Chapter 11 First Hearing of the Secret

The two old men looked up and saw a streak of light flying towards the Yang residence from afar.

"Guards, on alert!" Many people in the Yang residence saw the approaching streak of light. At the command of the guard captain, the guards leaped into the air, swords in hand, their eyes fixed on the rapidly approaching light.

"Halt!" The captain of the guard opened his third eye on his forehead, trying to discern who was in the streak of light.

"Halt!" the guards shouted in unison, raising their swords as if ready to strike.

Grandpa Yang and Yang Yitan also leaped into the air, flying ahead of the crowd. Grandpa Yang's third eye between his brows emitted divine light, piercing through the flowing light to see that familiar magical power.

"Haha, what's everyone doing here? Are you here to welcome me?" The voice preceded her arrival. With a crisp laugh, the streak of light abruptly stopped in front of the crowd.

Yang Ping'an removed the magical barrier, revealing his figure. He stood steadily on the flying sword and waved to the people in front of him.

"Hmph, why isn't our young master Ping An traveling around? He's back so soon!" Old Master Yang sarcastically berated Yang Ping An and waved to Butler Yang.

"I just missed everyone," Yang Ping'an said apologetically, scratching the back of his head as he smiled at Old Master Yang.

"Thank you all for your hard work. The misunderstanding has been cleared up. Everyone, please return to your posts." Butler Yang understood and led the now-disarmed guards back to the Yang residence to handle the follow-up tasks of finding Yang Ping'an.

"Grandpa, with so many people watching, let's go downstairs and talk later." Many people in the Yang family were secretly watching the commotion above them, and their eager gazes made Yang Ping'an a little embarrassed.

"Yes, look at his clothes, he looks like a beggar. You can slowly make him look bad when you get back." Yang Yi sighed when he saw Yang Ping'an's tattered robe. Although he was somewhat gloating, he was more concerned about him.

"Hmph, he deserves it. Come with me." Old Master Yang couldn't bear it and cursed, "He deserves it."

Amid the pity of everyone in the Yang family, Old Master Yang led Yang Ping'an and Yang Yitan back to the ground and headed towards a courtyard behind the Yang family mansion where Yang Ping'an and Yang Yitan were rarely allowed to play.

Yang Ping'an's smile faded; this was the road leading to the former residence of his deceased parents. Yang Yitan, standing beside him, also remembered where this road led.

Grandpa Yang led Yang Ping'an and his companion through the gate into the courtyard. It was clear that Grandpa Yang took good care of the courtyard; both the courtyard and the rooms were spotless. A few fallen leaves were scattered in the yard, and the rooms were immaculate.

"Kneel down." Old Master Yang led Yang Ping'an into the house and made him kneel down in front of the two memorial tablets on the incense table in the middle of the main room.

With two thuds, Yang Ping'an knelt down in front of the two memorial tablets, and Yang Yitan knelt down beside him as well.

"I don't want to ask too much about why you ran away from home this time, but you must understand that your life doesn't just belong to you. It was given to you by your parents, and they entrusted you to me in their final days." Old Master Yang paused for a moment as he looked at the cold memorial tablet in front of him.

"I know you've always wanted to know why your parents died, and now I'll tell you everything." Before making this decision, Grandpa Yang hesitated for a long time, watching Yang Ping'an grow up, and finally decided to tell him the truth.

Yang Ping'an looked up at Old Master Yang's back. Old Master Yang seemed to have had his energy drained away, and his tall body became slightly hunched. Yang Ping'an did not speak, but listened silently.

"Fifteen years ago, Dongfang Guyue, the master of Shenhuo Mountain Manor, fought to a draw with Huan Du Qingtian, the Poison Emperor of the Southern Kingdom, and the Yi Qi Dao Alliance briefly ended its great war with the demon race. It was thought that a period of stable development was about to begin, but unexpectedly, some ambitious people within the Yi Qi Dao Alliance wanted to seize even greater power."

