Huayu: I was immediately ensnared by Jing Tian as soon as I entered the industry.

Chapter 89 Two press conferences sent the domestic film and television industry into a frenzy

Back at the hotel, Wang Xuan didn't rest but instead checked the US stock market.

The shadow of a bear market has not yet dissipated in the US stock market following the financial crisis, and the market is like a stagnant pool.

Now is the perfect time to buy at the bottom.

Tech stocks are worth holding for the long term, such as Apple, Google, Amazon, Nvidia, and Netflix, which has a market capitalization of less than $30 billion and whose business is still mainly DVD rental, with its streaming transformation just beginning.

The only pity is that Wang Xuan only has a little over ten million US dollars at his disposal.

A certain amount of cash needs to be reserved in the account for future acquisitions and investments.

Wang Xuan's mouth watered as he looked at those high-quality stocks.

Their desire to make a lot of money quickly reached its peak, and they were eager to have "Humanity" released immediately.

Missing this opportunity to buy at the bottom is no different from losing money.

The next day, Wang Xuan returned to Lionsgate and was taken aback by the scene before him. Many media outlets were present to witness the signing ceremony.

Under the flash of camera lights, Wang Xuan and Lionsgate executives smiled and shook hands with each other for the media to take pictures.

Jim Miller announced the project on the spot: "Lionsgate will collaborate with Berlin Silver Bear winner director Wang Xuan, who will invest in the script for the 'Purge' series, establishing a long-term partnership with Lionsgate —"

It's common knowledge that Lionsgate covets the Chinese market. The co-production "The Forbidden Kingdom" was a trial run, but unfortunately, it didn't suit the tastes of Chinese audiences.

Otherwise, given the film's global box office performance, making a sequel would be no problem at all.

That afternoon, while Wang Xuan was meeting with stockbrokers, Hollywood media outlets were already reporting extensively on his collaboration with Lionsgate.

Lionsgate is taking a different approach, collaborating with a young Berlin Silver Bear winner in an attempt to re-enter the Chinese film market.

"Shocking! A Chinese director's collaboration with Lionsgate has resulted in him receiving 20% of the box office revenue."

"My king, my dear friend, are you going to abandon the cooperation we've agreed upon?"

"Don't get agitated, this won't affect our plans."

Hearing Harvey's excited tone, Wang Xuan smiled and comforted him.

"How could I not be excited? I, Harvey, am your best friend. You have an excellent script; you should be working with Weinstein."

...

Upon hearing this, Wang Xuan couldn't help but complain, "That fatso is really greedy."

I thought Wang Xuan didn't understand Hollywood rules, so I could only work with him.

Seeing the news of signing with Lionsgate, I panicked.

If she wanted, she could easily ditch him and find another company.

"Lionsgate has extensive experience in the horror genre. There's no need to be overly concerned about a low-budget trial project; our collaboration is the most important thing."

Now that they still needed this fatso, Wang Xuan spoke more politely.

"I'm relieved to hear that. Let's sign the contract as soon as possible. I can't wait to see your script."

"Of course, casting can be done first."

Wang Xuan nodded in agreement, stating that he would participate in the investment through a company in collaboration with Harvey.

The next day, Wang Xuan, accompanied by his lawyer, arrived at The Weinstein Company in Beverly Hills, where the offices were lavishly located in one of the manor houses.

"Wang, what do you think of this estate? I bought it last year for a bargain price of $850 million."

Harvey, with a smug look on his face, introduced the villa estate to Wang Xuan.

To be honest, Wang Xuan was actually a little tempted.

This damn capitalism! I've only been here a few days and it already wants to buy this and that.

Desire constantly reminded Wang Xuan that young people should make more money, otherwise they can only look and not afford anything.

"Let's take care of business first."

"Come with me, I've already arranged the signing ceremony, and I've invited the media to witness it."

When Wang Xuan appeared at the signing ceremony, some reporters who had been to Lionsgate the day before thought they were seeing things.

Didn't they just sign with Lionsgate? Why are they collaborating with Weinstein again?

When faced with questions from the media, Harvey's next words provided the answers.

"Director Wang Xuan is a genius. We hit it off immediately in Berlin, so I invited him to Hollywood to make a film—we will be collaborating on an art film, and this year's Oscars are our goal—"

The audience finally understood: this young director wanted to compete for an Oscar.

Many people at the scene were skeptical and wore mocking expressions.

You have to understand, this is Hollywood, where fame and fortune reign supreme.

Unlike those poor slobs in Europe who talk about art all day long but do equally vulgar things.

That evening, Harvey prepared a welcome dinner for Wang Xuan.

It was called a banquet, but it was more like a party.

At first, everyone was very serious, clinking glasses and exchanging toasts. But as the music got more rousing in the second half, some people started to get restless.

Harvey, that fat bastard, had already taken off his shirt and was embracing two blonde, blue-eyed bikini-clad women.

"Your Majesty, you're the star tonight. Don't just sit there, come and join the fun."

As he spoke, the fat man pushed a young woman over.

The girl stumbled and fell into Wang Xuan's arms. Instinctively, Wang Xuan first looked around.

Harvey thought Wang Xuan was worried about being monitored, so he patted his big belly and said, "It's absolutely safe here. You can do whatever you want. Don't be shy."

"You know I'm a loyal person when it comes to love, I need to go back to the hotel now."

Wang Xuan pushed the girl away and left the debauchery without looking back.

Watching the departing figure, the fat man looked on in disbelief, realizing that she had actually resisted the temptation of beauty.

He looked at the blonde, blue-eyed, curvaceous girl in front of him and instantly realized what was going on.

"Next time, let's try with a few Asian beauties."

At this moment, the domestic film and television industry was in an uproar.

The media outlets covering the film have already published extensive reports on it.

"Director Wang Xuan signed a cooperation agreement with Lionsgate, acquiring a 20% share through script investment —"

Lionsgate attaches great importance to this collaboration and considers it one of the most important projects of the year.

"It is understood that director Wang Xuan has the right to recommend actors —"

"Shocking! Director Wang Xuan, who just signed with Lionsgate, has reached another cooperation agreement with Weinstein and will be aiming for this year's Academy Awards."

"Director Wang Xuan shocked Hollywood by signing contracts with two film companies in just two days upon his debut."

The Chinese-language film and television industry was stunned by these two pieces of news.

It's worth noting that while many Chinese actors have ventured into Hollywood, Wang Xuan is unique among Scorpion Papa, holding multiple roles as producer, executive producer, screenwriter, and director.

Once they came to their senses, the film and television companies and actors in the industry went into a frenzy, frantically trying to contact Wang Xuan himself.

They wanted to buy Wang Xuan's 20% stake at a high price, as this was a rare opportunity to expand overseas.

Actors in the industry are even more enthusiastic, as Wang Xuan has the power to recommend actors, which means that those he recommends can go to Hollywood to make movies.

No matter how small the role, once they go out and come back, their value will double.

At this moment, everyone in the film and television industry turned their attention to a girl.

And this girl is on the phone with Wang Xuan.
