Gold Rush Starts in the Bering Sea
Chapter 85: The Bering Sea Undergoes Change
"Who?"
Jason was a little stunned, and for a moment he couldn't remember who old Gary was talking about.
"You don't remember the mining company boss who wanted to get you involved?" Old Gary asked, looking surprised.
"Oh, you mean him?" Jason remembered him and asked curiously, "What happened to him?"
Jason didn't recognize the name, but when the name of the mining boss who immediately tried to recruit people and whose face was full of calculation came up, Jason immediately remembered him. After all, the boss was too eccentric.
Old Gary lowered his voice, "I heard that Corey is buying up mines on a large scale. He's turned three gold dredgers into five, planning a big operation next year."
As a local who has lived here for many years, and especially as the owner of the only bar in the area, Gary's information network is undeniably extensive.
"Oh, then I wish him great wealth." Jason was uninterested; the news wasn't as appealing as the hot dog in his hand.
The Bering Sea is there.
Let whoever wants to pan for gold do so; it has little to do with him.
Moreover, if it were really that easy to dig for gold in the Bering Sea, there wouldn't be so many people going bankrupt every year from gold panning.
"You little rascal, you're looking down on the Bering Sea, huh?" Old Gary pointed at Jason, his tone full of teasing.
"However, people in the Bering Sea are all paying attention to that Corey, after all, a capital invasion is not a good thing for anyone."
Making money in the Bering Sea is already difficult enough, and now a powerful player has suddenly joined in. Who knows what the future holds?
"Old Gary, why are you worried about this? No matter who comes to pan for gold, it won't affect your wine sales." In Jason's opinion, Old Gary's worries were completely unfounded.
Old Gary chuckled and said, "Jason, you know your dad's the biggest boat charterer in the Bering Sea now, aren't you worried?"
Jason shrugged, the meaning of which was self-evident.
While the two were chatting, some people came into the bar and greeted Jason when they saw him.
It's only 2005 now, and the internet isn't very developed yet, let alone in remote Alaska.
In the freezing cold, besides staying at home, the place where people like to gather when they have nothing to do is the only bar in town.
As for smartphones, they won't be available for several more years.
After a few casual words, the discussion mostly revolved around recent events, such as who had found a lot of gold in which places, and Jason simply chimed in with his opinions.
He finished his hot dog, wiped his mouth, and said goodbye to everyone.
Inside the bar, the expressions on everyone's faces were somewhat complicated.
"So young, he's only been gold mining for less than a year!"
"Yes, who would have thought that someone who just turned eighteen would become the most successful person in our area?"
"I heard that Albert and Old Hart also made a lot of gold this year thanks to this kid."

Anyone who sees themselves wasting so much time in the Bering Sea, only to be less capable than a novice, would feel a bit frustrated.
Wrapped in his clothes, Jason trudged through the crunching snow and returned home.
"Jason, did you go eat something delicious? I can smell meat in the documents~" Ellie tilted her head up, her nose twitching.
Jason looked exasperated. "Ellie, if you keep eating, you'll become fat."
Ellie glanced furtively at the kitchen and pleaded softly, "It's because Mom's cooking isn't good. If you go out to eat something delicious, you have to take me with you!"
"Aren't you afraid I'll tell Mom what you said?" Jason grinned mischievously.
His response was Ellie's two wide, rolling eyes.
I had a simple lunch, since I had already eaten a hot dog outside, and I really couldn't eat much more.
After dinner, Jason chopped some wood in the yard and lit the fireplace.
I nestled on the sofa, yawning as I watched TV.
Boring, so incredibly boring.
Especially after experiencing the internet in my previous life, watching TV programs now seems childish.
"Jason, are you a pig?"
"Shut up," Jason waved his hand, and then yawned.
"Mom, when does Ellie start school?" Jason asked Lillian, who was holding a report.
Lillian looked up at Jason, who was yawning and looking bored, and said helplessly, "What's wrong? You can't even stand it after just getting back?"
"I just feel bored, there's nothing to do at home," Jason said, expressing his true feelings.
Lillian burst out laughing upon hearing this. "You were like this at the mine too. Why do you get bored in a different place?"
"It's different, the place is different," Jason shook his head, stubbornly insisting.
Glancing at Jason, Lillian said, "If all else fails, you could work out, chop some firewood, and take care of the equipment."
Jason's eyelids twitched at those words.
"I don't feel so bored anymore," Jason chuckled, earning eye rolls from Lillian and Ellie.
Ellie looked at him with disdain and said, "Jason, you're such a hypocrite."
Jason remained silent, nestled quietly on the sofa. Compared to working, the TV program in front of him didn't seem so boring anymore.
After staying at home for two days, Jason finally got to see the day Ellie would start school.
Jason had finally completed his mission after getting Ellie into school.
Ellie is a boarding student, so she basically goes home every two weeks. Jason can finally have some free time for now.
With his gun in hand and his clothes on, Jason loaded the snowmobile onto the vehicle, told Lillian, and headed straight for the wilderness!
Park your car on the side of the road, hop on a snowmobile, and speed through the snow.
Snowflakes splashed, leaving a long trail on the spotless snow.
There are no large trees in Nome, only tundra plants and low shrubs. Trees like spruce and birch are found in areas south of Nome.
As Jason drove his snowmobile through the bushes, his cheeks were still red from the wind, even though he was bundled up tightly.
"What bad luck, not a single animal?" Jason was somewhat taken aback as he looked around at the vast expanse of white, without seeing a single moving creature.
No matter what it is, at least one of them has appeared.
They've even brought out guns, but now there's not a single animal in sight.
Jason turned off the snowmobile and, unwilling to give up, raised the binoculars hanging around his neck. He refused to believe he wouldn't find an opportunity to fire.
Wearing snowshoes, Jason wandered around for a while, but still couldn't find a moving target.
"Alright, let's just treat it as a game."
Jason wrapped himself in his clothes and face shield and rode his snowmobile wildly across the snow.
The snow-covered landscape stretches to the horizon.
The low shrubs grew tenaciously in the snow.
Despite the wind and snow, some red berries still stubbornly hang on the treetops, adding a touch of color.
Occasionally, animal footprints can be seen, telling the story of life still tenaciously surviving beneath this snow-covered plain.
Spacious, pristine, and pure!
It must be admitted that the natural scenery of this unpolluted region is truly captivating.
It's just too cold!
"Bang!"
Gunshots echoed across the snowy plains, but missed their target.
The gun was cocked again, and with another shot rang out, a streak of blood stood out starkly against the snowy plain.
As Jason drove up, a snow chicken appeared before him.
The snow-white feathers provided natural camouflage in the snow, and Jason wouldn't have noticed them if he hadn't suddenly moved.
"Not bad, at least we're open for business." Jason tossed it directly onto the rack on the back of the snowmobile.
The gains weren't great, but at least there were some gains, which is better than the losses from the air force.
As the wind picked up, Jason headed back. Although he had a gun, many people froze to death here every year, and there were also many wild animals, especially wolves and bears.
A wise person avoids standing under a crumbling wall; safety comes first.
