……

"Any other questions?" Si Ye asked calmly. "If not, it's my turn next."

Qi Lin tensed up immediately, but still mustered her courage and asked again, "What was that blue and white mecha monster that attacked us on Airport Road last night? Was it also an alien?"

"For Earthlings, it is. For me, it is too," Si Ye answered truthfully. "However, I've only just arrived here and know nothing about that kind of creature, so I can't provide you with more information. The woman who came to see you last night on behalf of your authorities should know more than I do."

Qi Lin paused for a moment, silently memorizing this information, then nodded: "I've finished asking my questions for now."

"Very good." Si Ye nodded slightly. "Now it's my turn to ask a question. I have a small favor to ask you."

As he spoke, he opened his right hand. After a very faint flash of light, a small, transparent glass tube appeared out of thin air in his palm.

This thing looks somewhat like a blood-drawing syringe from a hospital, but its streamlined metal structure and the markings that emit a faint blue light clearly indicate that it is some kind of high-tech artifact.

Of course, this was actually just a little gadget that Si Ye casually created using his ability to reconstruct matter.

"Could you draw a vial of blood from me?" Si Ye asked.

Qi Lin was stunned.

Her incredibly active brain instantly went out of control again, with all sorts of science fiction and horror scenarios playing out in turn: aliens extracting Earthling genes to create a clone army? Or are they researching biochemical viruses targeting Earthlings in preparation for destroying all of humanity?

"Stop having those illogical, paranoid delusions."

Si Ye had to speak up again to interrupt her inner monologue, "I only discovered through scanning that your physical data is significantly different from that of ordinary Earthlings. As a scholar, I simply wanted to understand the specifics."

Seeing Qi Lin's wary look, he added, "Drawing a small amount of blood will not cause you any real harm; it's just like going to the hospital for a routine check-up."

Despite what Si Ye said, Qi Lin's eyes were still filled with worry and vigilance.

Si Ye saw her concerns and conceded, "To dispel your doubts, I can complete the blood component analysis and examination right in front of you."

Qi Lin was stunned for a moment: "Right in front of me?"

She glanced at the technologically advanced little tube in Si Ye's hand, then at Si Ye's expressionless face.

Driven by a subtle curiosity, coupled with the subconscious fear that "if I don't agree, this terrifying alien might turn around and rob me outright," Qi Lin finally gritted her teeth, lifted the sleeve of her bear-patterned pajamas, and revealed her fair wrist.

"Be gentle..." she muttered softly, turning her head away.

Seeing that she was cooperating, Si Ye produced a piece of medical alcohol swab from somewhere and very properly wiped and disinfected the vein on Qi Lin's wrist before attaching the syringe.

Feeling the cool touch on her wrist and the chill of the evaporating alcohol, Qi Lin's expression became somewhat strange.

She stole a glance at Si Ye, who was diligently drawing blood, and couldn't help but mutter to herself: This alien demon king who can destroy the world with one punch... is actually quite polite.

The blood draw went exceptionally smoothly. Si Ye's technique was as precise as that of the most sophisticated medical robot. Even when the needle was pulled out, Qi Lin did not feel any obvious stinging pain.

Si Ye casually picked up a sterile cotton swab and pressed it onto her injection site, then began the genetic testing directly above the coffee table in the living room.

The testing process was extremely simple and crude; in Qi Lin's view, it had completely deviated from the realm of science and was more like performing some kind of dazzling magic.

Si Ye stared silently at the small amount of crimson blood in his hand. The next second, the blood in the syringe seemed to be drawn by some invisible force field, and began to centrifuge and separate at a speed visible to the naked eye, turning into strands of extremely pure blood-red light.

Si Ye casually raised his free left hand and waved it lightly in mid-air.

"Buzz—"

With a soft buzzing sound of energy, a huge three-dimensional holographic projection emitting a faint blue light instantly unfolded in the small studio apartment.

