Chu Sheng's brain was overloaded. He looked at Amber's flawless face, then at the silent forest in the distance.

"His Majesty."

"Um?"

"I think I misheard." Chu Sheng raised his hand and rubbed his ear. "What did you say, 'child'?"

Amber looked at him calmly and said, "I said, let's have a baby."

The morning in the Sacred Tree Forest was quiet, with birds taking flight from the treetops in the distance, occasionally chirping merrily.

Chu Sheng heard his own heartbeat. Thump, thump, thump.

If he were calm and collected at this moment, he could be directly recruited by the Empire to serve as the Holy Father in the Holy Temple.

But something's not right!

If Amber's affection level isn't full, choosing "Okay, okay, let's have a few, boys and girls" at this point will most likely lead to a bad ending, where you wake up the next day to find that Amber has disappeared.

Chu Sheng struggled to look away from Amber: "Your Majesty, are you serious?"

"I'm serious," Amber said softly. "The names of the Royal Elves are passed down from generation to generation. When each Royal Elf dies, their name returns to the Sacred Tree; when the Sacred Tree bestows a child again, it will call out that name once more."

Chu Sheng frowned: "So, there have been many different Estas before, all named Esta?"

"Um."

"What the chinaberry tree did..."

"She erased her name."

Amber looked at the ruins of the royal court. The white-clad elves were no longer there, only puddles of gray mud. The names that had once been called by the sacred tree were plucked one by one by the bitter chinaberry and thrown into the roots of the Gray Domain Life Tree.

"After the name disappeared, the sacred tree could no longer give birth to new royal spirits. When it awoke, it took stock of its children and found only me."

"Only Amber."

"Only Amber."

She repeated it, her voice devoid of much emotion.

"But the royal elves can have offspring with other races," Ambermind continued. "There was a precedent thousands of years ago. That elf mated with a human and gave birth to the first male elf not named by the sacred tree."

What happened to the child afterward?

"We have left the Sacred Tree Forest."

Why?

Amber didn't answer immediately, but Chu Sheng understood.

Because the royal court doesn't recognize it, the sacred tree doesn't recognize it, and the elves' lofty rules don't recognize it either.

But now the rules are gone, because all the people who followed them are dead.

Amber looked down at Chu Sheng: "If I give birth to the child, the Royal Elves will not be completely extinct. If the Sacred Tree refuses to give a new name, then I will."

Chu Sheng broke out in a cold sweat: "Your Majesty, your decision goes against the wishes of our ancestors."

Amber chuckled softly: "I have no other choice."

Chu Sheng looked at An Bowen. Her eyes were empty, and her expression was too calm.

Something was wrong with her. Chu Sheng slowly exhaled: "I refuse."

Amber was stunned; she probably hadn't expected Chu Sheng to refuse.

Chu Sheng hadn't expected to refuse. He could even feel a certain unruly part of his body roaring in protest.

Chu Sheng reassured the thing in his heart: Don't worry, the version hasn't arrived yet.

Amber lowered her eyes, her voice lower: "You don't want to?"

"I am willing," Chu Sheng said honestly. "Ever since I met you, I've been dreaming about you."

He scratched his head: "But in what you just said, there was more responsibility than liking, and more exhaustion than anticipation. If I nodded in agreement, that would be taking advantage of someone's misfortune."

Amber fell silent. Chu Sheng reached out and took her hand, which was hanging by her skirt.

Her hands were bigger than his, with long, slender fingers and smooth, warm skin. Chu Sheng's hands were small, and compared to hers, they looked like those of a child who had just learned to hold an adult's hand.

Chu Sheng raised his head.

"Ambermind," Chu Sheng said, for the first time not addressing her as Your Majesty, "I will help you rebuild the Elven royal family."

Amber twitched her fingers slightly.

"We'll find a way, we'll check the Sacred Tree, we'll ask the Empire, we'll search for old documents. If all else fails, we'll bring the Gray Domain along and dig out those names buried in the mortar one by one."

"You are the Elf Queen, you must live to see the royal court grow back like a sapling."

He paused for a moment, then added, "Besides, I'm not some random nobody."

