"This is one of the three medals," Elliott said, holding the medal in his hand.

Fang Qingzhou took the lion medal, weighed it in his hand; the bronze was quite heavy. He carefully put the medal into his inner pocket and asked again.

"Where should we go to look for the next one?"

"Let's go to the waiting room now. That's where I used to work. I have a key to it, and there should be something useful inside," Elliott said as he walked forward.

Fang Qingzhou finally understood why Elliott's marksmanship was so poor, and that he had been chased all over the corridor by a zombie earlier. It turned out he was an office worker, but only an office worker like him could understand the workings of the police station.

"After the zombie outbreak, in order to prevent zombies from breaking in, the police station locked and sealed off all the doors of the rooms. Now most rooms require a special key to open, but now all the other police officers are dead, and we don't know where those keys went."

Soon Elliott reached a door at the end of the corridor, took out his key, and opened it.

The lights were still on in the reception room, and there were no signs of a struggle, as if nothing had happened.

Elliott looked longingly at the reception room, which was exactly the same as before the disaster. Although only a few days had passed, it felt like a lifetime had gone by.

However, Fang Qingzhou turned his gaze to a potted green plant on the table next to him.

The plant was emitting a faint light; the skill "Li Sanguang" had been activated, indicating that the plant had been deemed useful.

"These are herbs from the Arklay Mountains. They come in three colors: green, red, and blue," Elliott explained, noticing Fang Qingzhou's gaze.

"Green herbs can treat external injuries; they can be applied to the wound or taken orally, and the effect is very good. Blue herbs can treat symptoms of poisoning. Red herbs are not very effective when taken alone, but when mixed with other herbs, their effects can be greatly enhanced."

"Are there many herbs?" Fang Qingzhou asked.

"There are quite a lot of these herbs in the nearby Akurey Mountains. People often go there to collect them. Recently, these herbs have been added to restaurant food and roadside ice cream, and they taste pretty good. I heard that the Umbrella Corporation is cultivating these herbs on a large scale to make first aid sprays."

Elliott seemed to remember something, and his mood darkened again: "Sheriff Marvin goes to eat this kind of ice cream with herbs every day with his daughter. Maybe it's because he ate so much of this green herb that he didn't immediately turn into a zombie."

Fang Qingzhou didn't know how to respond to this, so he just kept plucking the leaves of the green herb and putting them into his pocket.

Elliott didn't say anything more, but instead crawled under the desk and did something.

Fang Qingzhou quickly turned his attention to something else, a city brochure that read:

Welcome to Raccoon City!

"This is the headquarters of the pharmaceutical giant Umbrella Corporation. Raccoon City is a vibrant and dynamic city with a rich and profound history. In this brochure, we will introduce you to some of the city's must-see attractions."

Fang Qingzhou flipped through the city brochure, which detailed the Raccoon City Police Department and the orphanage not far from it.

Just then, Elliott stood beside Fang Qingzhou again. He glanced at the brochure in Fang Qingzhou's hand and said, "Raccoon City used to be just an ordinary town, but everything has changed since the Umbrella Corporation came here."

"The Umbrella Corporation has set up many factories here, attracting many people to work here. Moreover, the Umbrella Corporation is very generous and has donated a lot of money to urban development, allowing Raccoon City to grow into a city of 100,000 people."

"At its peak, 50 percent of the city's population were employees of the Umbrella Corporation, and another 50 percent served these employees and tourists."

"Wouldn't that mean that in Raccoon City, the Umbrella Corporation's influence is more effective than the government's?" Fang Qingzhou said.

"Yes, Raccoon City is basically controlled by the Umbrella Corporation. The police chief and the mayor are both Umbrella Corporation's lackeys." Elliott snorted dismissively, then handed a long, black object to Fang Qingzhou.

"Here, take this. I see you're using the Matilda gun; you should need this."

Fang Qingzhou took the object and discovered that it was actually a muzzle brake for a pistol. Installing this on a pistol could reduce recoil and muzzle jump.

He couldn't wait to install the muzzle brake; it was a really good thing that could increase his combat effectiveness.

"Alright, there's nothing usable around here. Let's go back to the main hall now," Elliott said.

Fang Qingzhou nodded. He put Matilda, with the muzzle brake installed, back into the holster, and then touched the Lion Medal and the handful of green herbs in his pocket, feeling much more at ease.

With a muzzle brake, the stability of subsequent shots is greatly improved, increasing the chances of victory against zombies and more powerful monsters. In addition, there are health potions to restore health, so injuries won't hurt as much.

The two left the reception room and returned to the lobby via the same route.

Sergeant Marvin was still sitting in that chair, holding his pistol with the muzzle pointing to the ground. Hearing footsteps, he looked up at them, then struggled to stand up slowly and asked.

"How's it going? Did you find the badge?"

"Found one." Fang Qingzhou nodded, then took out the lion medal and placed it in the three slots of the goddess statue next to him.

Soon, the base of the goddess statue began to move; a mechanism started to turn, seemingly to open a passage, but it stopped after opening only a little, clearly requiring more badges to fully open it.

"It seems my guess was right!" Elliott exclaimed excitedly when he saw the mechanism react, but his face quickly darkened again.

"However, the next badge won't be so easy to get. We'll have to go to the other side of the hall to get it, since the zombies there haven't been cleared out yet."

"Approximately how many zombies are there?" Fang Qingzhou asked.

"I...I don't know. The last time I passed by there, there were at least twenty of them blocking the corridor, and some room doors were broken open. There must be more inside. They may have dispersed in the past few days, or they may have gathered in more numbers. I'm not sure."

More than twenty.

Fang Qingzhou fought eight of them in the corridor. He almost died that time. He's gotten a little stronger now, but he doesn't know if he can win.
