Huayu: I was immediately ensnared by Jing Tian as soon as I entered the industry.

Chapter 101: Defeated by Shuangzi once again.

Wang Xuan visited Lionsgate again and was once again warmly welcomed.

Their attitude towards Wang Xuan will not change until the results of the [human] assessment are released.

"Wang, congratulations on wrapping up filming. I heard it's a fantastic art film."

Wang Xuan shook hands with Wen Ziren: "Thank you for the compliment."

"Follow me, the Lionsgate guys are already waiting."

Hearing this, Wang Xuan asked curiously, "Director Wen, aren't you a contracted director with Lionsgate?"

James Wan smiled and shook his head: "Of course not, it's a single-project director contract."

Wang Xuan nodded and noted down the information.

The most successful Chinese director in Hollywood is not Ang Lee, who won an Oscar for Best Director, but James Wan.

【Dead Silence】【Insidious】【The Conjuring】—all are works he directed, making him a well-deserved master of horror films.

But casting him in horror movies would be a complete waste of his talent.

His original film, "Furious 7," grossed $15 billion worldwide.

If the success of the series was due to the popularity of the film franchise, then Aquaman was a genuine achievement. A brand new DC superhero, he took on the role of director when other directors dared not, and the film grossed $11 billion worldwide.

If possible, Wang Xuan wanted to recruit him and groom him to be the spokesperson for Xuanyuan Pictures.

There were already about ten people in the screening room, mostly middle-aged white men.

"Welcome, Your Majesty. The time has come to test your results."

Wang Xuan smiled and said, "I hope you won't disappoint me."

Before the movie started, Lionsgate handed us a document listing the various expenses for "humanity".

The production cost was two million, and with subsequent promotional expenses, the actual expenditure for this film was just over five million.

Horror films have a stable audience, so promotion on websites and related platforms is sufficient, and posters can be hung at the entrance of theaters when they are released. Actors generally do not need to conduct offline promotional tours.

The expenses were all reasonable, and there was no suspicion of falsifying accounts. Wang Xuan handed the documents back and praised, "A very detailed report, making everything clear at a glance."

"Then let's watch the video."

Wang Xuan nodded, leaned back in his chair, and looked relaxed.

As the movie begins, the Lionsgate logo appears, with the Lionsgate abbreviation in black letters on a white background.

Next is the logo of Xuanyuan Pictures, featuring a figure in pure black wearing a cowboy hat, leaning on a cane, and gliding in the moonwalk.

Wang Xuan couldn't bear to look; if he wasn't mistaken, it was Frank's shadow.

He's quite a show-off.

Frank, standing next to him, was already sweating profusely; he had forgotten to change the factory logo.

He forced a smile and said, "Boss, wouldn't it be more suitable to change this factory logo to yours?"

"We'll talk about it later, let's watch the movie first."

The story is set in North America in 2025, where overpopulation and escalating social conflicts have led to legislation enacted by the new president.

每年3月21日19时至次日7时的12个小时为合法杀戮时间。

The male protagonist's family, overflowing with compassion, rescued a homeless man being chased by thugs, which led to them being surrounded and attacked by a large group of attackers. Ultimately, the male and female protagonists sacrificed their lives.

At the end of the movie, the Chinese-American daughter, played by Chai Biyun, and her brother survived until the killing ended.

"This shouldn't be a B-movie; it should be a story about the examination of human nature, criticizing the social system—"

James Wan shared his understanding of film, his eyes filled with admiration.

Other people's horror films, including the ones he directed, were just scary, nothing but scary. But the scripts Wang Xuan provided were different.

On the surface, it's a violent action thriller, but it actually addresses real-world issues such as class conflict, the legalization of violence, and systemic purges, using a horror film shell to conceal a serious core.

No wonder he won the Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival; his cultural background is incredibly solid.

"What are the release arrangements?" Wang Xuan asked.

"It will be released nationwide on Friday, with 1240 screens on opening day. The number of screens will be adjusted based on reviews and box office performance."

"What about overseas markets?"

Wang Xuan frowned and asked.

He values Lionsgate's overseas distribution network more, as its global box office revenue is what makes it so desirable.

"It depends on the film's box office performance. If it meets expectations, it will be released in overseas markets in two weeks at the latest."

Wang Xuan nodded, offering no objection.

Domestically, news has been reported that filming for "Green Book" has wrapped up.

Meanwhile, the news that "Human" was about to be released was posted on the Sina blog homepage, along with a picture of the movie poster.

The industry is paying close attention, and many people are quite disappointed to learn that the film cannot be imported.

At this moment, a third-year female student looked particularly disappointed, her face long and gloomy.

She was so resentful that she would slap any passing dog.

"Shuangzi, what are you looking at? Are you happy right now?"

Shuangzi was a little confused. She had just been passing by and hadn't said anything, yet Chai Biyun was yelling at her like she was on fire.

She was not one to be trifled with and immediately retorted.

"I'm so happy it's me, isn't that right?"

Seeing Shuangzi's anger, a hint of mockery flashed in Chai Biyun's eyes: "You're probably hoping the movie won't be released in China, afraid that my brilliant performance will dazzle you, aren't you?"

Let me tell you, even if it can't be shown domestically, it can still be shown in other countries and regions around the world. What should I do if I encounter crazy fans while traveling abroad?

As she spoke, Chai Biyun pulled out a saved movie poster from her photo album and waved it in front of Shuangzi.

A face wearing a skull mask looks down at the protagonist James and his family, and Chai Biyun's terrified expression is clearly visible in the poster.

"What's there to be so smug about? What if the box office flops—"

Before Shuangzi could even utter the word "street," she quickly covered her mouth.

Chai Biyun seized on the inappropriateness in Shuangzi's words and pointed her finger at her, accusing her: "Oh, you're cursing Brother Xuan's movie to flop."

"I didn't, don't accuse me falsely."

"You just said that when Brother Xuan comes back, I'm going to tell him, let's see if you can still pretend like this."

Chai Biyun felt a sense of satisfaction, as if she had caught Shuangzi red-handed, and smiled smugly.

Shuangzi suddenly laughed, staring intently at Chai Biyun, who felt very uncomfortable under her gaze.

"What are you laughing at? That's ridiculous."

"You call him 'Brother Xuan' quite affectionately. I'll tell Jing Tian and see what she thinks."

"My name is ————"

Chai Biyun was completely stunned. Was it the burden of being called "younger sister," or...?

Seeing Shuangzi's smug expression, she couldn't back down.

"Then tell Tian Tian, she knows. She even informed me about Hollywood."

Seeing Shuangzi's skepticism, Chai Biyun lowered her stance: "If you don't tell me, I won't tell Wang Xuan what you just said."

"Hey, why aren't you calling me Brother Xuan anymore?" Shuangzi teased with a smile.

"I can yell if I want, it's none of your business."

Chai Biyun rolled her eyes, sulking, and swung her long legs away.

Every time she tried to cause trouble for Shuangzi, she failed miserably, which infuriated her.