"Hmm?" Amber looked at him with a smile.

Chu Sheng straightened his chest: "I, Chu Sheng, the current [Hero], am on a journey to find the Hero's Sword."

Amber's eyes widened slightly: "[Hero]?"

"Yes." Chu Sheng nodded. "The weakest [Hero] in history. The Hero team currently has a [Holy Sword Knight], a dog-man, a gray elf, and a ranged support from the Cat Territory. Right now, we're just missing an Elf Queen."

As he said this, he tightened his grip on her hand.

"Amber, would you like to join my hero team?"

The wind blew across the ruins, and Amber looked at Chu Sheng, her emerald-gold eyes seeming to light up again.

She has lived too long, so long that she no longer believes in vows.

Emissaries of all races pledged allegiance before her, elven nobles pledged devotion, elders of the Greylands bowed their heads in obedience, and children of the royal court surrounded her in love.

Those words sounded nice. But what she actually wanted to do just now was really unpleasant.

She is tired.

She didn't want to keep going.

She wanted to find the most direct way to forcibly implant the future of the elves into her womb.

But Chu Sheng rejected her.

Amber suddenly grabbed Chu Sheng's hand. Before Chu Sheng could react, she gently pulled him.

He lost his balance and fell forward, the back of his head sinking into something soft.

It was Amber's thigh, Chu Sheng blinked.

He was pulled into Amber's arms, his head resting on her lap. Amber's thighs, beneath her platinum-gold dress, were full and soft; through the silky fabric, he could feel the warmth and elasticity unique to a mature body.

She bent down, supporting Chu Sheng's nape with one hand and gently placing the other on his forehead.

Chu Sheng looked up, and although he should have been able to see the sky, he couldn't.

Amber's overwhelmingly imposing peaks blocked his view from above, obscuring most of the sky. Chu Sheng could only see two majestic, full silhouettes edged with a ring of golden dawn light.

His throat moved, as if he wanted to say something. But Amber's fingertips gently pressed against his lips.

"Shhh."

Her hand gently stroked his forehead, and Chu Sheng suddenly relaxed.

He'd been on edge since last night. Infiltrating, unlocking, escaping, being chased, being beaten, the sacred tree reviving, the chinaberry tree dying, the royal court collapsing—he hadn't even had time to catch his breath.

Amber's body temperature slowly permeated the air, and the cool scent of leaves emanating from her body gave off a faint fragrance. The ample shadow on her chest made the morning light less glaring.

Chu Sheng's eyelids drooped, and he became drowsy.

Amber looked down at him, her gaze gentle: "You really are the [Hero]?"

"Hmm," Chu Sheng replied lazily, lying down. "Although I haven't found the sword yet."

"Then what will you use to fight?"

"Mouth."

Amber chuckled softly, her chest rising and falling slightly. Chu Sheng was so dazzled by the light that he simply closed his eyes.

She raised her hand and gently stroked Chu Sheng's hair: "You can pretend you didn't hear what I just said."

"no."

Why?

Chu Sheng opened his eyes and looked at her: "I will remember this for the rest of my life."

Amber raised an eyebrow.

Chu Sheng added, "After all, it's very exciting."

Amber tapped his forehead with her fingertip, not too hard, and Chu Sheng obediently shut up.

She looked towards the sacred tree forest in the distance; the sun had fully risen. She gave a barely perceptible soft "hmm."

Chu Sheng knew she had agreed, and his eyes lit up: "Then shouldn't there be something for the induction ceremony? Like a handshake, a hug, or..."

Amber looked down at him, and Chu Sheng immediately changed his mind: "Or an autograph would be fine too."

Amber smiled, then bent down and gently pressed her forehead against Chu Sheng's.

The two were very close, close enough that Chu Sheng could see the light golden lines around her pupils.

"Thank you," she said softly, "Chu Sheng."

"Um?"

"You just said that you are the [Hero] of this generation."

"right."

Amber blinked: "I've met the previous generation's [Hero]."

Chu Sheng's eyes widened suddenly: "Veronica?"

"Yes," she said softly, "She also came to the Sacred Tree Forest three years ago."

Three years ago? Wasn't Veronica already dead then?!
