Gold Rush Starts in the Bering Sea

Chapter 26: The Next Step

Every morning, Jason habitually checks the weather forecast.

The winds were still raging and the rain was still pouring down.

The weather in the Bering Sea is so bad it really wears you down.

Faced with reality, Jason, aside from taking a break, called Brent, Andy, and even little Hart and his parents to the meeting room.

He has only one idea now, but he cannot implement it all by himself.

For gold panning, especially on land, a team is essential, and he also needs to see what Andy and his partner are willing to do.

"Everyone, I need help now."

Jason's words caused everyone in the meeting room to have strange expressions.

Brent's eyes widened in surprise, his face contorted in a strange expression, and he even scratched his ear, wondering if he had misheard.

Andy is alright, but even with a winning streak, he seems a bit lost.

In this meeting room, apart from Little Hart, everyone else was quite aware of Jason's gains.

With Jason earning so much gold, they really didn't know what he needed their help with.

After all, Jason can handle things with money, and as for things that money can't solve... well...

In the meeting room, Jason slowly announced his decision.

"That's right. For the foreseeable future, I will focus my gold panning efforts on land, as the climate and gold rush season in the Bering Sea are too short."

"I still have some money on hand."

"But the gold mining location hasn't been determined yet, and neither has the equipment."

Albert and Lillian were clearly caught off guard by Jason's decision.

"Jason, why do you want to pan for gold on land? Panning for gold on land is not the same as here in the Bering Sea. The cost of all kinds of equipment is a lot of money," Lillian said anxiously.

Albert's tone was calm, even encouraging: "Jason, tell me your thoughts."

"Australia," Jason said slowly.

"Jason, I feel like the Yukon Territory would be a good option too," Brent said excitedly.

Brent had also heard many tales about the Yukon Territory, where many land prospectors would go.

Jason shook his head: "The Yukon is too cold. Maintaining all kinds of equipment is very costly, and transporting materials and protecting the environment are also major challenges."

Jason also considered the Yukon Territory, but after considering various factors, he decided to eliminate it from the list.

"Have you thought about the situation in Australia? What about the high temperatures?" Albert wasn't trying to discourage Jason; that was just the reality.

Jason offered a solution: "Mining can be done there year-round. Even if we have to stop during the day due to high temperatures, we can still mine at night."

"Jason, you're oversimplifying things."

"First, you need to understand the locations where you can mine."

"As you said, you still have some money, but after deducting the cost of equipment purchases, how much do you have left?"

"Besides, I know quite a bit about Australia. Are you familiar with their mining methods?"

"Jason, I don't deny the value of gold in Australia, but it's too early for you right now."

Albert was stating the facts, which, although true, still made Jason frown.

He had watched many gold panning videos in his previous life, but some of the actual operations were not shown in the videos.

In the documentary, Parker also travels around the world to explore, but eventually returns to the Yukon Territory.

Clearly, there must be something going on that is unknown to the public.

Lillian spoke up as well.

"Jason, the biggest difference between the Yukon and Australia is the weather."

"But the Yukon Territory is more suitable for you right now."

"In Australia, large-scale heap leaching and dry vibrating screen machinery are the main methods of operation, followed by the mining of large veins."

"Jason, although Australia is currently the largest gold-producing region, the Yukon Territory has even greater development potential."

Albert and Lillian were doing all the talking.

Little Hart hesitated, wanting to speak but unsure of his role.

As for Andy and Brent, observing the atmosphere, they astutely remained silent.

After a moment of silence, Jason spoke again: "Andy, Brent, Hart Jr., and Ada, what are your thoughts?"

"Jason, I'm fine with anything," Brent said hesitantly, scratching his head. "Anyway, as long as we can find gold, it's fine."

"I have no objection either, anywhere is fine, after all, the gold rush season in the Bering Sea is too short." Andy didn't care, anyway, the Yukon Territory or Australia were better than the Bering Sea.

He had been in the gold mining industry for over a decade, but he lacked funds, and the gold mining here was relatively easy.

Otherwise, he...

