Chapter 114 Extreme Silence

Chapter 114 Extreme Silence

"Bang!" Ella's paws were pinned down by Silver Leaf, but her tail was already wagging like a propeller behind her, and drool was dripping all over the tablecloth.

"You've already eaten three roasted lamb legs, you're not allowed to eat anymore!" Silver Leaf pinched her tail.

"Roasted lamb leg is just an appetizer!"

Just then, a richly dressed middle-aged man suddenly stood up at the other end of the long table. He had handsome, upright eyebrows, wore a deep purple formal suit, and had a silver pegasus badge pinned to his left breast.

He walked toward Madame Mira with his wine glass in hand, stopped three steps away from her, and bowed respectfully.

"Lady Mira, may I have a word with you in private?"

Mrs. Mira raised her head, a polite but distant smile on her face: "Speaker Tiberius, please speak."

Her tone was gentle and polite, but the hand under the table tightened its grip as she entered the password.

Speaker Tiberius bowed slightly and said solemnly, "My lord, I have a few suggestions to report to you in person regarding the territory inspection arrangements for next month."

"The main focus is on several mining areas on the southern slopes of the Tunguska Mountains. Safety issues there have been repeatedly raised by several veteran miners recently, and I feel it's necessary to include them in the inspection scope in advance. In addition, regarding the Centaur tribe's application for a reduction in pastoral taxes this year, the council's opinion is to postpone the approval process and first audit the implementation of last year's reduction.

Mrs. Mira nodded: "The mining area on the southern slope of Tunguska does indeed need intensive inspection, and the exploration can no longer be delayed. In fact, I have already arranged for someone to set off in the next few days."

When she said "a special person has been arranged", her fingertip gently hooked into the groove of the Ultraman transformation device.

Chu Sheng clenched his fist.

"As for the reduction of the centaur's pastoral tax," Lady Mira continued, her voice steady, "the council's opinion is reasonable. The approval process should be suspended until the audit results are submitted. I will personally oversee this matter later."

Speaker Tiberius bowed his head in agreement, his demeanor becoming even more respectful: "Your Excellency is wise. There is one more matter, though I am unsure whether I should speak of it."

"Please speak."

Speaker Tiberius stepped closer and lowered his voice: "It's just that—recently, several speakers in the council have been discussing in private the future development plans for the territory, hoping that Your Excellency can share more information with the council. After all, there are rumors circulating about new inventions from the Dwarf Kingdom, and if the market does fluctuate, the council needs to be prepared in advance. Do you think we could take this opportunity to communicate with the council and reassure everyone?"

Lady Mira picked up her wine glass and swirled it gently: "Speaker Tiberius, some things are not the right time to discuss. Speaking too soon will only lead to unnecessary speculation. Pegasus Territory has developed for so many years, not through speculation and gossip."

Her hand gripping the Ultraman transformation device suddenly tightened, increasing the force and accelerating the final input of the password.

Chu Sheng's pupils contracted as the final key to the Ultraman transformation device was unlocked, and the energy accumulation began with unstoppable momentum!

He bit his lip hard, swallowing back his muffled groan.

Then he felt the Ultraman transformation device pulsating in Mrs. Mira's palm, once, twice, three times.

Each jump was accompanied by a burst of Tiga's light power, which all flowed into her hand.

Mrs. Mira did not let go. One hand steadily held the two energy storage batteries of the transformation device, while the other hand was slightly clasped together, like a small bowl to catch dew, catching all of Tiga's light power.

She was still talking to Speaker Tiberius.

"The time has come," she paused deliberately, "and what needs to be announced will be announced naturally."

She remained dignified, composed, and proper, without even raising an eyebrow.

Two faint blushes rose on her cheeks, but they were barely noticeable under the crystal chandelier. Her ears, which were turned towards Chu Sheng, were slightly pink, half-hidden by her chestnut-colored hair.

After a long while, she slowly withdrew her hand.

Chu Sheng lowered his head, pretending to be deep in thought, not daring to look at her.

But out of the corner of his eye, he saw that her hand, still clenched into a fist, moved naturally over her wine glass.

This crystal goblet was part of a set of crystal tableware created four hundred years ago by the legendary, extraordinary human craftsman "Fizzon the Fire" for his deceased wife. It sold at auction for more than a luxury property in the heart of the Empire.

The red wine inside is top-quality wine produced by "Nibelungen," the oldest noble winery in the northern part of the empire, run by a goblin. The price of one glass can buy ten excellent stallions.

Mrs. Mira placed her fist vertically at the rim of the crystal glass, then opened it slightly.

Chu Sheng's eyes widened.

The clear, purplish-red wine gradually became cloudy. Mrs. Mira clenched her fist and gently swirled the glass.

She stood up, holding her wine glass.

"Speaker Tiberius," her voice rose a few decibels, carrying clearly to every corner of the long table at the head of the table, "thank you for coming tonight to report these matters to me. A small drink is all I have to say."

Speaker Tiberius quickly raised his glass and thanked him profusely.

Mrs. Mira raised her glass in acknowledgment, then tilted her head back and drank it down.

She drank very slowly, as if savoring the preciousness of the wine, holding each sip in her mouth for a moment before swallowing it completely.

She put down her wine glass, nodded slightly to Speaker Tiberius, and then sat back down in her seat of honor.

Chu Sheng stared blankly at the empty wine glass.

He glanced at his Kamen Rider transformation device; the zipper was already zipped up and neatly fastened.

"What's wrong?" Mrs. Mira turned her head slightly and gave him a dignified smile. "Have you eaten? Dessert hasn't been served yet. Crème brûlée is the kitchen's signature dish; I'm sure you'll like it."

Chu Sheng opened his mouth.

Mrs. Mira picked up a lace handkerchief from the table and wiped her hands. "Your fork got stuck in the goose leg bone."

Chu Sheng looked down and found that the fork in his hand had somehow been stuck into the goose leg skeleton, between two bones, and he couldn't pull it out.

Across from her, Amber put down her teacup.

Her gaze swept back and forth between Chu Sheng and Mrs. Mira, then she smiled slightly and said nothing. She simply gestured for a servant to bring her a fresh cup of tea, as if it were none of her business.

Silver Leaf looked up, glancing at Chu Sheng, then at Mrs. Mira, then at Amber, sensing something was off about the atmosphere. She couldn't quite put her finger on it, but after a moment's thought, she decided to continue eating her berry tart.

Ella, however, did not notice anything unusual at all.

She was devouring the freshly served roasted lamb leg without any manners, her face and hands covered in oil, muttering incoherently, "Little lamb, I'm sorry! Ella didn't want to eat you either, but you smelled so good!"

Arthur wrinkled his nose and suspiciously turned the dessert in front of him over with his fork.

"What does it taste like?"

"You mean this briar jam?" Mrs. Mira smiled slightly. "Yes, this is the flavor. I think it's delicious, and I've gotten used to it."
