Chinese professors at the Wizarding Academy

Chapter 6 "He's gone, death has come to favor you"

Jim curled up in the blankets, utterly exhausted, his consciousness shrouded in boundless darkness.

But the boundless darkness did not make him feel fear; instead, it made him feel safe.

Jim likes to sleep because when you're asleep, the whole world is no longer your concern.

No matter how painful the day is, or how much pressure you're under from studying, as long as you close your eyes, the night will pass...

During my first year at Grey Tower Academy, it was always cold.

There are no distinct seasons here, only perpetually low temperatures and freezing temperatures.

Jim didn't understand why; he had been completely bewildered since enrolling in school.

He was just a child from the slums, but he was forcibly abducted by the wizard in black robes. He couldn't even read many words, so he was forced to read those incomprehensible books.

A sixth-rank talent... He didn't like it, and he didn't understand it.

Why did he come?

Why should we learn it?

In the slums, at least there was kind old man Martin who made dark bread, and old woman Aya who wove cloth...

But there's nothing here.

Jim felt only wronged and sad.

"Waaah..."

Jim let out another unconscious sob. The boundless darkness in his sleep began to change, transforming into new scenes—scenes Jim would always hate.

A linen garment was tossed to him by the tall, black-robed man whose face was obscured, and then, in full view of everyone, he stripped naked and put it on.

Then he was kicked out and given only a token, which was carved from a piece of blackened wood and had the location of Jim's freshman dormitory engraved on it.

But he couldn't read and couldn't understand what was written on it...

We could only walk and walk... around many winding stone steps and walk along old stone paths covered with moss.

Jim remembers taking the wrong turn and stumbling into a dormitory that looked luxurious. The moment he saw the decor, he wanted to leave.

But the room was so warm; the heat emanating from just the windows was something he had never experienced before in his life.

Jim couldn't resist staying a little longer, wanting to lean against the wall a little longer, because it was so warm...

Then the door opened, and a man dressed in fine clothes came out. Jim knew he was an important person because the man was very large and his clothes were covered in gold thread...

He instinctively knelt down and kowtowed repeatedly, not daring to look up and look directly at his master, only able to call out "My lord, my lord" over and over again...

However, he was met with pain in his chin and shoe prints on his face, followed by a barrage of punches and kicks.

Jim curled up on the ground. He couldn't understand what the richly dressed man was saying, but he could tell that he was very angry and furious.

How could the language of the nobility be understood by the poor?

Jim didn't understand why he was being beaten; he just leaned against the wall for a while...

Do not,

He knows why.

Because it's only right and reasonable for important people to do this, it's simply what they should do.

I am lowly...

Fortunately, this man was a kind and gentle old man who only kicked him a few more times before ignoring Jim, who was curled up on the cold, damp floor.

The door slammed shut... It took Jim a long time before he dared to look up.

All he remembered was a sign hanging on the door with a neatly drawn, shining star on it.

Finally, the skinned puppets found Jim, forcibly dragged him along, and threw him into the dormitory.

Jim felt terrified; he had always been terrified of these skinned puppets—tall, silent, and incredibly strong…

When you're choking yourself

It hurts.

He huddled in a corner of the dormitory, waiting for several spells before shakily standing up.

Jim remembered the men in black robes saying there would be dormitories... This might be it?

He was so tired and exhausted, and his wounds were burning with pain. In the end, he couldn't hold on any longer and collapsed onto the bed.

The dormitories for sixth-class star freshmen are also single rooms, but they are very small, only big enough to fit a bed, with a toilet at the foot of the bed.

If you turn over in your sleep at night, there's a high chance you'll accidentally step your foot in.

But this is already much better than the slums.

He had never met his parents. His daily work consisted of shining shoes on the street, and he lived in a place where about twenty other people lived together.

Jim couldn't sleep; he was in terrible pain all over his body, and he couldn't stop crying, tears streaming down his face.

It's so cold here, so cold.

He now has his own bed, but Grandma Aya and Grandpa Martin will never again share a corner of the blanket with him.

After the first night, Jim, who hadn't slept well for too long, finally collapsed and overslept. In the end, he was dragged to class by the skinned skeleton.

He couldn't understand the book at all... he could only deduce the words from what was said in class.

And so, day after day passed, a whole year later, Jim had barely learned to read, and as for his mental strength... he made no progress whatsoever.

That's why Jim developed a liking for sleeping.

...He couldn't possibly do that. Those meditation techniques and spells are things that only important people dressed in fine clothes can learn.

Some classmates like to call themselves "good-for-nothings" and often beat him up, or rather, most of them beat him up.

Many of the new students with sixth-rank star talent come from noble families and have been fed various supplements since birth.

Jim would be ridiculed as soon as he went to class, and beaten as soon as get out of class ended.

He accepted it, because that's just who he is; he doesn't deserve these things.

Jim knew he was a jerk.

"...Waaah... Waaah..."

But for some reason, tears welled up in Jim's eyes.

A few faint sobs came from under the covers, sounding muffled, but the sorrow could not be contained by the blanket.

His consciousness slowly withdrew from those terrifying past events and returned to reality.

"Gu Chen, Master Gu Chen?"

"Teacher Gu Chen?"

When Jim woke up, he found himself lying in a bed much larger than himself, covered with a thin but much thicker blanket than before.

Dark flowers have already bloomed on the quilt, but this quilt should not be decorated at all.

It's so warm.

The windows were tightly closed, the doors were also securely shut, and there was no smell of excrement...

Jim instinctively shrank deeper into the blankets; it was so warm… he loved it.

He subconsciously called out to Gu Chen.

Like a puppy curled up in its den, the voice calling for Gu Chen was faint, yet... so clear.

But there was no response from inside the house.

Jim regained consciousness instantly, and he immediately crawled out of the covers, the sound of his knees hitting the ground clearly audible.

"Teacher, I'm so sorry!"

"I didn't mean to sleep in your bed! I... I even got your blankets dirty!"

There was still no response from inside the house. Jim lay on the floor pleading, tears streaming down his face, and dark flowers bloomed on the floor.

How could I possibly sleep in the wizard's bed!

You still dare to cry?

This will dirty the wizard's bed!

Jim kept begging for mercy, his voice gradually fading until it stopped.

There has been no response for a long time.

Jim finally opened his eyes in fear.

Only then did he see...

There were two lines of blood on the floor, one of which was dark like a deep red gemstone, only slightly seeping into the doorway.

The other one was bright red, like a venomous snake spitting its tongue as it rushed in. They twisted and stretched, eventually intertwining to form several lines of ferocious characters.

"He's not in now."

"Death has come to favor you~"

Jim's face was ashen!
