Gold Rush Starts in the Bering Sea

Chapter 74: Recruiting 2

I found a coffee shop, ordered a coffee, and relaxed.

Take a stroll in the shade of the trees.

They wandered through the alleyways filled with local character, and bought quite a few items that caught their eye, intending to give them as gifts.

Seeing that Jason was still interested in browsing, Dolino reminded him, "Boss, it's almost time. The agreed time is approaching."

When Jason and Dolino arrived at the recruitment agency, they saw a number of pickup trucks parked in front of the door, and through the windows, they could see many people sitting inside.

Clearly, these are people who have been notified to come for an interview.

When Jason entered, everyone's eyes were drawn to him and his companion.

Some people raised an eyebrow, expressing surprise at Jason's youthful appearance.

Someone frowned and tilted their head to look at Jason.

Their gazes held curiosity, scrutiny, and skepticism.

The twelve people present each had a different expression.

A staff member stepped forward to greet them and introduced him to the group, saying, "This is Jason, your boss who wants to hire you. Please feel free to discuss any questions you may have."

After the introductions, the staff tactfully stepped back, leaving the stage to Jason.

Standing before the crowd, Jason coughed twice, met their gazes, and said, "Everyone, my name is Jason, and I'm the owner of a mine."

"Yes, I am very young, and you may wonder if I can pay you a salary."

"I don't think you need to worry about that. If you're well-informed, you should know about Nobel. I bought my mine from Nobel, so you don't need to worry about wages."

"The mine is already operational. We just finished panning yesterday and harvested 451.7 ounces of gold!"

Jason briefly explained the current situation to everyone, which elicited whispers from the crowd.

They were all gold prospectors from the neighborhood, and they knew each other to some extent. They were aware of what Jason was saying, but they didn't know that Jason had bought the Nobel Mine.

Noan nudged his old friend beside him a few times with his elbow and asked softly, "Miguel, do you think this is reliable?"

Miguel nodded and analyzed, "It's not a big problem. We can see the mining operations. After all, Nobel is quite famous around here. The fact that our future new boss can come up with so much money to buy a mining operation shows that he is very powerful."

"But isn't this kid a bit too young?" Noan frowned, his tone uncertain.

Miguel said speechlessly, "Noan, are you getting carried away? As long as you give us the money, isn't that enough?"

They're all just trying to make a living. If it weren't for the unstable income from panning for gold in the wild, they wouldn't be willing to work for others. But then again, once they're working for someone else, they don't care who they're working for, as long as they get paid.

The words may be rough, but the principle is sound: whether you're panning for gold or working, the goal is the same!

Noan agreed with Miguel's words, and looking at Jason's still somewhat immature face, said, "Let's see how much the salary is first. If it's too little, then I won't play along."

Jason stood in front of the crowd, listening to their discussions without stopping them.

"I'm sorry, I've thought about it for a long time, but I've decided not to join your mine." He turned and left, very neatly and efficiently.

Jason didn't stop them; they were free to come and go as they pleased, since it was a two-way choice.

A young man stood up and asked, "I have a question. I'm wondering what kind of salary you're offering us?"

Jason didn't hesitate and said, "Base salary of 4000 US dollars."

"Sorry, that's too low."

After this person left, two other people also left without saying anything. Clearly, the salary Jason offered was not within their acceptable range.

The gold mining industry is inherently a high-intensity job, not to mention that most people in this industry dream of getting rich overnight. Although a salary of 4000 US dollars is not low, it is far from the salary they expected.

Jason glanced at the remaining people and asked, "Anyone else want to leave?"

Seeing that no one moved, Jason spoke again: "The base salary is four thousand, and the rest of the bonuses are calculated separately. The monthly salary is around five to six thousand. Of course, all of this is based on the premise that the gold harvest is good."

Seeing that no one spoke, Jason frowned and said helplessly, "Everyone, you're here for an interview. It's a two-way selection process. You can ask me any questions you have at any time."

"I have a question," someone raised their hand and stood up, asking, "How many days off are there per month? And is it day shift or night shift?"

Jason replied, "Four days, alternating between day and night shifts."

"You've been in the gold mining industry for years, so your experience is definitely far greater than mine. What I can guarantee you is that the money will arrive on time, and the food and drink at the mine will be excellent!"

After waiting a while and seeing that no one spoke, Jason said, "You can also consider it. I'm in that office. If you have no objections, then come and sign the contract with me."

