders, the Freemen would have torn him to pieces long ago.

But this ranger from Shadow Tower clearly showed no gratitude toward his savior.

"Child of the Stars".

He addressed Lynn in a detached tone; the massive blood loss and severe infection in his leg had almost drained him of his life force, leaving him completely listless.

Lynn also liked to speak in this detached tone, but that was to maintain his persona. However, he could sense that Colin was different; Colin was genuinely indifferent to everything.

"I heard that Mans came to persuade you to surrender?" Lynn asked.

"A waste of time," the man with the severed hand uttered, "You should have killed me."

Lynn had a thought, and said calmly:

"Killing you would require some effort to burn your body, but saving you would give me an extra sword to deal with the White Walkers."

Colin gently lifted his left leg, which had lost a portion of its length.

"I'm afraid we'll just have to waste some food from now on."

Lynn said with a smile:

"If you can master left-handed swordsmanship, losing a leg is nothing. Your knee is still there, so making a prosthetic leg won't be difficult."

He then changed the subject:

"I have no ill will toward the Night's Watch, or rather, I have no ill will toward anyone except the dead and those who are destined to die."

"You already know about the resurgence of the White Walkers. There is no place for the living to survive beyond the Wall, so I will definitely take the Wall. Neither your old nor your new gods can stop me."

At this point, Lynn let out a low, threatening growl.

"Dragons...cannot cross the Great Wall."

As Colin spoke, he turned his head, and this was the first time he had looked Lynn directly in the eyes.

Lynn felt that those eyes were unfathomable. He had only read about such eyes in books before, but had never experienced them in person.

His behavior was completely different from the bluster of "Raven Hunter" Afin; he genuinely ignored the dragon.

Lynn was almost filled with awe. This was the first person he had ever met who had seen a dragon but didn't care at all, and could even use legends from hundreds of years ago to refute it.

This changed Lynn's mindset, which had initially been that he was just casually visiting.

"That story is just an isolated case and doesn't prove anything. Besides, Queen Alexandra never tried flying from north to south."

Lynn casually said:

"If all else fails, we can always go around to Donghaiwang; it's not a problem."

He paused for a moment, giving the other person time to process it.

"You are not stupid. If a free man cannot cross the Wall while he is alive, he will become a dead man. A smart man should know what to choose."

"The savages are ferocious. Let them go, or the North and the Kingdom will never have peace."

Colin responded calmly.

Lynn found it somewhat amusing, and he firmly retorted:

"But most of them have never even seen the Great Wall. Many of them are innocent children and women. You have no right to block them from the frontier and leave them to die with an ice wall."

From the Night's Watch's perspective, they naturally couldn't care less about the wildlings' lives or deaths; this was a huge historical inertia left over from thousands of years of bloody conflict between the two sides.

"Moreover, the long summer is over and the harsh winter is coming. A Great Wall cannot stop the army of the dead."

Imagine, when the Long Night falls, even the seas freeze, the White Walkers have countless paths to take, and the Wall becomes nothing more than a decoration... It's only effective in the summer.

This was something Lynn made up on the spot, but it makes sense.

Logical reasoning is persuasive.

Colin's gray eyes rolled slightly.

"Jon Snow said you're the best ranger since his uncle Benjen Stark, one of you is worth twenty..."

Lynn glanced at the other person's broken leg:

"Okay, now I can probably only hold off nineteen, but I need every single sword I can wield."

Colin was silent for a moment, then cursed without any emotion:

"Jon Snow the Chameleon... They warned me that bastards are born cowards."

Lynn chuckled and said:

"His acting skills are far inferior to yours, and of course, yours aren't much better either."

Colin finally showed an expression. If he hadn't lost too much blood, he might have blushed, but of course, it's highly unlikely he would.

"I admire your courage and spirit of sacrifice, Colin 'One-Handed', but you really shouldn't have entrusted this task to a child with a strong sense of integrity and honor."

A long silence followed until Lynn spoke again.

"I've heard Mance recite the Night's Watch oath, and you and Jon Snow seem like the kind of people who would live up to it. There are probably not many people like you left on the Wall these days."

"Once I conquer the Great Wall, thieves, rapists, murderers, and cowards will kneel and surrender, and you will need to protect the truly upright for me."

"After that, I will restrain the free people and let them take over the Wall and the lands they have given, repair the unguarded fortresses, and at the same time require the seven kingdoms to send supplies to the Wall."

If all goes well, the free people will stay in the old and new territories and not move south; otherwise...

If Mans has had a serious talk with you, then you should know my plan, which is the best way to minimize bloodshed for the living right now.

Lynn stood up as she spoke.

"In a few days, the army of the free people will march toward the Great Wall. If you've thought it through, find a horse and follow the procession."

For someone as determined as Colin, saying too much is useless. Instead of trying to persuade him, it's better to present the facts and let him figure it out himself.

Five days later, the large contingent began to assemble in the lower reaches of the Ru River.

This operation was personally planned by Lynn. At his urging, Mans abandoned the original method of collective action by the free people and instead sent the trained team ahead.

This group numbered approximately 5000, including a thousand Thane warriors, several elite raider squads, a cavalry unit of jack-headed mammoths, over three thousand clan soldiers, and more than twenty giants riding mammoths.

Clan soldiers serve as auxiliary troops and transport teams, ensuring logistical support, and do not participate in combat unless absolutely necessary.

But this was not easy to do. The clan soldiers who were conscripted were initially unwilling to leave their families and go to the Wall first, and the Thane were no exception.

Finally, Lynn personally intervened to finalize the action plan, but even so, Kasa insisted on leaving one-fifth of the warriors to protect the safety of his people.

This is understandable; their people are their roots.
