Lord: Starting with Contract Half-Elf Twins

Chapter 46 The Origin of the North Wind

A small boat quietly broke away from the fleet escorting the Hundred Flowers.

A woman with a down-to-earth air about her stood at the bow of the ship. She had won Princess Amber's approval and secured the lead in the exploration mission.

Behind them came some slightly disappointed glances, because they had lost an important opportunity to serve the princess.

Although the woman in charge of the reconnaissance mission was only of average to below-average strength, she had a good understanding of the areas surrounding the kingdom.

Over the years, she has completed many missions in the border regions of the kingdom and has won the princess's favor.

The Hidden Light Society is an all-female organization with a small number of members, most of whom are personally selected by Princess Amber.

They came from very humble backgrounds; some were orphans who had been left to wander the streets since childhood, some were prostitutes who had been abducted to dark alleys, and some were slaves who had been sold to the market.

But their fates were changed thanks to Princess Amber's help.

Princess Amber promised them that when she reclaimed the throne, Dorne would become a better kingdom.

Whether to repay the princess's kindness or to believe in the future she promised, they all chose to follow her.

They would transform into the princess's spider silk, secretly active throughout the kingdom of Dorne, completing various tasks.

They are like the wind before dawn, sooner or later blowing away the dark clouds that obscure the sunrise, allowing the true sunlight to shine once more on the land of Dorne.

The small boat, braving the unexpected north wind, made a perilous maneuver to sail directly north.

Three days had passed since the returning fleet disappeared from sight.

"Captain, we are gradually approaching the shoreline."

A tall young man reported to the woman.

"Won't this cause us to miss the true source of the north wind?"

The woman smiled and explained, "Our small boat is not capable of withstanding the presence of a north wind. The princess did not send us here to die, so we should prioritize our own safety."

"Don't always think about perfectly completing the princess's task; that's not what she expects."

The tall young man scratched his head: "Oh."

"Besides, I'm just responsible for leading you through the reconnaissance mission; I'm not the real captain. Just call me by my name."

"My uncle said that on the ship we can only call him 'Captain'..."

"Then how should I address you? Captain of the Imperial Guard?"

"Well……"

The tall young man scratched his head again, and after a long pause, he finally realized that Tasha was being sarcastic.

"My name is Kyleon Ironshield."

"Tasha Lillard."

Tasha told Kylian to rest and not to worry about the ship's navigation, explaining that as the Royal Guard responsible for combat, he needed to be ready for battle at any time.

The real reason was that she had witnessed the young man's strength and was quite worried that he might accidentally break the mast of the small boat.

"Iron Guard..."

Tasha stood back at the bow, observing the horizon as she muttered the name of Kylian.

This was not his original surname, but rather a name bestowed upon him by the princess.

Generally speaking, a royal bestowal of a name represents an extremely special honor, and most people will pass this bestowed name down as their surname.

She remembered that among the dukes and earls of the kingdom, several had inherited the names bestowed by the founding king of Dorne.

It seems the princess is quite fond of Kylian.

It's not just his almost religious loyalty to the princess, but also the terrifying power hidden beneath his kind exterior.

I heard that many years ago, during the Royal Guard's assessment, he almost killed the examiner, who was a nobleman, and as a commoner, he was sentenced to a serious crime.

Later, the princess protected him under the pretense of "fun," and then, through some unknown means, he somehow managed to rejoin the Royal Guard and receive professional training.

When the future princess is crowned, I wonder if the kingdom will gain another earldom with an honorary title.

However, Tasha found this difficult, as she herself came from a humble background and had experienced the hardships of aristocracy.

That group of people can take advantage of an honest person without making a sound.

Perhaps the best outcome for him would be to remain forever as the princess's guard, without having to get involved in the cannibalistic games of the nobility.

Thinking about this reminded Tasha of another guy.

Smooth-talking, shameless, prone to boasting, and prone to lying without batting an eye.

Only those kinds of guys can really have the last laugh in this game...

The thought of that robed conman filled Tasha's previously calm heart with disgust and anger.

Suddenly, a small black dot appeared on the horizon, vaguely resembling a small boat.

"pilot!"

Tasha immediately cleared her mind and returned to the mission.

While she was calling out to the navigator to observe the target, she was also organizing the guards to prepare for battle.

Who knows whether what comes with the north wind is friend or foe?

……

Moments later, the two ships were quite close.

What reassured Tasha was that the ship made no attacking moves and there were hardly any people on the deck.

They then adjusted their course to align with the other ship, slowed down, and waited until the two ships were close enough before securing them with grappling hooks and ropes, finally joining each other on the sea.

The guards set up long planks, and Tasha, along with a few guards, stepped onto the other side's deck.

At this moment, everyone on the ship came out of the cabin.

Tasha looked around and saw that the people were ragged, emaciated, and of various races.

However, there were no sailors dressed as sailors, nor did anyone appear to be carrying weapons.

"Does anyone here speak the Common Language?"

……

A moment later, Tasha and the others returned to their ship on the long planks.

After releasing the grappling hook, the two ships quickly separated, with the other ship continuing its original trajectory southwestward.

"That's incredible..."

Kailyon exclaimed in amazement.

"A silver dragon attacked the slave merchant ship, then killed the slave traders, summoned a north wind, and sent the captured slaves back to the southwestern islands..."

"Silver dragons are dragons who love to uphold justice, so there's nothing surprising about that, is there?" Tasha replied casually.

"I'm not praising the Silver Dragon's actions, but rather referring to that north wind..."

Kylian opened his arms.

"A single north wind forced our fleet to turn back, but for that silver dragon, it was nothing more than a casual gesture. Just how powerful it must be!"

Tasha glanced at him. "You don't actually want to challenge that silver dragon, do you?"

"We can't beat them now, but I remember the princess really liked the story of the dragon knight..."

Kylian clenched his fist with a hint of longing. "One day, I will tame a dragon!"

It was all for the princess after all...

Tasha rolled her eyes slightly, too lazy to shatter his fantasy.

"Miss Tasha, the princess's mission is complete. Shall we now turn towards the shore?"

"No, didn't those slaves say that another ship was sent by the Silver Dragon to a bay in the north?"

"I remember there's only one famous bay around here, and there might be an old friend of mine there. We can go there to dock."