"How does it go? Does it seem reliable?"

"I think he's alright, but he's too young, and I'm a little unsure about him."

"I'll pass on that. I just thought about it, and although the salary isn't low, if I mined gold myself, my monthly earnings would be about the same."

After Jason left, people around him started discussing it, each expressing their own thoughts. Some left, some stayed, and some even went directly into Jason's office to sign contracts.

It took more than an hour, leaving eight people behind. After Jason signed contracts with them and agreed on their start dates, he said goodbye.

It was already close to evening, and Jason and Dolino hurried to the small airport.

At the mine, Little Hart and Brent, covered in oil, sat down right there.

Brent looked around the mine and asked疑惑地, "Little Hart, why don't I see Jason today?"

Little Hart rolled his eyes. "That Jason kid ran off a long time ago, who knows where he is now."

"Oh! When did you leave?"

"Let's not talk about this. Let's rest first. We've already finished most of it today. We'll talk about the rest tomorrow," Little Hart said weakly as he lay down on the ground.

Don't think about it; the more you think about it, the angrier you'll get.

He finally got a break, but everyone else disappeared early in the morning, leaving him to work. Even though Jason paid him, he wanted to rest too.

Little Hart turned his head and shouted loudly to Xing Ronghua and Li Guoming, who were tidying up the seasonings they had bought that day under the eaves, "Brother Li, Brother Xing, let's get something good to eat tonight, it has to be expensive!"

"no problem!"

Brent chuckled, "Little Hart, are you trying to bankrupt Jason?"

Hearing this, Little Hart was speechless. He tilted his head and looked at Brent with annoyance, saying, "Brent, you're not so simple-minded. Besides, you know Jason's worth. How can this possibly bankrupt Jason?"

As the last rays of the setting sun faded, Little Hart stood up, patted his bottom, and said, "Let's go, wash up first, then eat quickly. We have work to do tomorrow!"

He couldn't help but sigh, "Brent, don't you think Jason's got some fancy cars and beautiful women?"

Brent glanced in the direction of the mine entrance, patted Little Hart on the shoulder, and comforted him, "It's alright, Jason's the boss, after all."

Little Hart shrugged and didn't say anything.

Sweet and sour pork

Twice-cooked pork

Sweet and sour pork tenderloin

Hot and Sour Shredded Potatoes

Tomato and Egg

Three meat dishes and two vegetable dishes were served, with Xing Ronghua and Li Guoming taking turns serving the food.

"It smells so good!" Brent took a deep breath, his mouth practically watering.

Little Hart swallowed hard, picked up his fork, and started eating. When the sweet and sour pork entered his mouth, his eyes narrowed instantly with delight.

Then he started stuffing his mouth full, his cheeks bulging out.

The others were similar; they didn't say much nonsense, and the knives and forks on the table jingled as everyone couldn't wait to try their food.

Seeing this, Xing Ronghua smiled.

Although it can't compare to authentic Chinese cuisine, the satisfied expressions on the diners' faces are the greatest recognition a chef can receive.

"Hiccup~"

Little Hart leaned back in his chair, let out a burp, and looked completely satisfied.

"Old Li, Old Xing, can we eat this again tomorrow?" Brent struggled with the shredded potatoes with his fork, and finally just picked up the plate and shoveled them into his stomach.

"No problem!" Li Guoming smiled and gave an "OK" sign.

Just as everyone was savoring the taste of their food, the roar of a car engine broke the silence of the mine, causing everyone to turn and look out the window.

As Jason entered the house, he waved the bag he was carrying. "Everyone, I brought you some delicious food. Come and have a taste!"

"Jason, burp! What's that delicious food?" Brent burped, his eyes already fixed on the jar in Jason's hand.

"Here, take a look. Help yourself to whatever you want to eat." Jason handed the bag directly to Brent and found a stool nearby to sit down.

Little Hart squinted, his eyes filled with resentment: "Jason, you've had quite the day, haven't you? Delicious food, and surely some beautiful women too?"

Jason got goosebumps from that little expression.

The moment this topic was brought up, everyone present perked up their ears.

Indeed, gossiping is in everyone's nature.

Jason looked disgusted. "Little Hart, the mechanics will be here in a couple of days. If you keep acting like this, you can forget about getting a day off."

Amidst the playful bickering, the snacks and food Jason brought back were shared among everyone.
