Gold Rush Starts in the Bering Sea

Chapter 7: Rich Mineral Area

Detection range: 5 meters (upgradeable: 1 meter for every 100 ounces)

[Detection depth: 1 meter (upgradeable to 100 ounces, upgradeable to 1 meter)]

[Estimated weight: 339 ounces]

Upgradeable gold ounces: None

[Note: Gold does not absorb energy; it is only used for upgrading purposes, and its value remains unaffected.]

[Note: Only gold discovered through exploration using one's own methods is of useful value.]

"Brent, we're going to make a fortune this time!"

Jason couldn't help but laugh into the walkie-talkie. This result was based on Jason's current exploration using the ship as the radius. Judging from the current terrain, there were definitely more around!

How could Jason not be excited?

Jason had already started working on the nozzle of the money-absorbing pump.

Pushing aside the sediment and rocks, Jason aimed the tube at the gold-rich area.

Watching a dense array of gold particles, each the size of a fingernail, being sucked into the pump nozzle by the gold-absorbing pump, the chill in my body lessened considerably.

After working for about an hour more, Jason surfaced, planning to send Brent down to collect the money.

After all, he had paid money and was entitled to a share of the profits; the more gold he had, the more he received. Besides, Brent, who was already wearing the gold, couldn't wait any longer.

"Jason, you're the one!" Brent, who had helped Jason remove his diving gear, gave Jason a bear hug and patted him hard on the back.

"Alright, don't go down yet. Get me a notebook, and I'll draw a picture of the surrounding area for you. Then you can use the drawing to make money."

Jason broke free from Brent, patted his thick arm, and smiled.

Soon, after roughly sketching out the underwater conditions in his notebook, Jason instructed Brent, "According to this diagram, first suck up any gold you can."

"Brent, we need to be fast. We can extract as much gold as we can from these piles of rocks, but safety must be our top priority."

"Don't worry!" Brent thumped his chest and assured him.

If the discovery of gold just now could be explained by luck, then this discovery, especially with the seabed conditions and the distribution of gold clearly depicted, cannot be described as luck.

In response, Brent could only say that the gold rush families indeed had a very strong foundation!

Amid Brent's shouts and yells, more and more gold was being sucked up by the gold-absorbing pump.

Night fell quickly.

The lights on the Lillian came on, especially near the equipment, where a wire had been strung up and a high-powered light bulb had been installed.

Two people take turns, one rests while the other keeps the equipment running!

Time to make money is limited, so once a rich mining area is discovered, they'll try to extract as much as they can before the weather in the Bering Sea turns bad.

Take a picture of a spot, mark it with an X in your hand and in your notebook, and casually ask Brent below, "Brent, how much space is left in my drawing?"

"Jason, there are three spots left."

"be safe!"

At this rate, the detected locations can be sucked up very quickly.

Jason sat in front of the equipment, glancing at it and the gold trough from time to time, and would stop Brent below if he noticed anything amiss.

Three plastic buckets have been placed around the area, containing gold-bearing gravel that has been cleared out but not separated, and the gold content is very high.

The felt has been replaced four times now.

Each time it's changed, it's constantly rinsed in the bucket. Under the influence of gravity, it sinks into the plastic bucket. After settling for a while, the water on top is skimmed off.

After rinsing in two plastic buckets and letting the sediment settle, the gold-containing sand and gravel were placed together in one plastic bucket.

While many gold prospectors prefer to change the felt every now and then, Jason, who can see the detection results at all times, will stop and change the felt as soon as he detects gold loss.

"Lillian, Lillian, this is Albert, reply received," Albert's voice came through the intercom in the captain's cabin.

"Roger that, this is the Lillian, this is Jason."

"You brat, turn back right now! Did you even check the weather forecast? The wind's about to pick up!"

Jason broke out in a cold sweat as he looked at the data on the weather radar.

"We're heading back now."

Jason put down the walkie-talkie and immediately called Brent up.

"Jason, give me another half hour." With the gold right in front of him, Brent was reluctant to give it up.

"Brent, hurry up and get on board! The waves are rising, and the storm is coming soon!"

At Jason's urging, Brent returned to his clothes, and the two immediately packed up their equipment.

"Damn storm!"

Brent's unwilling voice echoed in the strong wind.

Jason didn't care; he had already noted down the coordinates and would come back once the storm passed.