It was an extremely large and complex double helix gene chain structure, with countless points of light and data streams rapidly shuttling and recombinating within it, its level of detail far exceeding the crude special effects modeling in Earth's science fiction movies.

Qi Lin's eyes widened, and she didn't even notice the cotton swab she was pressing on her wrist fall to the ground. She was completely stunned by the dreamlike and shocking scene before her.

"A very interesting genetic structure."

Si Ye's crimson eyes reflected the pulsating data streams. "Your genetic code has been artificially modified extensively and with extreme precision. Furthermore, many special functional fragments have been forcibly embedded into this main chain."

Qi Lin swallowed hard. "Wh...what do you mean?"

"These implanted special fragments, in most cases, are in a locked 'recessive gene' state," Si Ye explained patiently, pointing to several dim nodes in the projection. "But even so, they still maintain some extremely weak dominant expression. This is why your physical fitness is far superior to that of ordinary Earthlings. Your bone density, muscle fiber toughness, nerve reflex speed, and even your brain's information processing capabilities have all been comprehensively enhanced."

Qi Lin was completely confused.

Seeing her bewildered expression, Si Ye frowned slightly, abandoning the use of dry technical jargon, and tried to explain in language she could understand:

"To put it simply, your physical foundation is much stronger than you realize. But the prerequisite is that you need to find a 'key' to fully activate these special dominant genes that are in a dormant state."

Siye paused, "Moreover, this level of gene chimerism could never have been formed through natural evolution; it's purely the result of artificial modification. In other words, there must have been individuals from some advanced foreign civilization in your ancestral bloodline. These modified genes have been passed down through generations, and they remain silently hidden within you."

Dominant genes, recessive genes...

Although Qi Lin knew nothing about advanced space technology, she still remembered the basic knowledge from her high school biology textbook. She barely managed to digest these shocking remarks when a thought suddenly flashed through her mind.

"Since you know about these things..." Qi Lin raised her head, looking intently at the man before her, a mixture of expectation and probing, "Then can you help me... activate it?"

Si Ye glanced at her and said without hesitation, "Okay."

Before Qi Lin could even prepare herself, a deep and mysterious dark purple light suddenly flashed in Si Ye's palm. The light, as if alive, instantly entered Qi Lin's brow.

"It's over," Si Ye said calmly, lowering his hand.

Qi Lin sat on the sofa with a blank expression, even touching her forehead and body in a daze.

"That's...it's over?" Qi Lin's eyes widened. "But why didn't I feel anything? Didn't the movies say that super gene awakening involves some kind of painful transformation, or a feeling of being filled with power and about to explode?"

"That's illogical literary embellishment."

Si Ye looked at her with a helpless expression, as if she were illiterate, and explained, "I just inputted a low-level command to unlock the 'locks' on your recessive genes. But gene expression and recombination require an objective physiological process."

"It's like if a person on Earth had a 'baldness gene' that was suddenly activated one day, their hair would not fall out immediately in the next second, but would need to go through a process of hair follicle shrinkage over several months or even several years."

"Bald...bald head?!"

Qi Lin only caught those two words. Her initial anticipation vanished instantly, and she instinctively covered her thick, high ponytail, her voice trembling: "I'm going bald?!"

"..."

Faced with this bizarre brain circuitry, even the well-informed chief scientist, Si Ye, felt a bit speechless.

"It's just a metaphor," Si Ye sighed. "You won't go bald."

"Those special recessive genes in your body need enough time to truly express themselves and fully integrate into your body system. Moreover, during this slow transformation process, you need to carry out targeted development to match them."

"For example, your genes may make your body extremely strong, but you still need to adapt to and control this power through high-intensity training; your brain may think at an incredibly fast pace, but you also need to undergo corresponding logical thinking training."

Si Ye picked up the glass of lukewarm water on the table that he hadn't touched and took a sip.

"To put it bluntly, your special genes simply greatly increase the 'upper limit' of your abilities as a living being. It's a ticket to a higher dimension, not some kind of magic that lets you ascend to the heavens. You still have to walk your own path."
