Dawn of Life
Chapter 11 Brand Promotion
Zhang Wei's recent actions all stem from his resentment. The project that originally belonged to him is now thriving under Lin Yue's management. Moreover, the most difficult first phase of the project is over, and the second phase involves making a name for himself right under the boss's nose.
There are four managers at the same level as Lin Yue in the Human Resources Department. They are Qian Minmin, the Compensation and Performance Manager for the COE team; Zhang Wei, the Training Manager; and Ye Ke, the Corporate Culture Manager. The SSC (Social Security Center) is responsible for social security, onboarding and offboarding procedures, personnel files, etc. The work is tedious and lacks technical content. Currently, there is no manager there, just one supervisor leading three recent graduates. The SSC and Compensation and Performance Managers collaborate frequently and have a good relationship.
If we had to choose one person from these managers to serve as HRD, Lin Yue and Zhang Wei would be more likely. Qian Minmin has high professional requirements, but she is not good at overall coordination; while Ye Ke, in addition to having a relatively narrow professional background, is also an expectant mother and just wants to "lie down" right now.
Before the meeting, Zhang Wei and Qian Minmin reached a consensus to take over the final work of the project, so that the results of the entire project could be included in their annual OKRs (OKRs) evaluation. Such an important project, with such a significant contribution, would definitely earn him a high performance score, thus increasing his chances of getting the HRD position.
The words stunned everyone in the conference room. Xiaoyu couldn't help but whisper to Yuehua sitting next to her, "When Sister Lin reported on the project progress at the weekly meetings, Zhang Wei and Qian Minmin looked incredibly excited, confidently saying that once the first phase of the project was finished, their department would immediately pick up the pace and get to work. Why can't they do it now?"
Zhang Wei looked up at Shengxing, then turned his gaze to Lin Yue, and said, word by word, "The company has over a thousand employees and more than twenty job families. For example, administration, human resources, and finance have different professional requirements and organizational development needs. Each job family has four job levels. Even for the same position, the ability requirements are different at different levels. With so many differences, it's impossible to create a customized training program."
After speaking, she exchanged a glance with Qian Minmin. As if receiving some kind of signal, Qian Minmin turned her head to look at Lin Yue and said, "This job level system is too complicated. I can't stretch my salary range at all, and I can't determine the percentile."
After hearing Zhang Wei and Qian Minmin's reasons, Sheng Xing also turned to look straight at Lin Yue, hoping she could provide a solution. The team members were all confused, let alone Sheng Xing, who didn't understand at all.
The atmosphere of the entire meeting plummeted to freezing point. Everyone remained silent, waiting. Some were watching with amusement, while others were genuinely worried.
Although Lin Yue has been an HRBP for many years, she has never slacked off in her professional skills across all HR modules. No matter how busy she is with work and life, she always makes time to enhance her professional abilities. Before getting married, she successfully obtained her Level 2 Human Resources Management Certificate, and before having her son, Xiaoyu, she frequently attended offline HR workshops. After having Xiaoyu, she had even less time, so she would listen to HR micro-courses while doing housework or driving.
Therefore, Qin Lan often entrusts her with important projects, and those two questions were nothing to her.
Lin Yue tidied her hair, revealing her smooth forehead to make herself look more capable.
Then, she scanned the room and began to speak methodically: "Zhang Wei is right. This time, the job families and job levels in the 'Competency Model' are written in great detail. The purpose of this is to ensure that every employee clearly understands the competency requirements of their current job level and what competency they need to acquire to advance to the next level. So, my team and I have spent a lot of time on this."
"However, Zhang Wei's statement about not having a statutory training plan is a completely different concept. The only skills that the business departments need the HR department to train are general skills, which are the skills that all employees in the company need to possess under the current business environment. Currently, only ten of these have been identified in the project, such as communication skills and coordination skills. Professional skills need to be delegated to the team or some courses need to be purchased. Zhang Wei only needs to coordinate them."
She paused, then turned to Qian Minmin: "As for how to design the salary scheme's percentiles and bandwidth, that's your expertise, so I don't need to elaborate. I just want to tell you that I've looked at the current job levels after the assessment and matched them with our existing salary system. Less than 10% of them are above the upper limit or below the lower limit. These are precisely the people we hired at the beginning of the project who were either overpaid or were hired due to urgent business needs. This proves that our assessment conclusions are very reasonable."
After she finished speaking, Lin Yue saw that Zhang Wei and Qian Minmin looked very unhappy, while Sheng Xing, who had just been frowning, had now completely relaxed.
Lin Yue leaned forward slightly, stared at Zhang Wei, and added, "If you can't handle these, I can take on these two projects. Just transfer your team members to me as project members."
The expression was powerful and well-reasoned, and it ended with a devastating blow.
Qian Minmin and Zhang Wei looked at each other, completely unsure how to respond.
The company had never done any of these three projects before. In the past, the projects that Qin Lan had Lin Yue work on were mostly related to overall coordination, such as talent inventory and project review. She didn't expect Lin Yue to be able to offer such unique insights into projects with such a high level of expertise.
Lin Yue felt refreshed as she left the meeting room. Several of her team members followed her and whispered cheerfully in her ear, "Sister Lin, you were amazing!"
At this meeting, Lin Yue also promoted her brand, allowing her boss and the entire team to see her capabilities. Now, not only her own team members, but even a few people in the shared service center are talking privately that if the HRD had to choose one person from several department managers, then Lin Yue would undoubtedly be the most suitable, as she not only understands the business but also has excellent professional skills.
A beautiful smile curved her lips. She went to her workstation, put down her computer, picked up her charging phone, and suddenly her face darkened. There were over a dozen missed calls from after-school care teachers on her phone; she quickly dialed them back.
The after-school care teacher sounded panicked: "Xiaoyu's mother, we haven't been able to contact you. Xiaoyu is missing."
Lin Yue's mind went blank for a moment. She braced herself against the table next to her to steady herself, and after a long pause, she managed to squeeze out a few words: "I'm coming right away."
