Full-Time Magister: Dark Throne

Chapter 23 The Three-Year Agreement, Heavy Rain

Time flies, and Mo Fan's three-year promise is almost here.

Inside the principal's office at Tianlan Magic High School, He An and Mo Fan were drinking tea.

"Our Bo City has some special resources that are specifically provided to students who are about to enter the magic academy. Unfortunately, there is only one spot per year, and they have to compete with the children of aristocratic families." Principal Zhu looked at He An with some regret.

Tianlan Magic High School hasn't won this spot from aristocratic families for a long time.

As the most outstanding student of Tianlan Magic High School in recent years, He An was originally the most promising person in this year's class to obtain the qualification of the Earthly Holy Spring.

Unfortunately, he gave that spot to Mo Fan.

"Principal Zhu, is this Earthly Holy Spring very powerful?" Mo Fan asked.

"The reason why our Bo City can stand out among the surrounding small towns is because of the nourishment of the Earthly Holy Spring for thousands of years. It has nurtured many magical geniuses for us, including many powerful mid-level and high-level mages." Deng Kai answered the question on behalf of Principal Zhu.

"Is it that powerful?" Mo Fan hesitated for a moment. "Old He, why don't you use this Earthly Holy Spring? You are the real magic genius, and you need the resources more."

He made the bet just to spite that old dog Mu, and Mo Fan felt a little guilty if it meant taking away his good brother's magical resources.

Not to mention that He An is an orphan who grew up on the charity of many families and got here entirely through his talent and hard work. If he were to steal even this, Mo Fan felt he would wake up in the middle of the night feeling guilty and give him a good beating.

Hearing Mo Fan's words, He An felt a warm current surge in his heart.

This is the Mo Fan he knows, who always puts his brothers first!

"This is your resource, make good use of it!" He An glanced at the little mudfish pendant on Mo Fan's chest. "I have other resources, but compared to me, you need this one more."

He An didn't actually not want it, but taking away the Earthly Sacred Spring, a resource that belonged exclusively to Mo Fan, might cause all sorts of trouble later on!

Mo Fan wanted to say something more, but Deng Kai interrupted him.

"Mo Fan, you don't need to take the outcome of this match too seriously. The resources and training that the disciples of aristocratic families and students from our school receive are different. It will be good for you to realize this sooner rather than later."

"..."

Listening to Principal Zhu and Deng Kai's instruction to Mo Fan, He An turned his gaze to the window, as if he could already see the variegated raindrops tapping on the principal's office window.

Two days later, the Mu family manor was bustling with activity, with a constant stream of visitors and vehicles.

Several days ago, the Mu family had already sent out invitations, and one after another, prominent figures from Bocheng came to offer their congratulations. One after another, luxury cars whose names were unknown drove in along the winding mountain road.

Yang Zuohe from the Magic Association, Principal Zhu from Tianlan Magic High School, Deng Kai and Li Hao from the Hunter Alliance...

And there's also the shameless Military Intelligence Bureau's Zhan Kong at the Xuefeng Mountain Post Station!

He An watched as Zhan Kong snatched a chicken leg from under his chopsticks, his mind filled with utter malice.

Can't you, a military intelligence officer at Xuefeng Mountain Post Station and the head of the Bocheng Military Headquarters, be a little more normal?

They're even fighting over a chicken leg that's right under their own students' chopsticks?!

"Hey? Old He? Chief Instructor, you're here to freeload too?" Mo Fan popped out from the side and greeted him.

"Not only that, they've all come." He An smiled and pointed behind Mo Fan.

A boy who looked like a mud monkey patted Mo Fan's shoulder.

"Monkeys? Zhou Min, He Yu, Xu Zhaoting... why are you all here?" Mo Fan was somewhat surprised.

"Brother Fan, we're here to cheer you on!" Zhang Xiaohou held up several light sticks he'd somehow acquired, and even a support sign powered by a light magic stone that read, "Mo Fan, the strongest!"

There was a huge pink heart drawn in the middle. Mo Fan glanced at it and almost got cringeworthy.

"Ahem, well, I appreciate the sentiment, but you don't need the support sign." Mo Fan coughed a few times. Wouldn't he be mortified if his wife saw this? It would definitely be a dark moment in his life!

"These were all custom-made at a high price by me, how can you just say you don't need them?" He An said with a smile as he stood up.

After the banquet came the long-awaited magic duel, and everyone took their seats in the spectator stands.

Mo Fan stood in the center of the oval arena early on, while Yu Ang changed into a flamboyant white dress before appearing, his icy demeanor instantly attracting the attention of countless girls.

Mo Fan, standing opposite, rolled his eyes. His assessment was: Not as good as one of my husband Lao He's!

As a witness to the duel, Deng Kai was invited by Mu Zhuoyun to go on stage to act as a referee.

He An, on the other hand, never expected that Mu Zhuoyun would place him beside him to watch the game.

"Looks like this old man is trying to win me over," He An thought to himself.

Unfortunately, his skill level is too low; the only thing he can be proud of is his daughter.

"Both of you are the pride of the younger generation in Bo City. This duel is only for mutual learning and encouragement. You should stop here when you've reached your limit!" Deng Kai said in the center of the dueling arena, his voice loud enough to cover the entire arena.

After shaking hands, the "three-year agreement" began in front of thousands of spectators at the manor.

"Duel, begin!" Deng Kai commanded, thus initiating the magical duel.

"Sizzle, burn!"

Deng Kai's voice was still echoing in his ears when Mo Fan had already connected the star track, and a crimson flame was flung towards Yu Ang.

Yu Ang snorted coldly and used ice vines to freeze the ground.

The two went back and forth, but it was clear that Mo Fan was more skilled, forcing his opponent to use several magical artifacts without using any of them.

"That's enough!" Yu Ang's voice rang out amidst the flames.

"It's actually a magical armor!" someone who knew its value exclaimed.

"Mo Fan is going to lose! The Mu family is shameless!" someone cursed angrily from the side.

"So what? Background is also part of strength." Some people held a different opinion and sided with the Mu family.

But the entire duel ended in a way that no one could have imagined.

Just when everyone thought Mo Fan was about to lose everything.

"Thunder Seal - Wrathful Strike!"

A dazzling purple bolt of lightning, fueled by a surge of rage, ripped through the summer sky, scorching Yu Ang to a crisp!

He An, standing in the stands, smiled along with Mu Ningxue and the others.

He knew that this angry thunder would eventually resound throughout the world!

After the duel ended, He An silently watched Zhan Kong's departing figure.

He had already sent the Dew of the Nine Netherworlds along with the letter, which detailed some of the Black Vatican's plans.

Ultimately, He An was of low status and his words carried little weight; he wasn't sure how much of Zhan Kong's words could be trusted.

In short, it's enough to make Zhan Kong and the others alert; He An doesn't expect them to take it too seriously.

Faced with such a disaster, just do what you can and do your best.
