Dawn of Life

Chapter 16 Head-on Confrontation

Zhang Wei: "What are you guys talking about, and why have you been talking for so long?"

Qian Minmin: "It's just normal work communication. General Manager Lin will talk to all the managers, and he should contact you soon."

Zhang Wei stared at the Feishu message, filled with confusion and a hint of resentment.

Why does her tone sound like a completely different person? It's obvious she's trying to distance herself from him. Just yesterday, the two of them were questioning Lin Yue's professional abilities and how she could manage the human resources department so well. But after only an hour of talking, she's already addressing him respectfully as "General Manager Lin."

Just then, he saw Lin Yue walking over. The moment their eyes met, his heart tightened, and he felt a strange sense of anticipation, wondering what Lin Yue would want to talk to him about.

However, he couldn't detect any expression on Lin Yue's face; she showed absolutely no intention of contacting him. And even after she had talked to everyone and several days had passed, she still hadn't reached out to him. He had been agonizing over how to deal with Lin Yue's possible advances, thinking about how to expose her empty promises, but now he was the one feeling somewhat uneasy.

A few days ago, Yin Jie came to question him: "Last time I listened to your advice and assigned extremely unreasonable job titles to the team members. If I actually submit this, I will definitely get a severe scolding from the boss."

Zhang Wei had only given Yin Jie a few perfunctory words at the time, not taking the matter to heart at all. He knew that Lin Yue was someone who didn't like to cause conflict, and since the matter had already been resolved, she probably wouldn't come looking for him to confront him again.

But now, Zhang Wei couldn't help but worry. They say a woman's heart is unfathomable, so would she hold a grudge against him over these trivial matters? He secretly speculated that Lin Yue had just taken office and would be mindful of the team and the boss's influence, so she probably wouldn't really do anything to him. But if she wanted to find something to make things difficult for him, it would be a piece of cake.

With this in mind, Zhang Wei decided to take the initiative.

He walked straight to Lin Yue's side and said, "President Lin, Qian Minmin told me you're going to talk to all the managers. When do you plan to talk to me? I'd like to arrange a time in advance."

After a long pause, Lin Yue finally looked away from the computer screen and slowly turned to Zhang Wei, replying with a half-smile, "Oh yeah, it seems I haven't contacted you yet. But I have a meeting coming up soon, how about 4 PM? I'm quite busy, so remember to send me the meeting schedule in advance."

Zhang Wei stood there stunned for several seconds. He noticed the gazes of the people around him and immediately felt that he had made a fool of himself. He then turned around and left dejectedly.

Lin Yue's attitude towards Zhang Wei was indeed intentional.

She wanted to make it clear to Zhang Wei and the rest of the team how she would treat someone who repeatedly caused trouble. Of course, she always focused on the issue, not the person; Qian Minmin's situation was a matter of the issue, while Zhang Wei's had escalated to a personal matter. Although she wasn't one to hold grudges, she needed to take this opportunity to give Zhang Wei and the team a warning, reminding everyone to be more discreet in their actions.

Another important reason is that she can genuinely handle the workload Zhang Wei has on hand. Training work is essentially just icing on the cake for the business departments; for the current needs, she only needs to make the scene look lively and engaging.

Training objectives can be tiered. The initial level is to create a learning atmosphere, and in the current organizational environment, achieving this level of objective is sufficient.

While Lin Yue was looking at a proposal in the afternoon, she received a message on her phone. It was a voice message from Xiaoyu's Little Genius Watch, asking if she could let her grandmother go home, leaving only her grandfather in Hangzhou to take care of him.

Lin Yue quickly returned the call. On the phone, Xiao Yu said with a wronged expression, "I don't like Grandma. Grandma is always scolding me."

Since Liu Cuiying and Lin Haifeng came to Hangzhou, Lin Yue has had to worry about most things at home. However, it seems that the honeymoon period has recently passed, and they have entered a period of adjustment. Liu Cuiying's views on life and education are clearly incompatible with hers.

For example, Liu Cuiying always cooks a very large portion of food, as if she's afraid they won't have enough to eat. She can't bear to throw away the leftovers, so she'll just add some fresh vegetables to the leftovers and cook them together for the next meal. Lin Yue feels like she's eating leftovers every day, but she gets very unhappy whenever Liu Cuiying is mentioned.

In addition, I often had friction with Liu Cuiying over various trivial matters. Human resources work involves either meetings or traveling to meetings every day. We have to talk a lot at the company and continue talking even at home, which feels like working overtime.

Liu Cuiying, however, was an extremely sharing person. Having just arrived in a strange place, she was looking forward to sharing many new things with Lin Yue when she got home from get off work. But Lin Yue genuinely had no interest in the gossip and trivial matters of the neighborhood.

Liu Cuiying quickly realized Lin Yue's perfunctory attitude and began to complain: "I gave up my comfortable and carefree life in my hometown to help you take care of the children, but I didn't even get a kind word in return."

Lin Yue really doesn't have the energy to cater to Liu Cuiying right now. Sometimes, when she gets home from get off work, she doesn't even want to go straight upstairs. Instead, she drives her car to the underground garage, turns off the engine, and prefers to sit in the car for a while.

What happened between Xiaoyu and me today? I've been so busy figuring out how to deal with my mother lately that I haven't noticed any significant conflict between her and Xiaoyu.

While Lin Yue was still in a daze, a meeting schedule reminder popped up on Feishu, informing her that she would be meeting with Zhang Wei in five minutes. Immediately afterward, she received a private message from Zhang Wei: "President Lin, I'm already waiting for you in the [Full Moon Pavilion] conference room."

She quickly composed herself, closed her laptop, and headed towards the Full Moon Pavilion.

Zhang Wei is a training instructor by training, but his ability to build training systems and deliver solutions is not very strong, which is why he can't take on projects like the "Competency Model" course. However, he is a good lecturer, especially adept at controlling the atmosphere in the classroom.

Therefore, people in the business team who are not familiar with him are often intimidated by him and will respectfully call him Teacher Zhang when they meet. He enjoys this feeling, and over time, his self-esteem has improved. Everyone has their own survival rules in the workplace.

After Lin Yue's cold treatment over the past few days, Zhang Wei's mentality has been quietly changing.

At first, he thought Lin Yue would win him over in the same way she won over Qian Minmin, but later he realized that he had overestimated himself.

He couldn't help but think that Lin Yue had just been promoted to this position by her boss and was still in the honeymoon phase, so he couldn't confront her directly during this period. He had to observe for a while before making any moves. After all, he still had a family to support; his wife worked in operations at an internet company and had just been laid off.

Lin Yue pushed open the door and walked into the conference room. Zhang Wei reflexively jumped up from his chair and greeted her with a big smile, "President Lin."

Lin Yue was taken aback, then held back her laughter: "Zhang Wei, we've been colleagues for three years now, when did you become so polite? Please sit down."
