Gold Rush Starts in the Bering Sea
Chapter 112: William, the Spectator
"Jason, Jason, wake up!"
The urgent knocking and urging voices woke Jason from his sleep.
Rubbed his eyes and yawned, Jason went to the door.
"Little Hart, you'd better be in trouble," Jason said, his face full of displeasure and his tone sharp.
"Uh..." Little Hart paused, then chuckled awkwardly, "Jason, Angel is back."
"Um?!"
Jason was taken aback and asked in surprise, "You're back? So soon?"
Little Ha nodded: "Yes, he just got back, bringing a bunch of documents. They're in his room right now."
Jason: "...Then why did you call me?"
"Didn't you say last night that we'd start work once Angell got back, and that this time we absolutely had to find a rich mine?" Little Hart smacked his lips twice, then repeated what Jason had said last night.
Jason's eye twitched twice, his eyes narrowed, and he stared intently at Little Hart: "I didn't say anything else last night besides this, did I?"
"No," Little Hart scratched the back of his head, not understanding what Jason meant by that.
"Alright," Jason breathed a heavy sigh of relief and said to Little Hart, "I'll wash up and be there in a bit."
"What's going on?" Little Hart asked, his face full of questions.
Half an hour later, Jason, having finished washing up, took breakfast from the restaurant and went straight to Angell's room.
On the table, a thick stack of documents was neatly arranged. Angell sat in a chair, a map spread out beside him, sketching with a pencil.
"Boss, you're here."
Hearing the door open, Angell looked up and greeted them.
"No, you didn't sleep all night?!" Jason was startled when he saw the thick dark circles under Angel's eyes.
"Boss, let's not talk about that for now. Come and take a look. This is not a good situation." Angell frowned, his face full of worry.
"What's going on?"
Angel pushed the map on the table towards Jason, saying helplessly, "Boss, this is where I marked it earlier, take a look."
Jason was taken aback, and exclaimed in surprise, "So many?!"
"There's nothing we can do. This Mr. William seems to be very wealthy. Based on the terrain and survey results, he has basically bought up all the valuable land in this area," Angell said helplessly, shaking his head.
Pointing to an unmarked location on the map, Jason asked, "What's going on with this area?"
Angell found the documents on the table, handed them to Jason, and said, "This area has also been surveyed, and the conclusion is that mining is not recommended. The results from multiple sampling points are 0.12-0.14 grams per cubic meter, which is below the minimum mining standard."
Jason opened the document and glanced through it briefly. It had some reference value, but he still needed to see it in person.
You can clearly see the gold content of the entire land yourself, which is much more detailed than the data obtained from fixed-point drilling.
"Angol, don't worry about this for now, you should rest." Looking at Angel's dark circles under his eyes, Jason was really afraid that something might happen to him.
They set off yesterday and returned this morning, bringing back so much data. Clearly, Angell had barely rested.
Although Jason also paid money, he's not a capitalist, so there's no need for him to be exploited like this.
"Ha~"
Angell yawned widely, nodded to Jason, and said, "Okay, boss, take these documents back and take a look first. We can discuss them in detail after I rest for a while."
"Okay, you should rest now."
Jason called over Little Hart, who had been waiting outside, to get the documents, and then returned to his room.
He placed the documents on the table, then shrank back, a forced smile on his face, and tentatively asked, "Jason, we're not going to inspect the new mine today, are we?"
"Don't worry, if I say I'll rest for three days, I mean I'll rest for three days," Jason reassured Little Hart, to prevent him from asking about the issue repeatedly.
"Okay, then I'm relieved."
Little Hart shuddered, his eyes instantly brightened, and even the smile on his face returned to normal.
Outside the door, Ada and Corinna were the same.
"Alright, go look at the documents. I'm going out now." Little Hart said, dashing out the door. A few people could still be faintly heard discussing something.
"I was so scared! Who knew Angel was going to be so fast? I thought we weren't going to get a break."
"I'm alright, but my butt can't take it, it's shaking me to death."
"Alright, let's not talk about this anymore. Where are we going later?"
"Of course, let's go!"
······
Inside the room, Jason simply smiled and didn't criticize him too much, after all, it was only human nature.
He flipped through the documents, occasionally making marks on the map with a pen.
William bought a lot of land, mainly around the town. He bought up almost all the land in batches, leaving only a small plot in the southeast corner of the town.
Jason pulled out another map from the documents and compared the two.
Angell brought back a complete set of materials, including not only current topographic maps but also a reconstruction map of the ancient riverbed that is technologically advanced even by today's standards.
In addition, there is remote sensing data, drilling data, and some terrain data.
Jason only glanced at the data regarding the properties that William had already bought, as it wasn't of much use to him.