At first, they simply seized upon and magnified the shortcomings of each family, which the major families reluctantly accepted. But later, they instructed spies to lure disciples of the major families into their traps, fabricate stains on their reputations, and then spread them widely within the Qi Dao Alliance.

The major clans, of course, couldn't stand by and watch them smear them. They thoroughly purged spies within their families and launched a counterattack against those ambitious individuals. Seeing the situation tilting in the hands of the major clans, they brazenly instigated an internal war within the Qi Dao Alliance.

Many of the Yang family's disciples, including your parents, were lured by their spies and fell into a trap they had set up in advance. They arranged a battle and laid down a memory stone.

While your parents were helping to exorcise the demon, the assassins in the battle unexpectedly charged into their attack. Although they noticed the anomaly and shattered the recording stone in time, the conspirators used the assassins' wounds as evidence to falsely accuse your parents of slaughtering their own kind.

Those people arrested and imprisoned people, waiting for an opportunity to deal with the Yang family. In prison, your parents and those Yang family disciples, in order to protect the Yang family's reputation, pretended to take the blame themselves.

When your parents were brought to the Yang family for questioning, they entrusted you to me and committed suicide in front of me to uphold the Yang family's reputation. Although we eventually suppressed those ambitious people, they were not resigned to their fate.

"Now, our Yang family may seem prosperous, but in reality, many crises lurk outside. There are countless ill-intentioned schemers watching us from the shadows. If you were to be murdered by them outside, how would I face your parents after I die?" After saying that thing he didn't want to mention again, Old Master Yang turned around and looked at Yang Ping'an kneeling under the incense table.

"I'm telling you this so that you'll think things through more in the future. You can seek revenge on those who aren't all dead, but don't let anger cloud your judgment."

"Yes," Yang Ping'an replied silently. When he first heard about his parents' experiences, he looked at the two memorial tablets in front of him and was filled with countless thoughts. He wished he could rush to those people's homes and kill their enemies.

"Stay here for a while, and come find me when you've thought things through." Old Master Yang looked at Yang Ping'an's hazy eyes, sighed, and transmitted his voice to Yang Yitan, who was kneeling to the side, asking him to take care of Yang Ping'an. Then he turned around, glanced at Yang Ping'an, and left the main room.

Yang Yitan nodded. It was the first time he had heard this secret, and for a moment he didn't know how to comfort Yang Ping'an. He could only kneel beside Yang Ping'an and silently accompany him.

As the sun set, the golden sunset glow slanted into the main room.

Yang Ping'an knelt in the hall, his back straight. Bathed in the golden glow of the sunset, he resembled a solemn statue, calm and resolute.

"Ouch!" A startled cry broke the tranquility. Yang Yitan, who had been kneeling for too long, was half asleep and almost fell to the ground. Although Yang Yitan was smart and sensible, he was still a six-year-old child, unlike some fake children who looked six but whose mental age had already exceeded three.

Hearing the exclamation, Yang Ping'an turned around and saw Yang Yitan falling to the ground. He quickly reached out and grabbed Yang Yitan's collar, pulling him back.

"Brother, thank you." Yang Ping'an waited until Yang Yitan sat down again before letting go of his hand, and then awkwardly thanked Yang Yitan for kneeling with him the whole time.

"We're brothers, why are you thanking me?" Yang Yi sighed for a moment, then waved his hand and said.

"Hmm." Yang Ping'an also sat up and used his magic to help improve the blood circulation in his and Yang Yitan's legs.

"Did you just call me 'brother'?" Yang Yitan asked Yang Ping'an with a wink, while rubbing his sore legs.

"No, you misheard!" Yang Ping'an paused in his magical power and repeatedly denied it.

"I clearly heard it, call me again so I can hear it," Yang Yi sighed, not believing it, and wanted Yang Ping'an to call him "brother" again.

"That's just a hallucination caused by your exhaustion," Yang Ping'an continued to circulate his qi and blood, vehemently denying what had just happened.
