Chapter 8 The Mind Wizard, Ken
"cough!"
Alyssa coughed up a mouthful of blood, which stained her black veil. Compared to her bright red lips, the blood looked rather unattractive at that moment.
"...How could that be?"
The unexpected situation disrupted Alyssa's plans; she had just been trying to drain Jim's blood.
For a mid-level first-circle wizard, this was a piece of cake.
Wizards who have reached the transcendent realm, even the lowest-ranking first-level wizards, can easily take the life of a mortal!
But it was interrupted!
But how could that be?
Alyssa clearly sensed that an extremely domineering magical force had just struck, its power so overwhelming that the blood flowing in her veins no longer obeyed her commands and was instead ordered by that magical force to leave her body!
She quickly manipulated her magic to suppress it, but the price was that she consumed one-tenth of her magic reserves!
She tried to sense the source of the magic, spreading her mental energy outwards, but she couldn't sense anything!
There was no sign of any spellcasting, making it impossible to track further.
"How could this be? How is this possible? How could I not feel anything?"
A look of shock flashed in Alyssa's eyes... The attack she had just suffered was clearly blood draining...
This kind of magic will always leave a trace whenever it is used!
Unless... unless... unless some special concealment method was used.
But that's definitely not something a first-ring wizard could get!
or……
"Or perhaps his understanding and mastery of magic is so profound that you simply cannot comprehend it."
"This situation is very likely to occur if one wizard has a higher level of mastery of magic than another wizard."
Ultimately... it's because he utilizes magic more efficiently and has stronger control over his mental energy when casting spells.
Then another wizard, dressed in black robes and with a burly build, spoke up.
The voice was captivating, like a solid, unyielding rock, but Alyssa knew it was just a facade, a trick used by mind wizards to lower one's guard.
"Are you kidding me?"
"Ken?"
Upon hearing the reply from the mind wizard she called "Ken," Alyssa's eyes darted around, her breath mingling with the scent of perfume, and a speechless smile appeared on her face.
"Grey Tower Academy only has two Blood Wizards who haven't reached the first-tier high level: me and Gu Chen."
"Even I couldn't do that... Gu Chen?"
"Impossible! I'm an expert in blood absorption, how could I not sense his spell?!"
Alyssa's eyes were bloodshot. She had just been attacked by a wizard of the same school... to absorb blood and replenish herself!
Just as she said, there are only two Blood Wizards in Gray Tower Academy who are still below the first-level high rank: Gu Chen and Alyssa.
Although it's hard to believe, from a rational deductive perspective, whether it's the type of spell or the reason for its use,
Only Gu Chen knows how to use blood magic to attack her!
But... that's impossible, isn't it?
Gu Chen, that good-for-nothing with only a sixth-rank talent, whose blood-draining spell, the most basic of blood wizards, was only at the beginner level, how could he possibly use such exquisite methods and techniques to activate it on Alyssa without her even noticing or reacting at all...
And so domineering?
"Don't bother me! He can't do it! It was just my mistake!"
"Blood tracing!"
Alyssa's voice rose several octaves, her words filled with anger, and she turned her head sharply.
After scanning her surroundings but finding no one, and realizing she couldn't detect anyone with the naked eye, she immediately used her second mastery-level spell—"Blood Tracking".
As the name suggests, she can track people by the bloodstains they leave behind.
As long as the blood wizard who uses blood tracking has a high enough sensitivity to blood, they can find the source of the virus by following the scent of even a single drop of blood!
As her magic was depleted again, Alyssa's eyes turned bloodshot, and several large, scarlet blobs began to appear in her vision, along with a bloodline floating in the air.
They were all bright red without exception.
When Alyssa saw the stain and the line of blood, she was even more furious!
Because this all represents herself, and that blob represents the blood she just coughed up.
There's still one health bar left...
"This is the blood that was just drained from me... I'll follow the trail to find you! Don't let me find you, or I'll drain you dry!"
Alyssa's plan was very simple: she would use "blood tracking" to track her own blood and find out where her blood had just been sucked.
Therefore, we can also identify the villain who is currently attacking her from the shadows!
"Okay... triggered by this pool of blood on the ground... How could this be!?"
The line of blood extended to the pool of blood that Gu Chen had coughed up and spilled on the ground. Alyssa hadn't even reacted when she saw it, and after a few seconds of stunned silence, she suddenly exclaimed:
"This is impossible! Even if I've mastered blood absorption, I still can't cast spells using blood from outside my body!"
"Even if it's done remotely... it's only up to 50 meters!"
Blood tracing has thus completely lost its tracking function!
Because the spell was cast using the pool of blood left behind, not from fresh blood from the body.
Alyssa was filled with shock.
As a blood sorceress herself, she knew all too well how shocking this was!
Blood sorcerers only need blood to cast spells.
But most of them use their own fresh blood.
This makes the spells more spiritual and more effective.
Old blood often loses its spirituality, and the magic flowing in it is quickly swallowed up by the world and dissipates into the air.
High-level wizards have a greater control over magic and can use other methods to prevent magic from being lost...
They can use blood that isn't so fresh, or other people's blood, or even blood that isn't so fresh, or leftover blood, to cast spells...
However, that's because high-level blood wizards have extremely strong mental power and use magic with exquisite precision!
Their mastery of magic has become much deeper!
"Gu Chen couldn't have done that, Ken! Let's conduct a mind search; maybe he just used some evil magic to prematurely deplete something else!"
"...No wonder you did this, so you're selling yourself again!"
Alyssa was now incredibly ferocious. Tonight, she and Ken came to assassinate Gu Chen's apprentice. The only one willing to stop them and attack them was Gu Chen!
But Alyssa refused to believe it. You mean, in just a few hours, a nobody with the worst talent suddenly has a better grasp of magic than me?
Is this scientific?
"Ken?"
"Look for it!"
Alyssa waited for Ken's reply, but the tall man remained silent.
"I refuse."
"Slave contracts do not contain such provisions."
"And... you're so noisy. I'm a first-ring high-level wizard, and I have some initial authority to discipline you. I want you to shut up."
"Assassinate the target, kill."
"I will protect you."
