Davos noticed Lynn's confusion and explained:

"It was Maester Pyros who wrote it for me. He succeeded Maester Cresson as Maester of Dragonstone after Cresson's failed attempt to poison Melisandre. He is a young, upright, talented, and righteous man."

Because of Davos's words, Lynn summoned Maester Pyros.

He is currently severely lacking in domestic affairs talent, and most matters are decided by him on his own, except for matters that can be discussed with Mans.

Fortunately, the savages had no concept of internal affairs, so no problems had ever arisen.

After Sir Davos Seaworth was elevated to Hand of the King, he sought the guidance of Maester Pyros and studied reading and writing under him.

Later, Davos, in order to protect Edric Storm from being sacrificed to R'hllor by Melisandre and King Stannis, planned to smuggle him off Dragonstone.

When Pyros learned of the plan, he decided to help, which earned him the respect of Davos, who had previously disliked Pyros because he had replaced Cresson.

These deeds show that Pyros was not only a standard scholar trained by the Citadel, capable of serving his lord with his extensive knowledge, but also able to maintain his own opinions on key issues, without blind loyalty or obedience. He was truly a talented individual.

Unfortunately, he has sworn allegiance to the Lord of Dragonstone, and the maester will not pledge allegiance to a new master unless control of Dragonstone changes.

Stannis remains the lord of Dragonstone.

Lynn had no way to deal with him, so he arranged for Pyros to accompany Davos on his voyage to provide advice, manage documents and correspondence, and handle the ravens.

Before boarding the ship, Davos solemnly handed over his son Davon as a hostage to Lynn to show that he had no ulterior motives.

Devon Seaworth is the eldest living son of Devon.

Davos originally had seven sons, of whom the eldest to the fourth died at the Blackwater River, while the two younger ones lived with their mother at the castle in Windfury Point.

Davenport is twelve years old and one of the survivors of the Battle of Blackwater who were taken away by the Rhys. Since then, he has served as Stannis's squire and studied writing on Dragonstone with Edric Storm and Shireen Baratheon.

Because Melisandre didn't want Davos to lose another son, she asked Davenport to stay with Shireen at Hardhome when Stannis marched on the Wildlings.

Offering children as hostages to the victors was common in Westeros; they were euphemistically called adopted children, but were essentially still hostages.

Lynn naturally wouldn't refuse such a sincere offer.

He also showed his goodwill by allowing Devon to continue staying by Shirin's side.

The reason he did this was that he felt something was off about the jester called "Patchface," who always seemed a bit neurotic.

Every time he saw Lynn, the jester would act as if he had seen a ghost, trembling all over and muttering syllables that no one could understand.

Lynn wanted Shirin to stay away from Patchface, or at least reduce contact with him. Devon, who was the same age, was a good alternative and playmate.