From setting sail this morning until now, it's only been about fifteen hours. Subtracting the time spent on the road, the actual time spent panning for gold is only about eleven hours. As far as we've gotten so far, that's enough!

Even though it hasn't been completely separated yet, and still contains a lot of other metals and sand, the detection results show that it contains a whopping 314.6 ounces!

This harvest was even greater than many gold rush ships could achieve in the entire gold rush season.

Throughout the journey, Brent sat beside the plastic buckets filled with gold, his smile never fading.

As we got closer to the port, we encountered more and more gold-dredging ships, which were clearly all returning to port.

At the port, Albert, Ada, and their mother Lillian, who had already returned to port, were waiting for Jason, who was at the helm in the cabin, which stirred a wave of emotion in his heart.

Once the boat docked and was secured, Albert boarded it and kicked Jason, who had just emerged from the cabin.

"You little brat, do you want to die in the Bering Sea?!"

Then he looked at Brent: "And you, kid, why aren't you taking a proper look at the equipment!"

Although he was scolded, Jason wasn't angry; he knew it was out of concern.

"Jason, if you do this again next time, you'll never be able to go out to sea again." At this moment, his mother, Lillian, with a serious expression, also boarded the boat.

"Don't worry, there won't be a next time," Jason immediately assured him.

Ada, standing behind Jason, raised an eyebrow but didn't say anything more.

Since everyone had arrived, Jason immediately gathered the men.

When the gold pan was opened, a dense array of gold particles came into view, leaving Albert speechless: "You've found a rich gold mine?!"

"Of course," Jason nodded. "Not only in the gold trough, but in the other three buckets as well."

Looking at the gold trough and the three plastic buckets, Albert's eyes reddened: "Are you sure you found it inside the mining area? Not in those public waters?"

"Alright, get to work," Lillian interrupted Albert, urging him on.

Ada was cleaning the gold trough and chatting with Brent, her eyes occasionally glancing at Jason as she listened to Brent's description.

Could it be that Jason has inherited the family's gold rush bloodline?

From his conversation with Brent, it's clear that Jason's success cannot be explained by luck alone.

Ada shook her head and stopped worrying about it. As long as she found the gold, it didn't matter how she found it.

The felt was stuffed directly into the plastic buckets, and the gold-plating troughs were cleaned. The buckets were divided into two groups, with Brent carrying one bucket himself. Except for one plastic bucket which was filled with felt, the other two buckets already contained a lot of water.

Put the three plastic buckets on the boat and head straight for the warehouse of the separation equipment!

The small town, which had been turned back due to the storm, was bustling with activity and did not quiet down as night approached.

The warehouse door was closed, and under the lights, the separation equipment was started again. The water stains on it were still wet, indicating that Albert, who had returned early, had already completed the washing process.

The entire separation device is like a large disc covered with layers of small steps. Under the combined action of rotation and water flow, gold with higher purity can be separated.

I cleaned up all the felt I used today and gathered the gold sand from the three plastic buckets together.

Although it hasn't been panned yet, the weight of this gold is already evident.

Albert's eyes turned red with envy. Two hundred, or even three hundred ounces of gold!

"Jason, damn it, tell me the coordinates!"

Albert's face flushed red. He admitted that he was indeed envious of the huge harvest he had made in his own mining area in just over ten hours.

Jason smiled but didn't say anything.

Mother Lillian and brother Ada were also excited.

"So much gold, sometimes you can't find this much even in the whole gold rush season," Ada said with some envy.

Albert scooped gold-bearing sand into the separator, one spoonful after another. As it spun and was washed by the water, the gold, a symbol of wealth, shone even brighter under the lights.

"Jason, if I don't want a base salary and instead get a commission-based system, would you agree?" Brent was almost in tears.

Although he knew there was a lot of gold, the thought of having chosen a minimum wage made Brent want to shoot himself.

"Brent, then..." Jason teased, seeing Brent's expectant gaze, "Of course not, hahahaha."

No!

The room wasn't big, but the atmosphere was lively. Lillian brought out some food at some point.

Having already separated a portion of the gold, Ada took over the remaining drying work.

The job is simple: a slightly worn-out frying pan and a rice scoop are placed directly on the gas stove and stir-fried back and forth.

It took nearly two hours to finally separate all the gold.

I filled a stainless steel cylinder as tall as my forearm, plus two frying pans. That's my total haul for today.

"Weigh it!"

Albert lit a cigar, spoke, and gestured for Ada to begin.
