Alien creatures destroy homes? Start by killing upright apes!

Chapter 30 We made the wrong choice, Lu Cheng made the right one.

A photo was attached showing the coffin with the words "Carrie's Tomb" written on it that had been moved from the entrance of the presidential palace.

It wasn't the government that moved it; it was the same group of people who carried the coffin there who moved it themselves.

In the photo, several burly men are carrying a coffin, walking with their heads down. A new line of words has been written on the coffin in chalk:

It was our fault.

The front page of the newspaper in the Winner Monkey Kingdom featured a close-up of a water dragon.

Its round body, large fangs pointing skyward, and eyes devoid of any intelligence, only blankness.

The caption for the photo reads: "It won't replace us, it will only dig holes."

The following is the full text of the Burrowing Treaty.

Lu Cheng stacked the seven newspapers together and placed them on the corner of his desk.

Carrie glanced at it when she came in to serve tea.

"Keep it as a souvenir?"

"Keep this as evidence. If anyone says I made the wrong choice in the future, I'll slap this stack of newspapers in their face."

Carrie smiled, but the smile didn't last long.

Because the skylight system lit up that night.

The light screen paused for five seconds.

[Homo erectus - Supplementary content follows]

[It has been confirmed that the Homo erectus has mastered the following new abilities: basic metallurgy (copper tools have been manufactured), symbolic writing (abstract symbols have appeared to express concrete concepts), and architectural planning (multi-story stone structures have been constructed).]

[Physiopterus Stage 3 Projection Update - Projection Complete.]

Phase Three: Disguise.

There were only two words on the screen.

But those two words sent chills down my spine more than all the previous announcements combined.

Lu Cheng put down his teacup, looked at the two words, and his eyes twitched slightly.

Twenty-four days ago at the first meeting, he said that upright apes would begin to disguise themselves as humans in about one hundred days.

This was actually just one of his boldest guesses.

It can even be used to intimidate other countries.

but.

The system now gives the same assessment, and it uses the phrase "estimated completion".

This indicates that this is not a warning, but a confirmation.

……

Taro Tanuki Country, Kyoto.

Massa squatted on the construction site in the backyard of the official residence.

This isn't a metaphor; I was literally squatting.

Before him was a baby water dragon, just airlifted from the Kingdom of Winners. It was round and plump, its large fangs not yet fully grown, and only the size of an adult's palm, looking like a potato with teeth.

The water dragon cub stared blankly at the middle-aged man squatting in front of it, then lowered its head and slashed at the dry landscape garden that Massa had meticulously maintained.

Gravel flew everywhere.

Massa's eyebrow twitched.

Professor Yamamoto stood to the side, holding a notebook: "Prime Minister, the excavation of the first water dragon has begun, at a depth of twenty centimeters."

"What about speed?"

"It's a bit slower than the standards in the UK, probably because I'm in a new environment."

Massa stood up and watched as the water dragon cub dug a hole in the dry landscape, then stuck its nose into the hole and probed it, probably to assess the soil quality.

After making the judgment, continue digging.

The movements were clumsy, but the direction was clear—downward.

"Dig," Massa said. "Let it dig. It doesn't matter if it digs up the whole yard."

Professor Yamamoto hesitated for a moment: "Prime Minister, this garden has a history of six hundred years..."

"If the Taro Tanuki Kingdom still exists six hundred years from now, this garden can be renovated. If the Taro Tanuki Kingdom is gone, will this garden be left as a park for the upright apes?"

Professor Yamamoto fell silent.

Massa turned and left the courtyard, but stopped after a few steps and looked back at the water dragon cub that was struggling to dig a hole in the dry landscape garden.

It had dug a hole half a meter in diameter, its whole head was inside, and only its round buttocks and two hind legs were sticking out, its hind legs still kicking hard.

It was truly ugly, but when Massa looked at it, the corner of his mouth twitched involuntarily.

This was the first time in nearly a month that he felt the urge to laugh.

……

Meanwhile, in the Kingdom of New York, on the outskirts of the foggy city.

David stood on a barren field, before him were twelve water dragon cubs that had just been transported from the Kingdom of Winner Monkeys.

Twelve round, ugly creatures squatted in a wooden box, their large fangs not yet fully grown, staring blankly at this unfamiliar land.

The First Minister of the Navy stood to the side, his expression subtle.

"Prime Minister, are we really going to dig? The geological conditions in Chongqing are not very suitable for underground engineering. There have been collapses in the past when subways were dug."

"Dig." Prime Minister David squatted down and opened the first wooden box.

"The Tyrese River has been chewed up by the Tyrell fish, the port is closed, and inland shipping is cut off. On the surface, the nation of John Bull is being trapped by a fish, and underground is our only way out."

He reached out and took the first water dragon cub out of the wooden box.

The water dragon cub wriggled in his arms, its large fangs poking David's chin. It didn't hurt, but it tickled a little.

David put it on the wasteland, and it circled around blankly twice before looking down and swatting at the ground with its paw.

Dirt splashed everywhere.

The first water dragon beast began digging a hole in the land of the fog city.

David squatted down and watched for a long time, then stood up and said to the First Lord of the Navy:

"Notify the engineering department to design the underground network according to the unified standards of the Underground Treaty. The depth, width, ventilation, and drainage should all be copied from the Winners' Kingdom."

"And these twelve water dragon beasts..."

"Let them dig! Send the excavated soil to the lab to analyze the slime composition, and use the holes they dig as the starting point for the underground network. Also!" David paused, "order another two hundred from the Winner Monkey Kingdom."

……

Sam Eagle Kingdom, Waimeming Plain.

Wood stood on the ruins of a town trampled flat by a Tyrannosaurus Rex, with three Water Dragon cubs, just airlifted from the Kingdom of Winner Monkeys, crouching in front of him.

Three round, ugly things squatted in the rubble of the ruins, looking around blankly.

Collapsed houses, broken railway tracks, and the huge footprints left by a Tyrannosaurus Rex in the distance.

Wood's defense secretary stood to the side, his face contorted in a constipated expression.

"Mr. President, the Tyrannosaurus Rex's skeletal reinforcement is complete; heavy machine guns can't penetrate it at all. The Grimoena has completely severed the Far East Railway, and the Giant Dragonfly snatched one of our mail airships this morning. Are we going to introduce a Pyromaniae to dig a tunnel now...? Isn't that too late?"