His primary concern is the unpurchased area in the southeast corner, which he does not recommend mining.
There is a lot of data in this area, even more than in other places. Obviously, in a region surrounded by high-quality placer gold mines, the sudden appearance of such a low-quality area makes everyone feel a bit of luck.
Even I am like that now!
The report is very detailed and contains a lot of data, with several different exploration companies giving their own conclusions.
Some say it's due to the diversion of an ancient river channel, with localized rapids or eddies creating "scour cavities" with excessively high flow rates. Lighter sand and gravel are washed away, while heavier gold particles don't have time to settle and deposit.
Some conclusions suggest a "bottom trap and false bottom," where the bottom is too smooth, the covering clay layer is washed away, and the gold is lost.
In addition, there are conclusions such as "later geological damage", "boulder shielding", and "human intervention".
Regardless of the conclusion, they all point to the same result: there is gold here, but the gold content is very low!
Low doesn't mean non-existent!
Although it's barren, it also means there's gold here!
Moreover, judging from the ancient river channel reconstruction map, this place is clearly within the area through which the ancient river channel flows, and this conclusion is enough for Jason.
Time flew by as Jason flipped through the documents.
For lunch, Jason simply ate a hot dog and drank a cup of coffee at the restaurant before being forced back to his room by the sweltering heat.
Jason was overcome by sleepiness again after being woken up early, so he decided to go back to sleep.
"Boss, when I was shopping in town, I heard that a gold rush team came to town. They're planning to scout out some area over there." The employee said, unable to help but laugh, clearly scoffing at Jason and his team's idea.
"oh?!"
"They're eyeing that piece of land in the southeast corner?!"
William looked surprised and even picked at his ear, as if afraid he had misheard.
"That's right, it's that piece of land in the southeast corner. I heard they're going to check it out in a few days," the employee replied clearly, confirming William's idea.
"Ha~"
William chuckled, leaning back in his chair with his legs crossed and propped up on the table. He said dismissively, "Go ahead and investigate. If there were gold, it wouldn't be up to that brat. Just call me when they're going to investigate, we'll join in the fun."
"no problem!"
It wasn't that he wasn't interested in that area; it's just that after spending so much on exploration, he had already been discouraged and had come to terms with reality.
He's been so busy these past few days that his feet barely touch the ground, constantly moving equipment. He thought he had made things very clear to Jason and should give up.
Unexpectedly, in less than two days, he had thoroughly investigated the situation of his purchased mining farm and was even planning to conduct an on-site inspection.
To be honest, William didn't care.
Since the purchase of the mining farm, some well-informed individuals have relentlessly drilled in that area again and again, spending a considerable amount of money, but the results were predictable.
In his view, Jason is undoubtedly the next one to fall into the trap.
He'd tried to persuade her, but she wouldn't listen, and there was nothing he could do.
However, he decided to join in the fun.
Time flies, and Jason's promised three days of rest have passed in a flash!
In the past two days, Angell and Jason have had a lot of discussions and analyzed a lot of data on paper.
The more Angel understood the data, the more depressed he became. He was originally ready to make a big splash, but he was as listless as a wilted eggplant.
It's terrible, the data is terrible.
The conclusions were not provided by a single exploration company, but the results were consistent.
Angell wanted to offer some advice, but ultimately remained silent. After all, they were already there, so it wouldn't hurt to observe.
On the morning of the fourth day, the group of ten drove straight to their destination.
They sped along, kicking up a cloud of dust, and arrived at their destination.
Looking into the distance, the reddish earth is covered with sparse, low shrubs and scattered weeds.
This place is no different from other places, except that there are more tire tracks, which are obviously traces left from the initial exploration.
Everyone acted in unison; once the vehicle stopped, everyone else got out, including Dolino and his group.
As for the three photographers, thanks to Kass's advice, they simply mounted some simple video cameras on the vehicle and drove away at a distance.
Angell also moved away from the vehicle and refused to get back in.
After getting into Jason's car once, he decided never to again.
He finally understood. He couldn't comprehend or learn Jason's methods at all. As for Jason's theories, he didn't understand them, but he was greatly impressed, since Jason had found gold using this method.
Jason leaned out of the car window and teased the crowd, "Are you sure no one's getting in?"
His response was a unanimous shake of the head.
Suddenly, the roar of a car engine grew louder as it approached, causing everyone to turn around and look, including Jason, who was about to set off.
When the car came to a smooth stop, William got out, a cigar dangling from his lips. He looked around at everyone, his gaze finally settling on Jason.
"It's nothing, you guys are busy, I just came to check on things," William greeted, then plopped down on the car hood.