When Jason looked at him, Little Hart was a little confused: "Jason, you can actually go anywhere. I don't know anything about the Yukon and Australia."

Ada, who had been sitting there listening, finally spoke up: "Jason, what about your manpower? Operating specialized machinery isn't so easy."

"Furthermore, you must understand that whether it's Australia or Yukon, we are outsiders, and there's a lot to learn about that."

Ada didn't approve of Jason's idea. In her opinion, Jason, who had already achieved success in the Bering Sea, had no need to go anywhere else.

Albert, who hadn't spoken until now, finally spoke up, decisively saying, "Why think so much? Just do it. If it doesn't work, we can just go back to the Bering Sea."

"Then it's decided, we'll go to Australia," Jason said, making the decision immediately.

Looking at the two of them, Jason asked, "Brent, Andy, after we're done panning for gold in the Bering Sea, do you want to come with me to Australia?"

"Of course, Jason, you can't leave me behind," Brent's deep voice was full of excitement.

Having followed a successful person and gotten along very well, Brent couldn't let this powerful figure slip away.

"Jason, me too," Andy nodded, his voice deep and resonant, a glint of light in his eyes. "But, could Brent and I get a raise?"

"Okay, we can discuss that later."

Jason didn't hesitate. Having lived his previous life as a beast of burden, he knew all too well what it meant to be a working-class person.

It's all about money. No matter what aspect feels wrong, it always comes down to the money not being right enough.

As far as Jason is concerned, he won't be stingy as long as Brent and Andy can create value.

"Dad, Mom, and Ada, let's go on a family trip to Australia after the Bering Sea gold rush season is over."

"Brent, Andy, and little Hart, you guys come too."

"We can do some research while we're traveling."

Jason's true intentions were written all over his face; the trip was a pretense, his real purpose was to conduct research.

It didn't matter to Albert and the others; they traveled every year, only this time it was to Australia.

"Jason, I've given all my money to my family," Brent said, his eyes dimming.

"Don't worry, I'll cover all the expenses this time."

Jason was very generous; after all, there weren't many people, and this amount of money was pitifully small compared to the gold rush profits during this period.

The major decisions have been made, but the specifics will need to be determined after further investigation.

A photographer on the side captured Jason's small meeting.

Of course, at present, the focus should still be on gold mining in the Bering Sea.

Perhaps due to the fusion of memories from his past life, Jason is usually well-prepared for the unknown.

Although the Bering Sea is not a suitable and comfortable place to pan for gold, as long as there is gold, it will do!

As for Jason, in addition to keeping an eye on the weather, he is also looking for suitable candidates.

Inside the tavern, old Gary, amused by Jason's constant wandering glances, said, "What's wrong, King of the Bering Sea? What's he thinking?"

Jason asked, "Old Gary, do you know anyone who's an expert in mechanical repair?"

"What's wrong, kid? You're not satisfied with the Bering Sea anymore?" Old Gary poured Jason a beer and teased him.

In the Bering Sea region, machinery is usually replaced directly with spare parts; there's no need for anyone to come and repair it.

"But don't even think about it. I know people who want to work in the gold rush."

"What's the reason you don't want to pan for gold?" Jason asked.

Old Gary understood Jason's meaning: "You want to go find them?"

"Forget about it. People who are skilled in mechanical repair can earn just as much as those who pan for gold, and their income is more stable."

"If you try to go to them, you'll definitely be kicked out."

"Furthermore, people skilled in mechanical repair are in high demand, and some who are willing to go out already have established teams to seek their fortune."

Old Gary sat on a high stool across the bar, finding Jason's idea very unrealistic.

"Kid, no matter where you're planning to strike it rich, I still have to tell you, you must find some locals," old Gary said earnestly, his fingers unconsciously rubbing his wine glass.

Jason nodded.

"Thanks, old Gary," Jason handed over the money for the drinks, along with a tip he'd never given before.

"Kid, you gave me too much, huh?" Old Hart pulled out the tip Jason had given him, waved it in his hand, and pushed it back in front of Jason.

Jason raised an eyebrow; he hadn't expected old Gary, who always demanded tips, to be so generous this time.
